Blush can be intimidating. Just a swirl and swish too many can make the difference between lightly flushed and clown cheeks. I've had my share of missteps, and when I saw how pink the CoverGirl TruBlend Microminerals Blush appeared in the container, I worried that I might have another Bozo moment.

Not so. The "Shimmering Sands" shade was so subtle, it nearly looked sheer. Once I inspected my face in daylight, the iridescent glow – with the prettiest hint of pink – was more visible. Very natural, very pretty. This brush and blush is safe from cross-contamination, making it handy for any mineral-based products. (I see another re-purposing project in my future.) So don't be scared by the bubblegum hue. If you're looking for light shimmer and a hint of pink, this may be just the blush for you.

At last night's NYC premiere, Amy amped up the volume with some bouncy waves and a warm, glowing face. "We went for a steel and copper smokey lid, gorgeous full lashes, a peachy cheek, and a golden amber lip," said CoverGirl celebrity makeup artist Molly R. Stern, who created the look.

"Last night Amy wore a gorgeous full-length Carolina Herrera gown with a charcoal and white pattern speckled with gold beading. So I borrowed from that exquisite color palette," Stern said. At last night's CFDA Awards, Kerry Washington was the epitome of impeccable style. Check out how her soft watermelon-toned lipstick complements, not competes with, her warmer, orange-toned blush.

That, and she's achieved eyebrow perfection with the perfect balance of shape and color. While her eyes are heavily lined for dramatic effect, she creates a slight smokiness with taupe and shimmery pink shadows. Like this look? Check out my how-to when you read more.

Eyes: Apply a shimmering pink cream shadow to the lids, making sure the inner V area is covered. Try Clinique Quick Eyes Cream Shadow in Muffin ($15). After lining both the top and bottom lash lines with a black pencil, create a soft smokiness by applying a taupe shadow to the lids and creases, like Bobbi Brown Eye Shadow in New Mink ($20).
Cheeks: Add a pop of warm color by applying BareMinerals Blush in Tulip ($18) to the cheeks.
Lips: To finish off, apply a bright pink gloss to the lips, like CoverGirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers Lip Gloss in Watermelon Splash ($5).

How-To: Leighton Meester's MTV Movie Awards Makeup

Has Leighton Meester ever had a red carpet misstep? Well, sure, probably - but I haven't seen it yet. At last night's MTV Movie Awards, she looked simultaneously cute and sexy, a combination that isn't as difficult to pull off as it may seem. Makeup artist Molly R. Stern shared the steps to getting Leighton's look. For the step-by-step instructions, read more.

Skin: Molly applied Clé de Peau cream foundation ($118!) in O20. For blush, she used Shiseido Accentuating Powder Blush ($29.50) in Glistening Brown.

Eyes: Molly used Vincent Longo liquid eye shadow in Midnight Mauve ($24) as a base over the eyelid. Then, she brushed NARS eye shadow in Night Clubbing ($22) into the crease of the eyelid. Both top and bottom lash lines were lined with CoverGirl Exact Eyelights Brightening Liner in Vibrant Pearl, which launches in July. A few swipes of CoverGirl LashBlast Luxe ($7.99) on the top lashes brought attention to Leighton's eyes.

How-To: Selita Ebanks's "Breaking the Rules" Makeup

Of course model Selita Ebanks is stunning, but at an event for the Whitney museum last night, she really amped up the drama. As we learned earlier, "breaking the rules" by using warm tones with cool ones creates a fresh, fun style. Notice how Selita's cool smoky bluish-green shadow and cinnamon red lips create an stunning appearance. Like this multihued look? Eyes: After lining both the top and bottom lash lines with a black eyeliner, apply a smoky green shadow to the lids, extending to the outer one-third of the crease. Next, smudge under the entire lower lash line for a cohesive look. Try Bare Escentuals Eye Color in Mermaid ($13). Finish of by adding a sparkly greenish-yellow shadow to the inner V. Looks like Leighton got the memo, as she's matched her lipstick to her dress at last night's Chloé opening in LA. The actress chose to stick to a more toned-down feel, opting for muted orange cheeks and lips to match her dress.

Wearing makeup tones in the same color family creates a cohesive, natural look. By wearing just a touch of shimmering shadow on the lids, Leighton takes the look to nighttime glamour without overdoing it. Cheeks: Give yourself a burst of glowing color on the cheeks with a creamy-textured blush. I like Avon Be Blushed Cheek Color in Tropical Peach ($6).
Lips: Add a little spice to your lips with a soft, warm shade with orange undertones. Try Stila Lip Glaze in Cinnamon ($22) or CoverGirl Wetslicks Fruit Spritzers Lip Gloss in Tangerine Splash ($5).
Eyes: Apply a glittery or shimmery copper shadow to the lids, such as Urban Decay Eye Shadow in Chopper ($16). Next, apply a rich brown shadow to the crease and blend, using this same shade to lightly line around the eyes for emphasis. Try L'Oreal Wear Infinite Single Eye Shadow in Deep Mocha ($4.25). Add a little brownish-black mascara, and you'll be good to go.

Over the weekend, Keshia celebrated this milestone birthday with a celebration in Las Vegas, wearing her long dark hair in a straight, sleek style with trendy bangs.

As for her makeup, the focus was on her heavily lined eyes, as she kept her lips pink and glossy, along with a bronzed complexion. For ideas on how to achieve this fun makeup look at home, read more.

Complexion: Apply a cream-to-powder foundation to even out skin tone and mask imperfections. Try City Base Compact Foundation SPF 15 ($22.50), or for a more affordable version, try CoverGirl Smoothers AquaSmooth Foundation ($10).
