Vogue fiends, mark your calendars for Aug. 28, the day R.J. Cutler's film, The September issue comes out. But before you prebuy your Fandango ticket, check out the 2.29-second trailer below. It's juicier than juicy, The Devil Wears Prada-ish, but nonfiction! The highlights? Anna admits that her father, once the editor of Evening Standard, convinced her to be a fashion editor and helped her get the Vogue job. Must be nice. Also, designer Thakoon Panichgul likens Anna to Madonna. And Anna tells Oscar de la Renta to axe an outfit she dislikes from his collection. K'tsh, k'tsh!

Ready or Not, Here Stylista Comes . . .

If you haven't already, be sure to watch the first look at Stylista, a new reality show by the CW network debuting Oct. 29. According to the creators, if The Devil Wears Prada were a reality show, it would be Stylista. And Elle's fashion news director Anne Slowely would be Miranda Priestly. At the 2008 Summer TCA Tour, the creators, producers, and cast sat down to talk about the show. Here what Anne had to say.

Oh, and just to give you a sense of her feisty personality, one of the moderators messed up the introductions of the cast, prompting Anne to say, "Don't try to try out for the show." Ouch!

How would you describe yourself to someone who has never met you or doesn't know of you?

A girl from Indiana who got really lucky and has worked very, very hard and has had an opportunity to see the best that the world has had to offer. I mean, my life is a bit of a fantasy, but the hard work keeps it real. As I said before, I love what I do. I feel very lucky and privileged, but I'm also very picky. I've had the privilege to become very centric and very picky.

Do you see yourself as more Miranda Priestly or more Donald Trump, or exactly how do you envision yourself in this role?

Just myself or maybe Lucy from Peanuts, "The doctor is in." No, I actually tried watching that movie (The Devil Wears Prada) with my mother who is 85, and she was like, "I don't get this. Take it off." I was like, "But, Mom, that's my life." She's like, "I don't understand it," so I actually haven't watched the movie. I'm just being myself, you know.

Watching that movie, because obviously Meryl Streep was playing that in an elevated way, did you see certain things reflected in her that you kind of really hoped were not you? Did it give you any moments of self-reflection?

I only watched about 15 minutes of it, but no. I'm not a caricature. I'm not a character. I've worked in this business for 20 years. I feel very passionate about what I do. I've sacrificed a lot to do it. I fought very, very hard. I worked very, very hard. I care deeply about the people who work for me. I will give them everything. I ask a lot. I'm very demanding. We live in a very rarefied world, so I think it's really easy to think that we are sort of shallow aesthetes, but we're not. We're very smart. We work very hard. I do over-complicate things. I have five planets in Virgo. I get very particular about my coffee. I have trained staff in hotels in Paris and Milan to get it right. You put the cold milk in first, you don't put the hot espresso next with the ice. People think I'm a little nuts, but I like things the way I like them.

How would you change the fashion industry?

I'd make it cheaper so more people could buy more stuff. I wouldn't change a thing. It's evolved over the years. Not too long ago there wasn't even such a thing as pret-a-porter. It was all couture, and that really came after World War II. It's become very corporate. Perhaps what I would do is I would wish that these giant companies might channel more money into schools for people, young designers and give them a chance. Honestly, that's what keeps the industry going.

What exactly does a fashion news director do?

I go to the shows. It's grueling, you know. You're working from 9 in the morning to 2 in the morning. Basically, sitting, getting backaches in chairs, watching a lot of not great fashion and then every now and then you have a brilliant moment. And then I distill the trends. I conceptualize stories for the reader, for the Elle reader specifically, who's very . . . you know, we don't look down on fashion at all. It is really personal. It's all about personal style. I like to have a lot of fun with it. If you read the stories that I edit and write, we usually try to have a sense of humor about it. It's sort of like "Adventures in Fashion Land."

I have moments I just look around me, and I'm at dinner with Karl Lagerfeld and all of his fancy friends, and I'm just like, "How did I get here?" But then, you're there for work, so I've got to get back to business.

