How-To: Christina Applegate's Hair at the 2009 Golden Globes

Last night, Christina Applegate stepped out in a sunshiny, strapless Roberto Cavalli gown with gorgeous necklace to bring out the yellow hue . . . and a glowing face, too. With long bangs falling over her forehead, she chose a sophisticated yet casual style playing up her hair's short length and natural texture. After you check out the makeup tutorial, have a look at stylist Ken Paves's tips for recreating this look at home:

Starting with wet hair, spray Ken Paves Healthy Hair Volumizing Spray at the roots and use a blow dryer while tousling hair with fingers to create lift and add texture.
Just before the hair is completely dry, finish the edges using a teaser-type brush (like this Spornette mixed-bristle brush).
Once dry, add more volumizing spray and collect the hair back with a larger, mixed bristle brush – Paves chose a Mason Pearson for this part - so luxurious.
Use hair pins to keep short hair twisted up and finish off the look with just a couple sprays of Ken Paves Healthy Hair Strong Hold Shaping Spray – don't overdo it unless you want helmet head!

How-To: Christina Applegate's SAG Awards Hairstyle

For the 2008 Screen Actors Guild Awards, Samantha Who nominee Christina Applegate arrived on the red carpet looking very old Hollywood. Celebrity hair stylist Adir Abergel created her gorgeous sparkly side-swept chignon using all Fekkai products. Her makeup was pale and flawless with lined black eyes and red lips. Plus, her gown was so pretty that she made FabSugar's best-dressed list!

Step 1: Since creating texture is key to this kind of look, begin by applying Fekkai Coiff Shape and Set Mist all over the hair from roots to ends. Next, blow-dry hair and finger comb through.
Step 2: Then, take a one-inch barrel curling iron, and curl two-inch sections of your hair, choosing random pieces all over your head. You do not have to curl every hair, only about two-thirds (since you are trying to create an uneven texture).
Step 3: Rub a dime-size amount of Fekkai Coiff Nonchalant in your palms and gently rub it all over your hair. This will create a soft hold.
Step 4: Use your fingers to hand rake your hair into a low side ponytail. Secure with a hair elastic at the nape of your neck, leaving the ponytail loose and slightly messy. Lastly, twist your ponytail to create a messy chignon and secure with bobby pins. Then, mist your entire head with Fekkai Sheer Hold hair spray.

Personally, I like it best with a bit of volume and bounce, however straight and bobbed is such a classic cut, it's hard to go wrong with that look. Last night at the 2009 Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, the red carpet was filled with celebrities from television and film. In true Hollywood tradition, all of the women arrived dressed to the nines in ball-gowns and baubles from big name designers and everyone's hair and makeup was flawless.

Some of my favourite beauties were January Jones who looked slightly 70's with her loose waves and gold eye shadow, and Freida Pinto whose soft, smoky makeup enhanced her creamy caramel skin. I also noticed that most hairstyles had body as opposed to looking stick straight. In particular, the elegant and timeless wavy updo reigned supreme. Out of these eight elaborate looks, whose do you like the most?

Samantha Who? Tonight, it's all about Christina, that's who. She may play an amnesiac on her hit show, but tonight is a night I'm sure she soon won't forget. The cool, blue and purple tones of her dress and accessories are further accentuated by her deep red lips. Va voom on the hair - she keeps it smooth and classy. Ladies In The Limelight At The Golden Globes!

Last night's Golden Globe Awards brought together the biggest celebrites in television and film, with leading ladies like big winner Kate Winslet, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Renee Zellweger, Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Glenn Close, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and so many more lining up on the red carpet in their glamorous dresses. Newly blonde Drew worked some big hair, while her buddy Cameron and fellow superstar Angelina kept theirs down and relaxed.

Anything-but-basic black was the popular colour for Renee, Kate and Tina Fey, as well as Evan Rachel Wood, Sally Hawkins, and Amy Adams.
