Beauty Marked! A Medium Coverage Foundation

Do you remember last week when I asked you to help me find a brand new medium coverage foundation to replace my old Prescriptives one? Although I think this one is great, the time has come to replace it. You gals did a phenomenal job of finding many more options for me. I have chosen three very different liquid foundations to feature so let's see what you all came up with!

Beauty Mark #1 found by atoxicsparkle is called Benefit Cosmetics Nonfiction Foundation, $30. This liquid foundation provides medium coverage and a flawless looking finish. It feels silky upon application and is available in ten shades to suit the myriad of skin tones out there.

Beauty Mark #2 found by girlinpink is called Clinque Super Balanced Makeup, $19.50. This foundation provides moisture to your face so that it doesn't look dry while also managing to absorb oils so that your face doesn't look too greasy either. It is oil-free and has a natural looking finish.

Beauty Mark #3 found by flutterpie is called Cover Girl Clean Fragrance Free Foundation, $5. It is a lightweight and natural looking medium coverage foundation that won't clog your pores or look cakey and fakey.

Tonight marks the beginning of Slow Food Nation '08, the highly anticipated celebration promoting sustainably grown food. The first-ever Slow Food festival to be held in the United States, the event has been declared "the largest celebration of American food in history" by chef Alice Waters.

I'll be present, along with the other 50,000 people expected to attend, and I can't wait to share my experiences at the taste pavilions with you. I'll also give you the update on what I've learned at the event's panels and lectures. Be sure to check back for my coverage of this groundbreaking event. Abortion Coverage: Missing What Many Never Knew They Had

One of the most convincing arguments for passing the public health plan without abortion coverage is that very few women use insurance to cover abortions to begin with. But if you've heard the statistic that only 13 percent of abortions are billed to insurers, that's not exactly the whole truth.

The Guttmacher Institute, the pro-choice organization responsible for the study the stats were pulled from, contests the 13 percent statistic has been taken out of context and widely used through the media - like, say, in the Wall Street Journal article we linked to yesterday.

While the study does say only 13 percent of first-term abortions are billed to private insurers, that figure is skewed because it looked at all women who had abortions and not just those who had insurance. You can't bill an insurer if you don't have one! The study also did not include women who paid for abortions up front and were later reimbursed.

So what's a realistic number? Nobody really knows because of the private nature of abortions. Another Guttmacher study found that 87 percent of employer-based insurance plans covered abortions, but a Kaiser Family Foundation study found that only 46 percent of covered workers reported coverage. Why such a big a difference? Many women just don't know their insurance covers abortion.

As Congress continues to debate the public health plan, do you care if it includes abortion coverage? Can we miss something so many women never knew they had?

John Mayer Adds More Sex to His To-Do Lists

John Mayer stopped to greet a fan as he strolled along the streets of NYC on Saturday. He wasn't able to be in LA for last night's American Music Awards, as he had a few shows in the Big Apple over the last week and is due to take his Battle Studies promotional tour to Canada tomorrow. John has been doing a fair share of press for his new album and spoke recently with The New York Times about his record as well as his ladies' man status. Here's more:

On dating: "I should be having sex with more girls. It’s crazy to me that in my head, that being 32 and dating women is going to get me in trouble. I can’t even explain to you how terrible that feels, that I equate dating a woman with punishment, shame, guilt, disappointment, reproach, reprimand, persecution. It’s a nightmare."
On taking musical risks: "There’s nothing I’ve done musically that’s been a wild misstep. Basically, you’re saying, can you risk failure? And that’s something that I’m struggling with right now, because in my life, I would like to do something in music that risks a misstep."
On letting personal relationships take over his music: "What is the odd man out - is it the record or the coverage? I’m not going to let it be the record. I think if you’re listening to Battle Studies and you think it’s a record about high-profile relationships, I haven’t done a good enough job."

Robert Pattinson Continues His Chilled New York Weekend

Robert Pattinson stepped out to a Japanese restaurant on Sunday night in New York City, continuing his weekend of relaxation after New Moon opened super-successfully last week. Trying to avoid attention by wearing all black, with a beanie covering his famous messy hair, he certainly had a reason to celebrate! The Ladies Are Short, Long and Shiny on the AMA Red Carpet!

The 2009 American Music Awards descended on the Nokia Theatre in LA last night, which meant a star studded red carpet before the big show. It was a pleasant mixture of long and short dresses on all the ladies, though some even found a way to do both simultaneously like Rihanna in her cutout gown. Carrie Underwood has the early lead in Fab's best dressed poll, but Rih is close behind. Alicia Keys stood out in blue while Fergie's high slit meant she showed off some leg as she posed. Nicole Kidman spent most of her red carpet time on the arm of her husband Keith Urban - speaking of which, check out all the guys here.

Shakira and Selena Gomez cozied up for the cameras in their standout short dresses while Demi Lovato sported some bling around her neck. Announcing the Winners: 2009 American Music Awards

The American Music Awards show is over, and I've got your full list of who earned trophies. Following her big CMA wins, Taylor Swift dominated in the female categories, taking home AMAs for favorite artist in both pop and country categories as well as the top honor of them all: Artist of the Year.

Besides Ms. Swift, there were plenty of others who triumphed, like country act Gloriana, who pulled off a shocker of an upset with Breakthrough Artist over Lady Gaga. (Even Gloriana poked fun at the win, asking the audience to raise a show of hands if they didn't know who they are.) Michael Jackson won four posthumous honors, and his brother Jermaine took the stage with family members to accept on his behalf. I'll be going over all of the highlights from the show tomorrow - including some of my red carpet coverage and notes from the press room - so check back then!
