Mad Men: This Week's 5 Maddest Moments

Far fewer feet were cut off in this week's episode of Mad Men, but there's still intense imagery. The way the episode kicks off, with a bloody Don, Peggy in bed, and Betty on a fainting couch, you know this installment, "Seven Twenty Three," is going to be explosive.

The Flash Forwards: Peggy, Don, and Betty are all shown lying down somewhere in vastly different situations - clearly these are the three paramount plot lines for the episode. I have to say, I really liked the subtle drama of the flashes.
Old Yeller: What's with Don yelling at the women in his life? Peggy is the first victim of his wrath when she dares to ask for a spot on the Hilton account. Then he shouts at Betty at home for having an opinion about his contract. What crawled up his gray flannel suit?
Duck, Duck, Peggy: When I wondered how Duck Philips would turn up this season, I did not think it would be in bed with Peggy. Duck's seduction of Peggy really only seemed like it was to get her to Gray; I didn't see a sexual thing coming. I mean, his name is Duck. He's not exactly the smoldering Lothario that Don is. Listening to his dirty talk is weird - even though it's pretty clean, it still scandalized me. The two tense encounters Peggy has with the main men in her life - Pete and Don - seem to be what make her vulnerable enough to have a "go-round" (I know, what?!) with Duck, who's sort of the anti-Don (Très has even more questions about this one-night stand). P.S. I love that no one notices that Peggy comes to work the next day in the same outfit she wore the day before. Classic.
Burt Blackmails: Am I dense for just not caring that much about the Conrad Hilton account? It's kind of cool to see real-life people integrated into the storyline, but he only appears to be there to press the contract issue. Right when I was telling my TV, "We get it Don, you don't like to be tied down," little old Burt Cooper shows up in Don's office and makes a reference to his knowledge of Don's true identity. And by making a reference, I mean he blackmails Don into signing the three-year contract. Burt's play is the most interesting thing about the contract; I'm glad it's finally wrapped up.
Don and the Bad Scene: You know you're having a bad trip when your dead, abusive dad shows up, tells you hillbilly jokes, and insults you. From the flashes of Don bloody and face down in a motel room, you know Don's headed for trouble when he leaves the house. He really sticks his foot in it this time; somehow, taking two barbiturates washed down with whiskey while driving seems excessive, even for Don. Fine, Don: no one can control you. Getting punched in the back of the head and then robbed is what his flash built up to; is this some kind of a rock bottom, or is he still on the way down? (By the by, it's realistic by now, but the fact that there's no fallout with Betty when Don takes off, stays out all night, and comes back with a facial wound cracks me up.)

So do you think we're going to see more of this Don/Dick Jekyll and Hyde thing? I won't be surprised if we do; the first scene of this season recalled Don's beginnings as Dick. What else were you intrigued by? Betty's involvement with the politician? Miss Farrell's somewhat bizarre interaction with Don about hitting on her? Each of these couples might make a perfect match, but the combination of their last names is something else. TCAs Get Private, Dirty, Desperate and a Little Bit Grey

Some of the big names at ABC hit the stage at the TCAs in LA this afternoon. Even though there was no specific Grey's Anatomy panel, the show was still the first thing on everyone's mind when Shonda Rhimes entered the room - check out all of that on Buzz. Sigh, love Peter Krause. As for Desperate Housewives, Eva's haircut is adorable in person, she got it since she was told to get a "mom" cut and didn't want to wear a wig, and we should expect to see her looking glamorous again by mid season. Mark Cherry also jokingly admitted how the 5 year flash forward got out, "I made the mistake of telling one of my actors, and the next thing I read it in the Times, going, 'Damn it, Marcia.'" GiggleSugar Interviews: Victoria Jackson

Saturday Night Live alum Victoria Jackson is well-known for her send-up of the ditzy blonde. With a tiny voice and goofy antics, Victoria became famous on Johnny Carson's The Tonight Show where she performed stand-up while variously on a balance beam, doing handstands, and playing the ukulele. She went on to perform on six seasons of Saturday Night Live, working with the likes of Mike Myers, Phil Hartman, and Chris Farley. Victoria still does stand-up (of the handstand variety), records ukulele CDs (!), and acts in movies. She granted this interview to promote the newly released Christian comedy DVD Thou Shalt Laugh: The Deuce, which features a night of stand-up comedy hosted by funnyman Tim Conway. Without further ado, here's Victoria in her own words...

