Lighten Up! President Obama Stars in The District!

Newsweek has outdone itself in the funny department by creating a faux-Obama reality show filled with voice-overs, stares, and close-ups - just like MTV's The City. The District will chronicle President Obama's first 100 days as reality TV.

Just like Whitney Port, President Obama has a new career to promote, but first he must learn the rules of his new hometown. Unlike The City, the drama in Washington, DC is a bit less manufactured. Enjoy!

Out and About: Illinois' Chicago Park District

Welcome back to PetSugar's Out and About feature! After two weeks of holidays, we're starting up again in the midwest with the state of Illinois. Even though it's pretty chilly in Chicago at this time of year, pet owners still make the dog-friendly areas of the Chicago Park District full of life. With twelve official spots listed on their website, doggies need a permit and tag to play at all parks including hardtop hit, Wiggly Field, and warm-weather standout, Montrose Beach. The rules require all shots and vet visits be up to date, and a purchased seasonal tag ($5) that's valid from 1/1 to 12/31 with no sliding scale offered. While it's great that the city wants to keep pets safe, visitors must plan ahead to get this documentation for their pals to avoid a $500 fine!

ELIGIBILITY:
Open only to permanent legal U.S. residents physically residing in the fifty (50) United States of America and the District of Columbia. Entries generated by script, macro or other automated means are void. Normal time, toll, connection and usage rates, if any, charged by your Internet service provider will apply. All entries become the property of the Sponsor.
By registering and entering your photo(s), you will be agreeing that your registration and any other information collected in connection with the Contest may be used by Sponsor in accordance with Sugar Publishing, Inc.’s Privacy Policy and may be shared with Sponsor’s affiliated business entities, and that you automatically opt-in to receive email, text messages or other communications from Sponsor. You may subsequently opt-out of the receipt of such email or communications by following the directions in the email, communications or by contacting Sponsor directly.
All registrations must include entrant's valid email address. SELECTION:
GeekSugar editors will select their top ten (10) entries from the photos submitted to the Cool Capture group as described on the entry page between between 12:00am PDT on Monday, November 23, 2009 and 11:59pm PST on Sunday, December 6, 2009 (the “Entry Period”). The top ten (10) entries will then be posted for PopSugar community members to vote on their favorite photo. The photo with the most votes during the voting period will be the winner. In the event of a dispute regarding the identity of the person submitting the entry, the entry will be deemed to be submitted by the person in whose name the e-mail account is registered. The Contest will be conducted under the supervision of the Sponsor. The decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding in all matters relating to this Contest. The winners will be notified by email and/or by private message through the winner’s PopSugar community account; Sponsor reserves the right to determine the method of notification. Winners must claim their prize within three (3) business days after the date of notification of such prize. A Contest winner's failure to respond to the prize notification within the specified three (3) business days will be considered such Contest winner's forfeiture of the prize and an alternate winner may be selected from the pool of eligible entries. If an entrant is found to be ineligible, an alternate winner may also be selected from the pool of eligible entries. Sponsor reserves the right to ship prizes directly to the email and/or mailing address provided by winners during their entry to the Contest. Each entry submitted in response to the Contest and in accordance with the rules will constitute an official entry. All entrants agree to abide by these Official Contest Rules. PRIZES:

Decisions of the Sponsor are final and binding with respect to all matters related to the Contest. All prizes will be awarded. In no event shall the Sponsor be obligated to award more prizes than the number of prizes stated in these Official Contest Rules. All prizes won by minors will be awarded to their parents or legal guardians on their behalf. Winners shall be responsible and liable for all federal, state and local taxes on the value of their prize. Robert, Kristen, and the New Moon Cast Pause to Party

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner were together for last night's special NYC screening of New Moon along with their many costars. It looks like they split up for the afterparty, though, with Robert and Kristen spotted afterward looking far more casual on their way out of a lounge in the city's Meatpacking District. The official afterparty was held in a different neighborhood at The Box, where Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr were spotted making a hasty retreat in the rain. Ashley Greene, Nikki Reed, and Peter Facinelli were also there to party with a select group, and he even stopped to pose with fans on the way out. Elizabeth Reaser and Taylor had to rest up for an appearance this morning; he headed to The Today Show, so check his interview out after the jump.

Ben Takes the Town While His Girls Have Fun in the City

Violet Affleck was full of energy after another day of school in LA yesterday. Mom Jennifer Garner was right behind, with her hands full of Violet's many accessories. Later in the afternoon, Jen was off taking care of some business while Violet and Seraphina took a walk with their nanny. Violet was still looking enthusiastic, as she kept pace alongside Seraphina.

Ben, meanwhile, was still hard at work on The Town in Boston. He had Jon Hamm and Rebecca Hall for company, though, as they spent the afternoon filming around the city's financial district. Ben and his cast are back in Massachusetts after a recent trip to Connecticut, where they shot gambling scenes at the Mohegan Sun casino.

A Peek Inside the New Twitter Office

The coolest kid on the Internet has some new digs! The Twitter crew moved into their new offices in San Francisco's SOMA district yesterday, and a friend gave me a sneak peek at their new office. My favorite part: the "@" symbol light I spotted a couple months ago decorating their lounge area.

The new offices are packed with more geeky details, too. The entire office is wifi-enabled, and each of the concrete conference tables is wired for meetings. There's an arcade game in the corner, and a DJ booth (yes, DJ booth) featuring turntables, an iMac, and several Sonos music systems. And as a cute, low-tech touch, adorable "Home Tweet Home" pillows welcoming employees to the new office. Check out the evidence below.

US STD Rate Highest of Developed Countries - and Rising!

Let's talk about sex . . . or else! According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, reluctance to talk about sex is keeping STD infection rates on the rise in the US, especially among teens. After practically being eradicated, syphilis is resurgent, and chlamydia and gonorrhea are also at "unacceptably high levels." Thanks to our prudishness, the US has the highest rate of STDs of any developed country in the world.

It's no secret that abstinence-only sex education is popular in America. Thankfully, after confronting the fact that abstinence-only education does not effectively reduce STD infection rates, some school districts are moving to abstinence-plus education, which reasonably stresses the importance of using protection if a teen is sexually active.

Of course, parents can also do something to reduce STD risks by providing a little sex education at home. When I asked a while back, more than half of TrèsSugar readers said their parents avoided having an awkward conversation about contraception. Maybe these new statistics will remind parents that reducing health risks are worth a few uncomfortable minutes.
