I went into The Men Who Stare at Goats with high expectations. How could a film possibly disappoint when you have the acting trifecta of George Clooney, Ewan McGregor, and Jeff Bridges? But unfortunately, while the pros work hard to generate laughs — and they do deliver at times — the film on the whole is all over the place.

George Clooney looked perfectly distinguished alongside his TV journalist father Nick Clooney and Chairman of News and Documentary Emmys, Bill Small, in DC last night. The trio was there to lead a discussion before a screening of Good Night and Good Luck. On the panel, dad Clooney joked about his son, "Never cared for this kid!

George Clooney acted silly out to dinner with his parents in Lake Como last night, jokingly swinging a golf club at fellow diner Bill Murray before returning to his table. While he's playing overseas, George is still making business deals, recently moving his production company from Warner Bros. to Sony.

And then there were three. Back in May I asked you all who you would choose to play Frank Sinatra in the upcoming biopic, and Martin Scorsese reportedly has narrowed it down to Johnny Depp, Leonardo DiCaprio, and George Clooney. Apparently Scorsese's first choice is his muse DiCaprio, while Universal Pictures would like to see Depp in the role.

Several actors walked the red carpet this weekend at the London Film Festival and Rome Film Festival. Nicholas Hoult, Tom Ford, Colin Firth and Matthew Goode looked handsome in their suits at the premiere for A Single Man in London, and the capital also saw the premiere of Viggo Mortensen's The Road. Helen Mirren was in Rome for the The Last Station, and Terry Gilliam and Lily Cole were also in Italy for The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus premiere.

London Film Festival continued apace yesterday, with several American actors on our shores promoting their latest films. Jason Bateman, Kristen Bell, Malin Akerman and Vince Vaughn brought the sun and sand with them for their Couples Retreat press conference during the day, and then once the sun had gone down George Clooney walked the red carpet once more, this time for the premiere of The Men Who Stare At Goats. He was without his costar Ewan McGregor unfortunately, but Elisabetta Canalis was happy to join him for a PDA.

George Clooney changed out of his casual clothes into black tie for The Fantastic Mr Fox premiere at the opening of the London Film Festival in Leicester Square last night. He was joined by Elisabetta Canali, who wore a black outfit like Cindy Crawford and Myleene Klass, while Sophie Dahl matched her dress to the red carpet. Sophie's step-grandmother Felicity was also at the premiere, and said the author of the original book Roald Dahl would have loved it.

George Clooney arrived in London yesterday and was up early this morning, looking dapper in his gray suit as he headed to the Dorchester hotel. He was out for a photo call promoting The Fantastic Mr. Fox, which premieres during the city's BFI Film Festival. George smiled alongside his costar in the animated film, Bill Murray, who looked a little protective of his mug.
