Disney received an early present this year: The revamped version of the classic tale A Christmas Carol took the top spot at the box office in its opening weekend with $31 million. While that figure is on the low end of studio estimates for the film, insiders hope that it will continue to gain more movie-goers as we near the holidays. Following behind at No.

Before there was Buzz Lightyear or Shrek, there was Mrs. Hannigan and the Cowardly Lion. Movies made for small audiences have come a long way in terms of animation and imagination earning them an entirely separate category at major award shows, but when it comes to the classics, the old artists relied on their voices, costumes, and acting skills to create some irreplaceable masterpieces that every tot should enjoy. Check out the list of these movies, and tell me which one is your (or your child's) favorite.

Good news for fans of the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, famous for their cult comedy classic Super Troopers: their latest film, The Slammin' Salmon, which languished on a shelf waiting for a distributor, got picked up by a studio this week for a release in December. And that's not all; there's a new trailer for the film, featuring not just the group's faces, but one very welcome one: How I Met Your Mother's Cobie Smulders! Jim Gaffigan and Will Forte also have parts.

I've already given you holiday gift ideas for dad, mom, grandma, and now it's time to round out the group with suggestions for grandpa. What to get a patriarch who loves watching the tube, going to the movies, and listening to music? I have a few ideas, coming from my own grandfather, who loves Frank Sinatra (and will therefore be so jazzed about this CD and DVD box set), The Godfather, and updated versions of film classics.

Prabal Gurung seems to be a Hollywood favorite as of late. Leighton Meester was spotted donning his big blooms just the other day, and now, Thandie Newton has jumped on the fashion bandwagon. The effervescent actress emoted maximum sophistication in Prabal's black-and-white floral frock at the 2012 movie premiere in LA yesterday.

Let the holiday gift lists keep rolling: Yesterday, I gave you my picks for dad, and today I'm tackling grandma. Sure, she pretty much likes anything you give her, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't put thought into her presents to show your appreciation.
Classic movies, Mary Tyler Moore, and TV game shows always seem like a safe bet, or if yours is like mine and can never find her reruns of King of Queens on the tube, I've thrown in a handy-dandy TV Guide subscription.

If it's bad, it'll just be drawn that way: '80s animated/live action classic Who Framed Roger Rabbit? is getting a sequel, 21 years after its release.
The film's director, Bob Zemeckis, has confirmed that a Roger Rabbit sequel is moving forward, and the original screenwriters are working on a script.

We're almost at the end of our long battle to determine the Scariest Movie of All Time. The two movies left standing are definitely among the classics of the horror genre: The Exorcist and The Shining. We've heard some pretty heavy arguments for each side, (particularly from my girl Fab, a horror aficionado who is on team Shining all the way) — and even the Buzz editors stand as a team divided.
