Fearne Cotton Confides In Cosmo About Sex and Style

Fearne Cotton's been busy climbing Kilimanjaro with fellow celebs for Comic Relief over the last week, but before she took on the trek she modelled her essential buys of the season for Cosmopolitan UK. She also chatted about babies, sex and style icons. Here are highlights:

On fashion: "When I was younger I didn’t have a clue what I was doing. All my clothes came from the local market and they were all cheap and nasty. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I started to understand my body. You’ve got to stick to who you are, what you like, and what your shape is. Look at me and Holly [Willoughby, Fearne’s close friend]. She wears these amazing Jessica Rabbit strapless gowns and I just think, ‘You’re a goddess!’ But I know that if I wore that, I’d look like an idiot. I just can’t wear that shape and strapless does nothing for me at all."
On her style icons: "I love Chloë Sevigny – she looks incredible because she does her own thing. I remember spotting her in a second-hand shop in Los Angeles – and everything she picked up and put back down, I’d run over to and rush with it into the changing room, just because she liked it! None of it looked nice on me, though."
On her ideal wedding dress: "Something quite vintage I think, with dirty, beige-coloured vintage lace. I’d quite like something that I’d helped design or make, and it’d have to be unique and quite old and tatty looking. With maybe some loose flowers thrown in my tousled hair!"

On relationships: "I haven’t been single since I was about 15 … I love being in a relationship, yes. Companionship is a wonderful thing, and I suppose it’s what we all want deep down. Being in love is the most wonderful feeling."
On babies: "I’ve always been broody. And I’m obsessed with pregnant women – they’re amazing! So yes, having a family of my own is really important, more than anything. I think that’s what it’s all about, isn’t it? It’s about finding a life partner who’s your best friend. What’s the point of doing great things at work if you don’t have someone to share it with?"
On whether she changes in relationship: "Oh God, no. I’d never change for a man – and if anyone told me to they’d get told to piss off. I think you have to be accepted for who you are. Sex is important too, whether you’re in a relationship or just dating. Sometimes you’re just so pent up and then you’re just ‘aaah’, and it all goes."

You Asked: Do I Have a Right to Feel Cheated?

Dear Sugar,

My husband and I had a decent size wedding of about 120 people. Each guest cost my parents about $130. One family we invited sticks out in particular. Eight people in their party showed up (all adults) and when it came time to open gifts after the wedding, theirs was $100 - $100 from eight grown, working adults!! My husband and I were both shocked initially because the family is pretty well-off, but my husband decided we should let it go.

We've been married for over a year now and I can't seem to completely get over this. They are family friends of my husband so I hate to mention it to him, but it still hurts me to this day. I know I'm being selfish, but do I have a right to feel kind of cheated? I would never dare approach the family about it, but I've lost a lot of respect for them. In fact, their daughter (who attended our wedding) is getting married at the end of the month and I'm tempted to skimp out on her gift just in spite. Are my feelings justified? And when it comes to wedding gifts, what are the general rules anyway? - Holding a Grudge Gretta

Dear Holding a Grudge Gretta,

Giving a gift of $100 from eight people is definitely a little cheap, but you might not know what their financial situation is - while they appear to have a lot of money, times are tough right now for pretty much everyone. With that said, you have a right to be a little annoyed, sure, but since a year has past, I'd say it's time to just let it go. If you're tempted to be stingy with this woman's wedding gift, go ahead, but I think the better option would be to rise above your anger, be the bigger person, and give them a moderate wedding gift as if nothing happened.

When it comes to wedding etiquette, there are no black and white rules. I prefer to think of each wedding on a case-by-case basis. Factor in what you've already done for the couple: if you've given the couple a shower and engagement gift, bought a bridesmaid dress, or traveled far just to attend their wedding, I think it's perfectly acceptable to give a less expensive gift. If the wedding is the only event you've attended, I suggest purchasing something off their registry in a price range that fits your financial situation - anywhere from $50 to $100 is adequate. Consider how close you are to the couple as well, but like I said before, there are no real rules so do whatever feels right. I hope I was of some help!

