How-To: Natalie Portman's Makeup at the 2009 Oscars

I'd have to say that Natalie Portman's Cinematography award presentation (with Ben Stiller as Joaquin Phoenix) was one of last night's most memorably awkward moments. While she did a great job of looking uncomfortable, it was also hard to miss her stunning beauty.

Chanel makeup artist Jeanine Lobell was inspired by Natalie's orchid Rodarte dress in creating this look, aiming for "cool punk-rock sexy fairy." That's quite a mouthful, but it's also quite a pretty style, so get step-by-step instructions when you read more.

Eyes: To achieve this smoky eye look, use Chanel Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Orient Express. Apply the pale pink as a base and then smudge the dark purple hue into the lower lash line and to create the smoky eye on the top lid. Next, add the Noir Intense Eye Pencil inside the eye. Finish up with Inimitable Mascara (in Noir Black) on the lashes and Perfect Brows (in Brun) to define the brow.
Cheeks: Add Chanel Powder Blush in Narcisse high on the cheekbones for a splash of color.
Lips: For a pale glossy effect, apply the lavender Glossimer in Galactic to unlined lips.
Body: With a strapless dress like this one, get a sexy, bronze sheen by using Sheer Brillance on arms, shoulders and décolleté.

Which Makeup Makes Maggie Gyllenhaal's Look Best?

I spy two very similar looks for Miss Maggie Gyllenhaal . . . I almost wanted to get out my pen and play spot the differences! In a period of about two weeks' time, the actress wore this identical frock but switched it up beauty-wise. Since the clothing's not an issue (and the hair's pretty close as well), let's compare face-to-face. Tell me, do you prefer her more bronzed look and heavier liner on the left or the brighter lips and paler face of the right?

Would You Buy Kate Moss Cosmetics?

Rumour has it that Kate Moss is seriously considering creating her own line of makeup. The mega-model has already created two fragrances and eight collections for TopShop, all of which have been an enormous success. She certainly has experience with cosmetics, and it's not like she'd be the first model to create her own line (think Josie Maran, Heidi Klum and Jemma Kidd to name a few), but out of all of the makeup available these days, would you be inclined to buy from Kate Moss?

How-To: Lo Bosworth's Sweet and Sexy Makeup

Last night, Lauren Conrad debuted her Spring 2009 collection at LA Fashion Week, while The Hills co-star and buddy, Lo Bosworth, watched from the front row.

Lo, who managed to pull off the "hard core, but sweet" look with ease, chose a more demure pink gloss and blush to contrast with her edgy, heavily-lined black eye makeup. The good girl/bad girl combo - always a good mix.

For some suggestions on how to achieve Lo's style with only two multitasking products, check out my tips below:

Eyes - For dark and sultry eyes, try Stila Smudge Pot in Jet Black ($22), a nifty gel eyeliner and shadow. Using a liner brush, line the top and bottom lash lines. Next, tap in the product on your lids with your fingers (or a brush). Then, simply smudge.

Lips and cheeks - Pull a double duty with a shimmery pink cheek and lip duo. Try Vincent Longo Pearlessence Gel Stain ($22.50) in Bellini Love or Dolceacqua, depending on your skin tone.

How To: Rachel's Relaxed Makeup from "The OC"

All week, FabSugar is paying tribute to the fashion of "The OC," so I thought I'd join the party with a few posts about the notable hair and beauty looks featured on the indulgent SoCal teen drama.

On Monday, I told you how to get Mischa Barton hair, and today, we'll be learning how to recreate Rachel Bilson's relaxed makeup look. Face: Badass Bilson is all about a clean-looking face. To look youthful and not overly made up, all you'll need is a bit of concealer and a tinted moisturizer with SPF.
Cheeks: To re-create her sun kissed look, I would start with a basic bronzer and then add a peachy cream blush to the apples of your cheeks.
Eyes: If you look closely, you'll notice that there are two different shadows on Bilson's eyes: a highlighter and a mocha brown color. Try Stila Eye Shadow Pan in Puck, which can be worn lightly during the day and layered for evening for a more dramatic effect.
Next, line your upper lashes only with a deep brown eye pencil, like Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Special Brown. Lastly, use one coat of black lengthening mascara for definition.
Brows: See how Bilson's brows are the stand-out feature in the natural look? It's imperative to get a brow shaping a few times a year to keep your face properly framed. If you have light brows, use Anastasia Brow Powder Duo on Ash Blonde or Medium Ash to fill them in. Just go easy: The goal of this look is to make it look effortless.
Lips: Her lips look naturally pink, light, and sheer. As you know I am a huge fan of Lipstick Queen's Oxymoron Lip Gloss, and this matte formula is a perfect choice for this look.

With all of the controversy surrounding the movie Factory Girl, one thing is for certain: Sienna Miller looks gorgeous - well at least for the first half of the film. She plays the charismatic fashionista and heiress, Edie Sedgwick, who lives an incredible life of highs and lows in the fast lane. Her wish to become a 'superstar' came true as soon as she met the quirky and famed artist, Andy Warhol. As soon as Andy took one look at her he was inspired.

