How Do You Feel About Drawn-In Eyebrows?

Last night at the New York premiere of Hairspray, Liza Minnelli showed up to support her showbiz friends and to catch a viewing. Something I hadn't noticed before is that her eyebrows barely have any hair-perhaps the result of over-waxing, or just a style statement? What are your thoughts on drawn-in brows?

Will You Grow Your Brows Like Agyness?

This is certainly looking to be the season of the full brow. Models Hilary Rhoda and Agyness Deyn have been leading the way, but when I saw pictures of Agyness on the catwalk at the Henry Holland show yesterday at London Fashion Week, I could swear her brows are even bushier.

Perhaps it's the contrast with her ultra pale, bleach blonde new bob, but she is definitely flying the flag for strong eyebrows. Whilst it's always useful to follow model advice for creating the perfect neat arc, I'm not sure if facial features can be copied in the same way. Having said that, I do think most of us could benefit from growing our brows a little, as oppose to looking over-plucked.

Brow Wow! Rosario Dawson Shows Us How It's Done

Rosario Dawson just seems like a cool girl to hang out with, doesn't she? It's rare that you see her without a smile on her face, which is one reason I find her so gorgeous. After seeing this picture of her, I'm convinced she's getting even more beautiful as she gets closer to 30 - and a big part of that has to do with this perfect pair of eyebrows. Makeup artists often talk about how the right eyebrow shape can completely change your appearance, and it's true. A few plucked hairs here, a little gel there, and you can go from scruffy to polished in no time.

Too curved: A few years ago, Rosario was already grooming her eyebrows - but they suffered from a "tadpole" shape that's thicker at the beginning of the brow and curves off into a thin, tapered point. The overall effect makes her look a little surprised.

Too faint: Here, Rosario's eyebrows don't stand out from her (flawless!) skin. While the shape is better, the brows don't frame the eyes as much as they could. If you ever decide to bleach your eyebrows, be careful to stay within a natural shade range. If yours are too light for your skin tone, fill them in with brow powder, which looks more realistic than a brow pencil.

Just right: It looks like Rosario has found the right shape and style of brows to show off her face. Here's why they flatter her so well. The arch is well-defined, opening up the space between her eyes and the brows. She's kept much of the fullness of her brows, but a little trim from the top keeps them looking well-sculpted. Notice, too, that at their fullest part, the brows are brushed upward; about halfway into the brows, they're brushed downward. That's how the brow hairs grow naturally, and they look so much better when you don't fight them. Finally, it looks like Rosario has used a tiny bit of brow powder and gel to set her brows into place. You don't need to do this every day, but for special occasions, it can really add a little polish to your look.

Love It or Hate It? Megan Fox's Thick Brows

Megan Fox, who stars in Transformers and is engaged to Brian Austin Green, has a definite Angelina vibe going on. Here she is at the movie's premiere, with a strong, full set of eyebrows. Jolie lookalike or not, I love how her brows are groomed but not over-plucked. What do you think?

Eyebrows Transplants Hit UK As Bold Brows Trend Continues

As the trend for perfectly shaped bold brows continues, it seems that all the new brow kits out there just aren't enough for some of us. With models du jour Hilary Rhoda and Agyness Deyn sporting strong, bold and even a little bushy brows, it's no wonder that us mere mortals feel the need for some extra help in the brow department.

However, now it's been revealed that eyebrow transplants, previously carried out only in the US, are now available here. Apparently the operation takes several hours and costs around £2,000. The procedure sounds eye wateringly painful, I know I always cry when I'm just getting mine plucked! For what actually happens during an eyebrow transplant, just read more.

During the procedure, hair is shaved from the back of the head and the follicles are extracted to become eyebrows. Then the doctor makes tiny incisions to create the new eyebrow shape. The holes are angled to indicate the direction the hair should grow. Individual hairs are then planted, follicle by follicle, into the holes. Up to 350 are needed for each brow. Apparently, over the next month most of the hair will fall out, but they should regrow from the newly implanted follicle around two months later. A word of warning though, because the hair is taken from the head it grows much faster than normal eyebrows and therefore may need trimming weekly, if not more often.

Dr Greg Williams from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons told the Daily Mail: "It is a treatment that was originally for burn victims and those with thinning eyebrows. People might bring in pictures of how they used to look - or of celebrities that have particularly good eyebrows."
