There are exceptions to this generalization, but I usually come home to find my boyfriend waiting for me to whip up a delicious dinner. A couple of nights a month I don't cook, but more often than not I'm the one who makes the meals in the house. What about you — are you doing all the cooking for your loved ones and roommates?

The other day YumSugar and I were talking about how hard it is to be a patient cook. She was complaining about waiting for her popsicles to freeze, and I mentioned that I've frosted my fair share of uncooled cookies. How about you?

Last Wednesday while chopping shallots with my shiny new knife, I cut my thumb. Badly. I was really lucky I didn't slice the tip of my thumb off.

Since the heat is strongest directly above the flame, it's only natural for the middle items to cook more quickly.

I have somewhat recently become totally lactose intolerant — as in, no butter, no cheese, no yogurt, and nothing dairy. I'm totally opposed to relying on drugs to allow me to eat something my body clearly doesn't want to digest, so I've been experimenting with vegan cooking.

While I enjoy help (and company) when cooking, there's truth to the saying about too many cooks in the kitchen. I prefer to have plenty of room and a work station with my own cutting board and knife. How about you?
