Stop Messing Around-Get Down to the "Roots" of Things

Oh, Debra Messing, what are you doing? For the most part, she's one hot mama at the unveiling of Saks' new shoe department: Her outfit is fantastic, her makeup is gorgeous... and then there's the issue of her hair. I never thought her red hair was completely natural, but these roots distract from everything else that's going right.

If you're ever in between color appointments, you can avoid this sort of root display fairly easily. Bumble and Bumble makes a aerosol hair powder ($39) that can be sprayed on roots. It's a fine, tinted powder that covers roots while adding volume and soaking up oil. While it's not cheap, it's less expensive than a color treatment-and a worthwhile investment if you know you're going to be photographed!

2008 Primetime Emmy Awards: Debra Messing

As Rachel Zoe would say, Debra Messing is "Shutting. It. Down." on this year's Emmy Awards red carpet. Her skin is luminous and her black eyeliner is perfect. Even her hair, which looks like it might be frizzing up slightly in the humidity, is still awesome - not having flawless, bouncy curls kind of makes sense with her chic black strapless dress. Beauty Tips and Tricks For Redheads

Since it's St. Patrick's Day, I've been thinking about classic Irish beauty. Being that so many Irish women are fair-skinned redheads, I thought I'd suggest a few friendly tips and tricks on how to enhance your specific type of beauty. And, of course you don't have to be Irish for this advice to pertain to you, silly - these red-headed celebs aren't!

Protect Your Hair Color: Whether or not you enhance your hair color, you'll want to give it shelter in the sun so that it doesn't turn orange or brassy. Try misting your hair with an SPF shine spray and use color-enhancing hair products to replenish and maintain your color in between salon visits.

Makeup Colors: When looking for a foundation and/or a powder, it's best to steer away from anything too pink or yellow. In particular, products targeted for those with olive skin will be too harsh. Generally, it's best to choose a neutral, light-beige shade. Additionally, when possible, avoid orangey-red, orange, and overly strong coral shades of lipstick. However, gold makeup is gorgeous on redheads, as are champagne, taupe, and brown eye shadows - so go crazy!
Eyebrows: Frame your fair skin by filling in your eyebrows. Depending on how dark or light your hair is, you'll want to match your brows one shade darker. Going too dark is going to look unnatural, so choose a soft, auburn, or taupe powder.
Skin Care SPF is a must. Since your skin is fair, it will burn easily and can cause wrinkles, redness, peeling, premature aging, and cancer. Be sure to wear a moisturizer with SPF 30, and when possible consider buying cosmetics with SPF in the formula for extra protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

When you're on the red carpet wearing a red dress and you have red hair like Debra Messing, would you wear red lipstick? That might be what one would call overkill, and that's probably why the actress opted for a nude-toned lip instead. As for the rest of her makeup, the funny lady paired that glossy lip color with an orange blush and lots of dark mascara. A few years back, Debra had a little mishap with a messy hairstyle, but for 2009, she's all about the side-swept updo with cascading curls in the front. What do you think? Is she ravishing in red, or is it just OK?

Ladies In The Limelight At The Golden Globes!

Last night's Golden Globe Awards brought together the biggest celebrites in television and film, with leading ladies like big winner Kate Winslet, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Renee Zellweger, Angelina Jolie, Drew Barrymore, Salma Hayek, Penelope Cruz, Glenn Close, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Anne Hathaway and so many more lining up on the red carpet in their glamorous dresses. Newly blonde Drew worked some big hair, while her buddy Cameron and fellow superstar Angelina kept theirs down and relaxed.

Anything-but-basic black was the popular colour for Renee, Kate and Tina Fey, as well as Evan Rachel Wood, Sally Hawkins, and Amy Adams. The People Have Chosen The Dark Knight

Last night at the People's Choice Awards the fans picked Adam, Reese, Robin, Carrie, Ellen, The Dark Knight and more. The stars thanked the fans since if it wasn't for them, well, they wouldn't have that heavy award. Ellen thanked her roommate Portia, and Reese was thrilled with how her year was starting. Dakota Fanning continues to glow as she grows so perfectly. Kate Hudson was late but she made it in time to pick up her Favorite Leading Lady Award and in her quirky speech she thanked birthday boy Ryder. Unfortunately big winners like Brad and Angelina skipped the show and somehow Two and a Half Men still wins stuff. The big winner of the night was The Dark Knight with 5 out of 5 including favorite action movie, cast and movie! Christian Bale kept the facial hair growing but his acceptance speech was short and sweet with his costar Heath top of mind. Click here to see a complete list of last night's winners.