Fab Finding Follow-Up: Bridal Shopping

Last weekend, I went wedding dress shopping with my BFF. As her bridesmaid, it was my duty to help her find that perfect wedding dress. We had appointments lined up all day so I needed you to help me find a cunning and comfortable outfit. Sure enough, my arms were loaded with wedding dresses, so that hands-free bag came in handy. Guess what? She found her dress - yay!

Toilet Paper Wedding Dresses

Most brides-to-be would include Vera Wang, InStyle magazine, and the Fashion Institute of Technology as their wedding-prep dream team. Others, like the following women, will settle for Charmin, Cheap Chic Weddings, and Ripley's Believe It or Not! They're winners in the fourth annual design-a-wedding-dress-with-toilet-paper contest. They could only use TP, tape, paper, and glue. Dang - these dresses are awesome! I just hope they were allowed to use 3-ply. They look pretty delicate.

Last Minute Bridal Emergency Tips!

I'd like to think that I'll be all calm and collected on my wedding day, but s*&t happens right? And, sometimes at the most unfortunate times. If a (little) pile of wedding day do do lands in your lap, here are some cheap, last minute tips to help you keep your cool. But at the end of the long day, it's just a big party (in your honor!) so try to remember to breathe, snack and smile.

Crayola White Chalk, $1, is a quick save for any unfortunate stains or spills. By simply drawing over the stain with white chalk you won't need to wait for water or any other cover up to dry.

Though you should have already broken in your shoes, what about slippage?! Take a sheet of sandpaper, about $1 per sheet at hardware stores, and buff the bottom of your shoes. Especially for when you hit the dance floor you'll want your shoes to have some tread.

Diaper pins are much stronger than regular safety pins for last minute wedding dress misshapes. I suggest you stick to the white ones, assuming your dress is white!

Bridal designer extraordinaire Monique Lhuillier has a unique effect over women, engaged or not. I'm not even close to getting married and I have the itch to don one of her dreamy confections!

Monique's latest collection, presented in her NYC showroom, is overflowing with modern romanticism. Each piece is uniquely embellished, belted, or laced. The Grecian number (left) is fit for a bride who wants to channel Romeo's Juliet. They certainly don't come cheap, but if money is no object, seriously consider one of Monique's jaw-dropping dresses. After all, dropping jaws is the effect every bride hopes to have on her husband-to-be and guests.

Simply Fab: Nundies

The C-String invisible underwear got you all talking, but I somehow doubt it got you buying.

We all hate VPLs, but we're not all willing to sacrifice comfort to avoid them. Nundies ($15 for a pack of five) provides a happy medium between comfort and utility. You simply peel and paste on your pants or tights - no VPLs, no hassle of washing. Seeing as they're not cheap, I'd advise using Nundies for special occasions like Valentine's Day or a wedding. Oh, and if you dare to wear Hervé Léger's skin-tight dresses.

Eva and Tony's Lucky Wedding Day

Eva has said that she wanted a low key wedding that didn't break the bank but it sounds like those plans have been pushed aside. Rumor has it that she and Tony are tying the knot at Château de Chantilly, a grand castle north of Paris. You know something like that can't be cheap. The date of their wedding is supposedly July 7th of this year since it's a lucky day. Here's more details:

According to a source, "Tony is extremely superstitious and thinks that 07-07-07 is the day most lucky to get married on."

Longoria, 31, will be traveling to France in February with event planner Mindy Weiss to finalize details for the reception, including ordering the flowers, food and cake. And, since Parker, 24, has family in France, the groom-to-be's mother, Pamela, will be nearby to lend a helping hand.

"Tony wants her to feel that it's her day as well as his and Eva's," says a source.

And, to top if off, designer Monique Lhullier will create Longoria's dress for the big day, a source says.

Looks like European castles are the new hot spot for weddings. We bet Eva will be a beautiful bride. As for the wedding being on 7-7-07, it's a good thing they are not getting married in Vegas since the city will probably be insanely busy.
