This past week was a busy one with cell phone chatter, as we learned about three new phones that will be making their way to store shelves very soon. For instance, the new and improved BlackBerry Storm2 has just gone on sale in Verizon stores across the US and will cost $180 on a two-year contract after a $100 mail-in rebate. Meanwhile, the fashionable Palm Pixi, which costs $99, will be coming to Sprint stores on Nov.

I was stoked after seeing a commercial for the Powermat, a wireless gadget charger that claims to charge any of your electronic toys without wires, cords, or trouble just by placing your device on the Powermat — finally a solution to my cord-management problems! A few days later I saw the Powermat at my local Best Buy and considered forking over the $100 listed on the price tag for convenience alone. But then reality (and an explanation from the sales rep) set in: $100 is not the bottom line on this super charger.

I was pretty set on buying a new iPhone 3GS as soon as I could, but that doesn't mean I'm unfamiliar with the anxieties of choosing a phone. Remember when you had maybe three phone options to choose from? My first phone was a clunky Nokia with a changeable faceplate — my toughest decision was figuring out which color to choose!

We may have to wait until 2008 to test out Google's newly announced Android — an open platform for cell phones that includes an operating system, user-interface and applications that promise to make cell phone usage easier — but we can make use of our cell phones' many features in the mean time.
The easiest way to get the best out of your cell is to take care of it and play around with all of its functions. It's not just a texting, call making device, it's an attention worthy gadget.
