South Beach Wine & Food - Celebrity Chef Book Signings

During the South Beach Wine & Food Festival, many celebrity chefs were on hand to chat with fans while signing copies of their books. On hand were the usuals (like Rachael and Giada), however there was one particular Food Network bashing chef on hand as well. Yep that's right, our favorite celebrity chef bad-boy, Anthony Bourdain, was there too. On one hand I'm sort of surprised, I thought he hated these guys, but on the other I'm not surprised at all. I mean he is a celebrity chef, so why wouldn't he be there?

Here's what Charles Passy of the Palm Beach Post had to say about the "Howard Stern of the food world":

Of course, in the process of espousing such a philosophy, Bourdain made note of everything from Giada de Laurentiis’ oversized head to Al Roker’s stomach stapling (Bourdain’s point with the latter: Do you really want to bask in the culinary wisdom of a guy who can’t eat?). I laughed so hard, it almost made up for the five numbingly dull hours I spent at the Food Network Awards the night earlier.

But here’s the thing: Just an hour or so before the talk, Bourdain was doing a book-signing session, sitting in the same seat that Giada had occupied moments earlier. Can he have it both ways - mock the famous and bask in fame at the same time?

So what do you guys think, can he have it both ways or is it hypocritical?

How To Get a Celeb Bikini Body like Kate Moss and Kelly Brook

Time to ditch the sarong and stop hiding behind the cover-ups.

For a beach body, like Kelly Brook, Kate Moss or Cameron Diaz, just follow these results-orientated exercises, plus beauty treatments, for an A-list body you'll want to show off.

Legs like Kate Moss
The vibrating power plate is the ultimate leg toner and has also been shown to help prevent and reduce cellulite.

For legs like Kate (see pic below), hold onto the bars and squat – slowly pushing back your bum until your knees are at a 90 degree angle. Squeeze your bum cheeks and push back up. Aim for two sets of around 50 seconds, three or four times a week.

A waist like Kelly Brook
For a teeny tiny waist to emphasise your hourglass shape, like Kelly, try twists. First lie on your back with your knees bent. Then raise your legs up, keeping knees bent and twist both legs to one side. Bring back to the middle, very slowly, pulling in your stomach. Repeat eight times on each side, every other day.

To tone up your glutes and keep your bum looking peachy, go for the lunge. Stand with your feet wide apart, knees bent and the weight through your heels. Squat and repeat five times. Next, stand one foot in front of the other, and lunge forward. This works the back of your thighs, as well as calves.

Arms like Beyonce
For toned upper arms, it's best to do free standing weights. Speak to your local gym or personal trainer to ensure you're using the right weight for your body type.

Pole dancing, is also excellent to tone arms, as often the tricky moves mean that your whole body weight is on your upper arms. Look for a local class online at Pole Dancing School.

Do You Take Beauty-Related Supplements?

In a poll written a few years ago by my Stateside sis BellaSugar US, 46% of you felt that beauty supplements were a crock whilst, only 23% of you had even tried them. In my opinion, it takes more than just topical notions to have healthy and beautiful hair skin and nails. It matters what you ingest, and a well balanced diet, can mimic the effects of supplements.

I've used Phyto's Dietary Supplements for two months to help improve growth in my hair and nails, but all it did was cause irritation and spots on my face. However, tons of celebrities have had wonderful experiences with products like Rodial's Skinny Beach Sticks, as they curb the appetite and help to build up the tanning pigments in the skin to get you holiday ready.

Polaroid Beach House: Another Geeky Celeb Spot

When I think of Polaroid, I think of Polaroid cameras, which at this point have a vintage geek following, but the company is doing its darndest to promote their other products and has jumped on the celebrity beach house bandwagon.

The company has created a lavish $30 million dollar beachfront estate where celebrities and VIPs can enjoy tech toys, private dinner parties, exclusive events, BBQs, clambakes, and beachside activities.

Like the LG Beachhouse, the Polaroid Beach house is located on "the most exclusive stretch of beach in Malibu," and is completely decked out with with the company's TVs and gadgets. The house is decorated by the designers at west elm and features the company's home furnishings and accessories - such as bedding from west elm's new Pure Organic collection and comfy Walton sectional pieces with lots of glam mirrored side tables. It also features a gaming room outfitted with the latest Polaroid LCD TV's, sitting areas with the newest large flat screens and loads of outside space for celebrity photoshoots.

