I recently organized my recipe collection, so when I decided to make a St. Patrick's Day dessert, I looked to my archives to see what recipe gems I could find. I had my heart set on the Irish cream chocolate mousse cake I made for my half birthday four years ago.

Sometimes a fruit mix will do just fine for dessert, and sometimes you need something that feels and taste a little more like dessert. This tasty little Cappuccino Dessert posted by user ces016 looks like it would do the trick. It's probably not for those of you who eat all natural and organic, but for everyone else it's worth a try.

This week, I set out in search of dishes that would commemorate the Vancouver Games. Besides some Montréal items like poutine, I wasn't having much luck with Canadian-born dishes. Then I stumbled upon a specialty known as the Nanaimo bar.

As much as I love gooey, warm, decadent, and rich desserts, sometimes, in the long cold dead of Winter, it's nice to have a cool, refreshing, and bright treat. This lemon mousse is just that — it's tart, yet sweet and incredibly smooth and creamy. It's so good, it's hard not to eat it all in one sitting.

On Sunday evening, the stars in attendance at the Governors Ball, the official afterparty to the Oscars, will be enjoying baked Alaska with espresso glace, Guittard L’Etoile du Nord chocolate sorbet and toasted meringue for dessert. Although it sounds incredibly fancy, a baked Alaska is quite simply an ice cream cake topped with meringue. Take some help from the grocery store and you can serve this elegant treat to friends at your Oscars viewing party.

While chocolate molten cakes may seem ubiquitous, especially around Valentine's Day, there was a time when they didn't exist. The rich and decadent dessert was originally created by accident by Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
According to Saveur, Jean Georges underbaked a cake while working at New York City's Lafayette restaurant in the 1980s— and voila!

While most people automatically think of baklava when they hear the words "Greek" and "dessert," I want to surprise my girlfriends with something unexpected. The Greek dinner takes place after a day of wine tasting, so a make-ahead sweet treat, like Greek yogurt panna cotta, is ideal. A couple of years ago at our annual girls' getaway, I passed out before finishing cooking dessert, and this is a mistake I don't want to repeat this weekend!

This year for Valentine's Day, I wanted to make something special for my nonexistent boyfriend, but I couldn't decide between luxurious red velvet cake or rich fudgey brownies. While I was pondering this dilemma, I suddenly remembered an old recipe for brownie heart cupcakes. Inspired by Martha, I decided to combine the best of both worlds and make red velvet cupcakes with pink cream cheese frosting and brownie heart garnish.
