Notice how each of them have gone with completely different looks.

How To Find Beauty Trends on the Cheap

Do you ever walk into a drugstore and wonder what the cosmetic trends of the moment are, whether it's a hairstyle or nail polish shade? It is, after all, so easy to get lost in the sea of displays. Spring is the perfect time to get experimenting, particularly with all of the weddings, outdoor events, and warmer weather ahead.

Plus, trends are a fun way to express your wilder and/or in-the-know sides, but because they're not always everyday appropriate, you might consider finding a more cost effective alternative for sporting your style. Well, I've got you covered. Here are some of my tips for identifying trends on the cheap when you read more.

On Bella: Check out some of my tagged themes to get the creative juices flowing, like Trend Alert; 2009 Spring, our most recent seasonal tag; or head to our Fashion Week coverage at 2009 Spring Fashion Week.
At the department store: If you don't have time to make a visit to the mall or your favorite department store, check out their websites for high-end inspiration. Often department store websites will feature a gallery of various designer's collections for the season. I like Neiman Marcus's comprehensive Spring 2009 look book.
Check out Pantone: When it comes to predicting color trends, Pantone leads the way. While they focus on predictions for fashion and the home, many of their featured colors also trickle down to makeup and nail polish shades and even hair accessories. If you're looking for the hottest shades right now, check them out here.
Other Sugar sites: When it comes to the latest fashions and colors, celebrities often get first pick at collections, and have easy access to the top stylists. In this case, it's always great to check out Pop and Fab for some beauty brainstorming.

Who Wore It Better? Sexy Super Bowl Hair

Last night at the Sixth Annual Leather And Laces Celebration after the Super Bowl in Florida, sexy celebrities Carmen Electra and Kim Kardashian battled the red carpet donning the same hairdo. This modern take on the half up, half down look, where just a section at the top of the crown gets pinned back, is one of Carmen's favourites (she wore it this way on her wedding day). I love it too, as it's a practical way to keep your hair out of your eyes, but still maintain an all-down appearance. I like how Kim has some volume at her roots, whilst Carmen goes for more of a slick and taught style. Whose hair you think looked best on Super Bowl Sunday?

Basic and Beautiful Wedding Hairstyles

Finding the right hairstyle for your wedding day is a big deal, so don't be ashamed or embarrassed to play with different looks. I sat through five different trials trying everything from long, wavy extensions to updos. Heck, even celebrity hairstylist Ken Paves said that, "once Carmen Electra selected her wedding dress, I created 13 different hairstyles on her and took a Polaroid of each one so she could select the one which was perfect for her."

This is your day to shine - you should look fabulous! And a great suggestion, Ken. It's important to take a Polaroid so that your stylist knows exactly how to recreate the look. I know it all feels kinda vain, but once you find something you love, you'll be so happy to have one less detail to worry about on your wedding day!

Oh and did I mention that Ken Paves also styled wedding hair for Jessica Simpson and Christina Applegate as well as J.Lo's hair for her wedding scenes in "Monster In Law" and "The Wedding Planner?" Updo: This is a broad category because it can mean chignon, french twist, ballet bun or simple knot. You can part it on the side to modernize this classic look, or give some volume to the crown. Even though it may not feel like something you'd be interested in, I encourage you to try your hair styled off your neck and away from your face. It really allows you to have a fuss free night! Half Up, Half Down: This keeps your hair out of your eyes but still allows somewhat of a flowy and natural feel. This look is really popular with all types of brides. You can see Nicole Kidman's wedding hair here.
Long and Natural: This is great for someone that wants to look like themselves on their wedding day. This look is becoming ever more popular with modern and natural brides. I would opt for shine/loose waves. Check out Jennifer Aniston's lovely locks here.
Short Hair With Added Body: If you have short hair you've got to do something to give it some oomph. You could add curl, volume or even spikes to dress it up a little bit. Look at Victoria Beckham's wedding 'do here.

You Asked: Do I Have to Buy a Gift For Every Party?

Dear Sugar,

I'm a bridesmaid this Summer in the wedding of one of my closest friends. She comes from a a very traditional Southern family, and she is having a ton of parties to celebrate her upcoming nuptials. Since I'm in her wedding party, I'm invited to all of them. I'd love to attend them all if I can, but buying a gift for all these parties is really going to break my bank. Is it tacky as a bridesmaid not to bring a present to every occasion? - Broke Brook

Dear Broke Brook,

I've said it once and I'll say it again - being in a wedding is expensive, and there are no right or wrong answers when it comes to bridesmaid etiquette. When a bride asks you to be a part of her special day, she's asking you to do her a big favor, so my advice to you is to attend what you can, but try not to feel obligated to make an appearance at every party, let alone bring a gift to each one. When you factor in travel costs, dress costs, hair and makeup costs, and buying engagement party and shower gifts, it's no wonder being a bridesmaid can make your bank account feel depleted.

If you do decide to attend every event and you don't want to come empty-handed, buy something less expensive off the couple's registry, such as kitchen towels, a cookbook, or that great wooden spoon they've had their eyes on. If you don't mind coming empty-handed, I'm pretty certain your bride will just be honored to have you there. Now if this specific wedding is one of many this Spring, try to make it to at least one of her events. Since you're a part of her wedding day, chances are you're one of her closest friends so hopefully she'll be understanding about your time and budget constraints.
