I don't think it's a stretch to say I'm a leading expert in celebrity cell phone knowledge - what can I say, just makin' my parents proud. What with regular celeb cell phone matchups and cell phone evolution roundups, I've diligently studied handsets in Hollywood and from iPhones to BlackBerrys I know who is using what. No iPhone 3G S or Palm Pre sightings in Tinseltown just yet, but you just never know what will pop up in the near future. Check out some celebrities and their cell phone upgrades over the years.

Celebrity Cell Phone Watch: Katherine Heigl

Grey's Anatomy star Katherine Heigl showed off her new white BlackBerry Pearl at the T-Mobile Café at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. I'm just jealous she got her hands on the new white model before I did.

If I have give her credit for anything, it's that she seems to incorporates them as a fashion accessory in her photo shoots and she even took the time to bling a few of them out with rhinestones. Hugh Jackman Has a Cell Phone Rant - Did You?

Last weekend I decided to go to the movies alone. Just me, a small bag of popcorn, and a movie I've been dying to see. A movie that was then interrupted by a ringing cell phone. Seriously? I haven't been to a movie in the past year (at least!) that hasn't featured a "Please silence your cell phones" PSA before it starts. I was in honest disbelief that the phone rang so loudly, and grew angrier when the phone's owner didn't attempt to silence it. Thirty seconds after the ringing stopped and as I tried to re-engage in the movie: "Ding!" a voice mail notification. The audience groaned audibly.

The experience reminded me of a TMZ video I'd seen a few months ago. It features the actors Hugh Jackman and Daniel Craig in the middle of a performance of their play, A Steady Rain as the show is interrupted by a ringing phone. Hugh (understandably!) went off on a rant, while somehow keeping his composure enough to remain in character. (You can also check out his rant in the second half of this episode of PopSugar Rush).

Celebs Help Launch LG's New Phone

LG held a special "Mobile TV Party" at Paramount Studios this week to celebrate the launch of the LG VX9400. If the celebrity status of the people that show up for such events is any indicator, this device looks to be a little less alluring and youthful than the Sidekick iD. Not that I don't have a soft spot in my heart for Brenda Walsh or Lauren Conrad, but you gotta admit the crowd was less, how shall I say this, "hip" than some launch parties.

Why were people like Scott Baio, Christopher Knight, Gary Coleman, Shannen Doherty and Alan Thicke in attendance? The LG VX9400 is one of the first handsets to support Mobile TV, which delivers programs from some of the biggest television networks to your cell. LG themed out the entire party recreating what they called three of television's most memorable shows "Brady Bunch, Star Trek and Happy Days." The VX9400 phone allows you to make calls, answer messages, and when finished, go right back to enjoying TV programs.

Geek Out: Do You Take Your Cell Phone to the Pool or Beach?

I'm pretty low maintenance when I'm lucky enough to hit the beach or the pool in the summertime, requiring only some sunscreen, chapstick, and a book - but I cannot leave my iPhone behind (um, I do realize that this may make me high maintenance, but I'm ignoring that).

I need my lifeline to the outside world as well as my iPod, plus I know it's not that weird - celebrities are always photographed using their cell phones while poolside. Just yesterday Ashley Tisdale was caught in a skimpy bikini, checking a BlackBerry (um, I do realize that rationalizing that something is normal because a celebrity does it is not a good argument, but I'm ignoring that).

In any case, our dependence on gadgets has made their presence at the beach or poolside a regular occurrence (just don't drop it in). Do you take and use your cell phone when you go to the beach, pool, or lake?

Why Do Celebrities Love Ugly Cell Phone Clips?

Last week PopSugar reported that Courteney Cox hit up Il Sole with her daughter, little Coco. I couldn't help but notice the usually chic Cox was sporting an awkward, "this was inspired by a 47-year-old business man" cell phone clip on her belt.

Sadly, Courteney isn't the only celebrity to commit this major geek faux paux. Nicole Richie's fella Joel Madden was also spotted wearing his BlackBerry on his hip recently, leading me to believe that somewhere there are a pack of stylists or personal assistants encouraging the use. Yes, I know, they are important, busy people, but your phone shouldn't be worn as an accessory in any circumstance.

As always, my advice is to get a more chic and discreet cell phone holder, which will allow you to keep your phone within reach, but not attached to your body.