GS: How did you get your break in comedy?
VJ: My big break was on The Johnny Carson Show. I was doing standup in L.A. while doing handstands and playing the ukulele, and a scout from the show contacted me.

GS: Did you expect that comedy would be your life’s work?
VJ: When I was a kid, I wanted to be a teacher, mostly because I liked chalk…But I got the comedy acting bug when I was at Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina. A friend was auditioning for a play and I was with her. Her drama teacher suggested that I act. Once I did it, once I was up on stage, I realized I was controlling the audience with my feather duster, and I became addicted.

GS: You were on Saturday Night Live from 1986 to 1992. You were only 27 years old-what was it like to reach the comedy big time? Were you nervous, intimidated?
VJ: Well, I was married and had a baby at 27, so I thought I was grown up. I’m 48 now and feel like a kid, but I thought I was really mature back then! Auditioning made me nervous; I knew it could change my life if I got the part. And SNL was a very stressful environment. It was survival of the fittest. The more you wrote for the show, the more you got to perform. So while Mike Myers was writing six sketches a week, I was doing like two a year and staring at blank paper in my typewriter.

GS: Was live television nerve-wracking?
VJ: I didn’t mind live television. As a gymnast, I was used to being on a balance beam four inches wide, with judges rating my performance, so I was used to the adrenaline rush. Actually, if I didn’t have that, I would die. I finally left SNL because I was going through a divorce, I wanted to spend more time with my daughter, friends were leaving the show…and I ran out of ideas.

GS: As a female standup comedian, do you feel women are treated differently when they’re on stage? Are people’s expectations different?
VJ: I don’t like when people complain about being a woman in comedy. I think that’s B.S. It was survival of the fittest on SNL whether you were a dog, horse, woman, man. I mean, comedy is different for women-different things are funny for women and men. When Chris Farley was dancing with his belly jiggling, for example, it was funny. If I were in a bikini doing it, it wouldn’t have been funny-it would’ve been sad. But I don't think the treatment is different.

GS: What’s been your favorite part of participating in Thou Shalt Laugh: The Deuce, and what would you like our readers to know about it?
VJ: I like that there are no bad words and no sexual innuendoes. I had this cab driver recently who asked me what I did, and I said I do standup comedy. “So you tell dirty jokes?” he asked me. That’s what people associate comedy with now! The best comics-Jerry Seinfeld, Steve Martin-they don’t have to be dirty. I don’t know what’s happening in this country that that’s what comedy is associated with. Aside from that, I got to meet Tim Conway!

Suri's a Star, But Tom Is Making Waves Too

The Suri sighting just got sweeter since we are able to bring you even more pictures from her special day at the park with Daddy. This little one always gets our attention, but it was her daddy who made a splash at a screening of Tropic Thunder in LA on Tuesday night. Apparently his small cameo as a dirty movie mogul was more than just a nod towards Sumner Redstone, who spurned Tom and cut him loose back in 2006. Those who saw the movie were impressed with his performance as well as the timely joke. Apparently Tom stole the show and since we've been following this already crazy sounding movie, now we have even more of a reason to be intrigued.

Ah, The Smell of Hillary

Would you want to smell like Hillary Clinton? How about like Barack Obama or John McCain? April Cline hopes you do. The West Virginian woman has created a line of fragrance called Presidential Perfume just in time for the down-and-dirty politickin' season.

The $25 eaux de parfum and body cremes come in three varieties, each inspired by - but not endorsed by - a different candidate:

Hillary: a "delicate floral" with notes of jasmine, violet, rose and musk.
Barack: an energetic scent with notes of bergamot and musk.
John: McCain's fragrance incorporates notes of bergamot, water lily, lavender, cool greens, and "frosty musk."

