Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol is, quite literally, a tale as old as time. Hollywood has already turned the novel into countless films, so how do you keep it fresh to entertain old and young audiences alike? You give them a pair of 3-D glasses.

Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy made their way to London for the UK premiere of A Christmas Carol yesterday. His Christmas Carol costars Colin Firth and Bob Hoskins brought along their families, while Director Robert Zemeckis was on hand to premiere his 3D twist on the classic tale. Jenny kept warm in a red coat as Jim showed off his many faces with a group of carolers, then later the pair grabbed dinner before changing into something comfy for an early morning flight to Germany.

Stars of A Christmas Carol Jim Carrey, Colin Firth and Bob Hoskins literally lit up London last night at the world premiere of the film, which they combined with turning on the capital's Christmas lights! They were joined by Jenny McCarthy in a Holiday season appropriate red coat, as well as The Saturdays and The X Factor contestants, who were more popular than the film stars! Olly Murs, Joe McElderry, Danyl Johnson, Jamie Archer, Lloyd Daniels and John and Edward Grimes looked smart in their suits, while Stacey Solomon and Lucie Jones looked lovely in their frocks: FabUK has the lowdown on how to copy Lucie's style.

Several actors walked the red carpet this weekend at the London Film Festival and Rome Film Festival. Nicholas Hoult, Tom Ford, Colin Firth and Matthew Goode looked handsome in their suits at the premiere for A Single Man in London, and the capital also saw the premiere of Viggo Mortensen's The Road. Helen Mirren was in Rome for the The Last Station, and Terry Gilliam and Lily Cole were also in Italy for The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus premiere.

When was the last time you were transfixed by a preview completely without dialogue? The trailer for the 1960s-set A Single Man instead relies on its visual strength, which it has in spades — not a complete surprise considering this is designer Tom Ford's directorial debut (and word is they have Mad Men's production design group).
Based on the Christopher Isherwood novel of the same name, A Single Man focuses on the unraveling of a man (Firth) after his partner dies.

The Venice Film Festival came to a close at the weekend. Jared Leto displayed yet another hairstyle as he joined Diane Kruger to premiere their film Mr Nobody after a photocall with their costars, then he hot-footed it back to New York for Fashion Week. The manjoyment at the festival was taken up another notch at the photocall and premiere of A Single Man, which saw director Tom Ford, Colin Firth, Nicholas Hoult and Matthew Goode get smart in suits and ties.

Colin Firth attended the screening of Dorian Gray at the Soho Hotel ahead of the film's release at our cinemas today. He was joined by his costars Rachel Hurd-Wood (who plays Sybil) and Ben Chaplin (who plays Basil), but Dorian himself Ben Barnes was missing from the screening. Ben has spoken about the role, however, and joked about the shirtless scenes: watch his interview after the jump.

We've seen Colin Firth filming scenes in London, and now we've got the trailer for Dorian Gray. Based on Oscar Wilde's novel The Picture of Dorian Gray, the films follows a beautiful young man called Dorian (Ben Barnes), who embarks on a hedonistic life when he meets by Henry Wotton (Colin Firth) in Victorian London. He is so keen to retain his good looks that Dorian pledges his soul to stay as beautiful as his portrait, with devastating consequences.