Polaroid has opened the house up for stars like Eva Mendes, Kate Bosworth, Courteney Cox Arquette, Jennifer Aniston, Leonardo DiCaprio and the cast of Entourage. If only we were so lucky.

Eating My Way Through the Pebble Beach Food & Wine Festival

This weekend marked the First Annual Pebble Beach Food & Wine event, and let me tell you, it was definitely a lavish affair. While the full shebang would have cost you $4,750 - including lodging for the four-day affair, as well as admission to all the events, including classes, seminars, parties and tastings - a single-day Grand Tasting Pass cost only $165. Pennies in comparison.

So what exactly did $165 buy you? Try access to over 200 wineries - one of my faves was Revana, whose wines are normally only available at restaurants and cost more than I normally spend on a bottle - nibbles by some of the most famous chefs in the world, and a wildly surreal surrounding - think models doing slow motion dancing in head-to-toe stretch material and a beautiful ocean nearby. Sure it's pricey, but it was definitely a fun event for a food lover. Oh and if you plan it correctly, you may even get to hob knob with celebrities. Rumor has it that several Top Chef faves were on hand, as was Thomas Keller, Todd English, and Ted Allen.

Geek Out: Do You Take Your Cell Phone to the Pool or Beach?

I'm pretty low maintenance when I'm lucky enough to hit the beach or the pool in the summertime, requiring only some sunscreen, chapstick, and a book - but I cannot leave my iPhone behind (um, I do realize that this may make me high maintenance, but I'm ignoring that).

I need my lifeline to the outside world as well as my iPod, plus I know it's not that weird - celebrities are always photographed using their cell phones while poolside. Just yesterday Ashley Tisdale was caught in a skimpy bikini, checking a BlackBerry (um, I do realize that rationalizing that something is normal because a celebrity does it is not a good argument, but I'm ignoring that).

In any case, our dependence on gadgets has made their presence at the beach or poolside a regular occurrence (just don't drop it in). Do you take and use your cell phone when you go to the beach, pool, or lake?

Russell and Taylor Help Creative Katy Celebrate Her 25th

Katy Perry got creative with Oompa Loompa nails for her 25th birthday bash at Sunset Beach in Hollywood on Saturday night. All the guests, including Taylor Swift, wore white but left with mutlicoloured outfits as the celebrations involved paint-splatting and cake fights! Katy's beau Russell Brand joined in the fun, and the couple are getting even more serious, as they are reportedly house hunting together for a place to rent in the Hollywood Hills. Russell has also apparently invited Katy to spend Christmas with his family in London, while she hired a plane to skywrite "I Love You" over Russell's LA home. She still finds time for fun without Russell, however, going to a Mika concert on Friday and working out on Melrose Avenue in the day.

Do You Rinse Your Hair After A Swim?

Kate Moss, Jamie Hince and model gal pal Karen Mulder spent some time this week on a buddy's yacht in the South of France partying and taking in the surf and sand. After a dip in the Med, Karen cared for her long, blonde hair by rinsing it off with fresh water so that the salt from the sea didn't dry it out, whilst Kate just left her hair alone.

After a dunk, I typically apply some kind of SPF hair product to protect my locks and then comb it through so that it dries into sexy beach waves. Do you rinse off your hair after a swim in an ocean or pool?

Skins Cast Talk About Series Four At T4 On The Beach!

The fourth season of Skins begins shooting this month, and almost the entire cast were down at the beach at Weston-Super-Mare on Sunday for T4's live event! I saw Luke Pasqualino, Kaya Scodelario, Kathryn and Megan Prescott, Lily Loveless, Lisa Backwell, Klariza Clayton and Ollie Barbieri backstage at the bash, laughing and chatting with each other. Since they started working on the new series a week ago, the girls told me they've seen four scripts so far, so they know half the series' storylines - apparently they're deeper and darker than season three's plotlines!

They cast also mentioned that they are working with a female director for the first time, and that they all know they'll be leaving at the end of this series when the gang all move on to Uni and/or real life. Lily skipped the cast photos in the press tent, but she was happy to take part in a game onstage vs Diversity, while Dizzee Rascal's performance coaxed Ollie out into the golden circle. I can't wait for the fourth series to begin airing, although it's likely it won't be until 2010 - are you looking forward to more Skins?