Although the candidates may have different platforms, it seems they all inspire musky smells. (There's an Eliot Spitzer joke to be made, but I won't go there.) So far, the best-selling scent is Hillary, but Barack is a very close second. And as for John? Cline says the sales are "few and far between."

Group Therapy: Can Virgins Be Sexually Frustrated Too?

Okay, this is quite embarrassing but discussing it in this forum makes me feel better because everyone gives big sister advice so here it goes.

I am a 20-something year old virgin and lately (as in the past few months) I have been thinking about sex ALL THE TIME. I mean I'm not virgin because of religious reasons, I'm just waiting until I find a boyfriend that that I really connect with.

If people tell dirty jokes or talk about sex, my attention span wanders. I don't know what it is but I'm sexually frustrated! What's going on with me?! Is this normal?

Charlize Plays Cowgirl

Charlize Theron looks beautiful as Vogue's October cover girl where she manages to make cowboy hats and chaps look glamorous and sexy. Charlize has proven that she's much more than just another pretty face and in the article she talks about her frustrations with Hollywood's obsession with looks and exposure. Here are highlights:

"Doing press on North Country really pissed me off. 'Yet another transformation!' And I was like, I didn't do anything! I went into a mine and I got dirty. I was doing press in Rome, and I had to walk out of one interview. The journalist said, 'Another ugly role!' Then I heard Bill Maher make a joke about it on TV. 'You know what, Charlize? Seriously, like, we get it. Enough with the ugly roles.' I just went, It's so unfair. I understand what happened with becoming Aileen. But to try to put that on every other character I play? It's like I have to walk such a fine line because I don't want people to think I'm a one-trick pony."
"...but there's a sadness in that the longer you stay in this career, the harder it becomes to get people to sit in a theater and not focus on your looks. Maybe that's why I try to keep my private life so private and why I don't want to be an InTouch celebrity. It's why I don't have any patience for paparazzi. It's just not something that helps me at all."

Charlize makes a good point but like any actress, you have to deal with highs and lows, even if it means suffering through some backlash. Besides, she's been rewarded twice with Oscar nominations (and one win) so she must be doing something right.

Mary-Kate's Just Missing her Bonnet

Mary-Kate may be looking a little Salem Witch Hunt Era-esque with the all-black dress/hunched-over body* in these pictures, but that doesn't mean she's not happy on the inside. See, she's in New York with her boyfriend, rocker** Max Snow, to celebrate her faux-dad's DVD release. Happiness all around.

The party ended up being a bittersweet reunion, however, when Bob Saget learned that his father passed away earlier in the day. At least his favorite little Michelle Tanners were there to help celebrate his movie and be there for him during the hard time. And to laugh at his dirty jokes. And probably field any number of inappropriate comments--he's Bob Saget, after all.

* Yeah, people's posture wasn't very good waaaaay back in the day. Plus, there was no such thing as color, I'm sure of it.

** I'm not sure why I refer to him as such. Is he in a band even? Or just looks like he should be?

KROQ's Almost Acoustic Christmas

LL may be going to AA but that hasn't cut back on her nightlife. She made it out last night to score some swag and also attended the KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas event in Universal City this weekend. The annual event takes place over two nights and included Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, AFI as well as older favorites like Beck, Foo Fighters and many more. Here's highlights:

Beck...married his set to a marionettes show at the back of the stage. 30 Seconds to Mars raced through the aisles dressed in Santa Claus costumes. Cee-Lo and Danger Mouse also came as Santas and the rest of Gnarls Barkley dressed as elves (the singer introduced himself as "Dirty Santa and the Ho Ho Hos").
Gnarls Barkley had...enough charisma to last all night in singer Cee-Lo, whose between-song banter and perma-smile certainly brought good tidings of joy. "This is the very reason I am rich and famous today," Cee-Lo said as he introduced the Grammy-nominated "Crazy."
"We're the only band without a Christmas gimmick," Evanescence singer Amy Lee joked backstage as the Gnarls girls rushed to the stage behind her. "I don't care though. That's metal."