She had a waif-like body and a bright smile, but it was her eyes that were really the focal point of her face. She wore thick black eye makeup with lavish lashes, pale lips and a cute as a button penciled on beauty mark. FACE: You'll want to create a balanced, clean looking face for this look. Make sure you exfoliate your skin, moisturize and then apply a color that blends well with your natural skin tone such as Nars Balanced Foundation in Santa Fe, $40.
EYES: First, swipe a white eye shadow all over your lid. Next, carefully take an angled eye shadow crease brush and dip it into a black matte eyeshadow. Using a windshield wiping motion, blend back and forth starting from the outside crease working your way to the inner corner of your eye. Ultimately, there should be white along the lash line, a definitive black arch in the crease, and white on the upper eye area; you will want to see white shadow both above and below your blended black line. This is an old school style of the smoky eye.
Next, line your upper eye lids thicker than ever before. Using a liner such as FLAT Liner Flat Automatic Eyeliner Pencil by Physician's Formula in Black , $5.95, will help you get the 4 1/2mm width you'll need. Then line your lower lids and concentrate the thickness toward the outer corners. LIPS: Sienna's makeup artist kept her lips a very pale nude or pink matte color at all times - after all, that was the look back then. M.A.C Lipstick in Myth, $14.50, is a pale muted peachy beige color that should do the trick as would, Bare Escentuals i.d. Lipstick in Baby, $15. Skip lip liner and gloss.
BROWS: Brows were very thick and dark in the movie. Use a heavier product such as LORAC Brow Wax in Brunette, $16 for this dramatic look.

The Grammys Red Carpet Beauty: How To Get Pink's Look

Ay Karumba! Get a load of Pink at the Grammy Awards last night. Her bodacious bod was gorgeously slim and toned, her dress was both classy and sexy and her hair was styled in true punk rock fashion.

Yet what really stood out to me was her girly and perfectly balanced makeup. The dark, sultry eyes offset by her flawless skin and pretty pink (no pun intended) lips was a surprising look from this alternative chick.

FACE: Be sure and use a foundation, that will seamlessly blend into your face. When you are showing that much skin, you can't have your face look more bronzed than your body. Then, lightly dust a powder over your foundation to create a perfect canvas.
CHEEKS: Next, apply a brightening blush to the apples of your cheeks and strike the brush upward toward your ear to enhance your cheekbones. A color like L'Oreal Feel Naturale Light Softening Powder Blush in Pinched Pink, $10.49, is a perfect shade if you have light skin like Pink.
EYES: The goal is to create the perfect smoky eye. Begin by sweeping a stark white matte shadow all over the lid. Next apply a black shadow starting from the base of the lid to the crease and blend well. Apply a black eyeliner to the upper and lower lids as well as two coats of black mascara. Finish with a lush pair of false eyelashes.
LIPS: Use a hot pink lip gloss sparingly like M.A.C. Plush Glass Lip Gloss in Plus Luxe, $17.50, to create a soft mouth with a sexy, high shine finish.

Little Ms. Rock n' Roll Makeup: How To Get Kate's Look

Our Little Ms. Rock n' Roll Kate Hudson plays Penny Lane - a "band aid" in the wonderful 2000 movie Almost Famous. In this memorable roll, Kate portrays a groupie that trails a rock n' roll band on their cross country tour.

This endearing role put Kate on the map. Her winning charm and cool rocker chick style have made her very famous! Further enhancing her rock n' roll persona, later that year, Kate married real life rocker, Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. Unfortunately, they have since broken up.

No matter who she dates, or what role she is playing, Kate has a hippie luxe style all her own. She's not afraid to try new looks and she's got the cute bod to wear anything she wants!

Begin with a light foundation and a brightening concealer. Here Kate is wearing YSL Touche Eclat #2 and it has been carefully yet liberally applied under her eyes and on her lids. Personally, I also love YSL's Perfect Foundation.
Set your concealer and foundation with a light dusting of loose ivory powder. Kate has on Lancome Dual Finish Fragrance Free Versatile Powder in Matte Porcelain.
On her cheeks, she is wearing RCMA Cheek Color in blush pink. This adds just a bit of natural warmth to pale skin.
On Kate's eyes, she has on a natural taupe color such as Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in Matte Taupe which was applied to her eyes with little dots of color in between her lashes to give her eyes some definition.
Louis used Lancome Aquacils Mascara in Brown/Black on her lashes. This is no longer in production, however, try Lancome Difinicils High Definition Mascara in Deep Brown for a similar shade.
Lastly, a variety of colors were applied to Kate's lips here, but the main color used was Guava Stain by Clinique. You can also try any number of sheer lip tints too. Party on!

American Beauty Makeup: How To Get Reese's Look

Reese Witherspoon is the quintessential American Beauty. She has a bright smile topped with cherry pie lipstick, shiny gorgeous blond hair and clear as sky blue eyes. She is the type of gal women want to befriend and men fall head over heels in love with.

Not only does Reese have beauty, she also has brains, power and two kids! A self proclaimed, over-achiever with a Type A personality, she's a top Hollywood earner and also owns her own production company fittingly called, Type A Productions. Brava, Reese!

Here's a look at the beautiful face of this American Beauty. Despite her recent news of divorce, Reese still looks like a million bucks! Begin with foundation and concealer on clean and exfoliated skin. Apply concealer to the inner corners of the eyes and underneath to cover dark circles. Also use a dab of concealer to the eyelid as an eye shadow base. Then apply a little bit more foundation to uneven areas of your face. Here, Reese is wearing Cover Girl Clean Liquid Makeup in Natural Ivory.
As for blush, use a berry or rose blush on the apples of your cheeks and work your way upwards and outwards to the end of your cheekbones. Try this Cover Girl Cheekers Blush in Deep Plum color that Reese is wearing, or something like these awesome and easy to use cheek sweeps.
On your eyes, opt for a pearly, light gold or beige shadow and sweep it from lid to crease. Also sweep a thin line of this shade right against the lower lash line. Reese is wearing Cover Girl Professional Eye Enhancers in Champagne. Here are more fabulous eye shadow shades suitable for blue eyes.