Anne Hathaway: A Fashion Metamorphosis

I confess I wasn't very fair to Anne Hathaway when I decided to explore her fashion metamorphosis. I thought I would be greeted by a fashion war zone when going back through the actress's history. The proof is in the pictures that Anne has always had a sense for fashion, but she has undoubtedly come into her own as of late. I cringed a couple times, usually around circa late '90s, but then again, all of us have cringe-worthy photos stashed somewhere. But come on, her wardrobe in The Devil Wears Prada won over all naysayers. One thing to note is that the menswear trend Anne has dabbled with lately is nothing she's unaccustomed to - she previously wore suits and even a tie on some red carpets. Most significantly, this enlightened me to the fact that Anne hasn't turned her back on any trend; she has accomplished sexy, innocent, girlie, and fashion-forward. I think we have a well-rounded risk taker on our hands!

FABTV: A First Look at Stylista

Fashion TV fans get ready for another addictive show: The CW's Stylista. Brought to you by Tyra Banks, and ELLE magazine's Joe Zee and Anne Slowey, this reality show will reveal a day in the life with the real Devil Wears Prada. Here's a first glimpse as the office peons prepare breakfast for the statuesque blonde ELLE fashion news editor. It's a bit tongue in cheek as we see the teetering editor strut through the office wearing Yves Saint Laurent's oversized star necklace. The best bit? After she makes her announcement to the fashion wannabees and the trays start a shakin'. Cute, but devilish indeed.

Fall TV Preview: Ugly Betty

Ugly Betty is one of the most highly anticipated shows this season. Betty premieres tonight at 8/7c on ABC. The show is executive produced by Salma Hayak (who does a hilarious cameo in the first episode!) and is based on the wildy popular Colombian telenovela, Yo Soy Betty La Fea. Its roots may be in telenovelas, but you can't help but compare the show to this summer's hit, The Devil Wears Prada.

Betty Suarez (America Ferrera, The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants), a somewhat unfortunate looking, but extremely genuine and hard-working girl from Queens, lands a job as the Assistant to the Editor of the extremely fashionable Mode magazine. Bradford Meade (Alan Dale, The OC), head of Mead Publishing, Mode's parent company, hires Betty to keep his womanizing son and Editor of Mode from continuing to sleep with his assistants. Other notable cast members include singer/actress Vanessa Williams as Wilhelmina Slater, the extremely bitter Mode fashionista who is not at all happy about being passed over for the top spot by the Boss's son.

According to reports, Ugly Betty will differ from The Devil Wears Prada in that it will not make over Betty, she will continue to be her charming self throughout the season. We enjoyed the first episode and can't wait to see where it's headed. The only observation we had was why they felt the need to make this an hour long show. It seems like it would be more appropriate for a 30 minute sitcom but I am hoping ABC proves us wrong.

Oscar Worthy-Gadgets: The Devil Wears Prada Phones

Fab may have been checking out the hot messenger bag by La Rue that Andy carries in The Devil Wears Prada, but my eyes were locked on the Sidekicks that seemed to sneak into every single street scene in the movie. In fact, I even noticed a movie goof: At the end of the movie when Miranda, played by Meryl Streep, calls Andy, played by Anne Hathaway, in Paris, Andy looks at her T-mobile Sidekick and it's ringing. The phone shows Miranda's name and under it, it says, "Connecting." For it to say that, Andy would have had to call Miranda and her phone wouldn't have been ringing.

IMDB clued me in to another Sidekick blunder: In one scene, Andy throws her Sidekick into the fountain, she is holding it in one hand. The reverse shot of the face of the Sidekick shows her holding it with both hands. Still, Anne, Meryl and Emily Blunt looked smashing in the whole movie and their Sidekicks were just as flashy. Sienna and Anne For Marchesa

Sienna Miller and Anne Hathaway both looked absolutely stunning as they walked the red carpet for the 2nd anniversary party of British fashion label Marchesa in NYC. Sienna played host at the event wearing the label's creation, and Anne looked stunning proving she doesn't need her Devil's wardrobe to look fabulous. Here's more:

Sienna, who stars in the upcoming Factory Girl, was invited to host the Bergdorf Goodman bash by Marchesa design duo Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig. And the 24-year-old style icon was, naturally, sporting one of the label's creations when she turned up at the star-studded event.

Launched in 2004, Marchesa is the hot label du jour for red carpet affairs on both sides of the Atlantic, also including Felicity Huffman, Penelope Cruz, Mischa Barton and Scarlett Johannson among its high-profile fans.

Like Sienna, Salman Rushdie's statuesque wife Padma Lakshmi was showing off her pins in an elegant cocktail number, while The Devil Wears Prada star Anne, who admits to being something of a tomboy as a little girl, delivered full-on silver screen glamour in figure-hugging scarlet gown.
