McFly Rock Out In Manchester!

Those handsome boys from McFly have been touring the UK recently - check out these amazing live photos of their Manchester gig - and are now taking a well earned break before they head off to Brazil at the end of the month. You may have spotted them on Hollyoaks last week, while Dougie Poynter was rather miffed after seeing it, tweeting, "Dude, they cut my line from hollyoaks! My line was:.....no way.... It's Just My Luck all over again" Poor Dougie!

It's an exciting time for the band as they have their Radio:Active Live At Wembley DVD being released today, a handful of TV appearances before they leave for Brazil, and then some UK dates when they return, including the Isle of Wight festival. Dougie and Frankie Celebrate Rochelle's Birthday

It was another birthday date night for McFly's Dougie Poynter and The Saturdays' Frankie Sandford on Saturday night, as they stepped out for Rochelle Wiseman's birthday bash. Frankie's not the only bandmember to have bagged herself a famous beau though, as Una Healy had her sportsman boyfriend Ben Foden on her arm. I love Mollie King's rather eye catching pink dress, she looked stunning, and Vanessa White's yellow dress brought some of the weekend's sunshine to their night out! Hope you had a happy birthday Rochelle!

Dougie and Frankie's Birthday Date

Do I see a new supergroup on the horizon? It was The Saturdays' Frankie Sandford's 20th birthday at the weekend, and her bandmates took her out in Covent Garden to celebrate in style. Her boyfriend Dougie Poynter from McFly was also on hand to make sure her special day was perfect - and get blinded by the camera flashes! - along with his bandmate Tom Fletcher. Frankie's been in the business for a while now, she and her bandmate Rochelle were in the S Club Juniors, and she's admitted that she was concerned how McFly's fans would react to her dating one of their beloved band. However, she says that for every nasty comment, she gets "eight nice ones".

Tom Can McFly Live On Stage!

Following their trip to Brazil, and surprise appearance on stage with the Jonas Brothers while the American teen sensations were in London, McFly played an energetic live show in Nottingham this week. The show was a success with hysterical fans throwing their knickers on stage at the band! Tom's very active on twitter these days as they're recording some demos for their next album between shows, and revealed that they're working on another song about female aliens. Interesting! 2008 Nickelodeon UK KCAs: The Show And The Winners!

We brought you all the orange carpet polls and pictures from the Nickelodeon UK Kids' Choice Awards yesterday, and now it's time to get on to the show and the award recipients! Big winners yesterday included Ant and Dec who won three awards, and TV series Drake and Josh which won two awards. The show's stars Josh Peck (who I loved in The Wackness) and Miranda Cosgrove picked up the Kids' TV Show award, and Josh also picked up the TV Actor gong. A hot topic with the American actors on the orange carpet was Russell Brand's hosting of the VMAs, of which Josh said:

"I think he's brilliant and his humour's on a different level. I think sometimes it's lost in translation... on some people... unfortunately. If I had hair like that, I'd grow it out, no question. And the tight jeans, that's just good-looking - you want something that hugs your privates."

One thing that doesn't get lost in translation is Simon Cowell, who must be feeling very popular this morning as he won Best Baddie in the UK, an award he also got earlier this year at the American KCAs! The kids also got plenty of trademark slime, as Dannii and Josh were among those good-humoured enough to be covered in the stuff, and there were performances from McFly, George Sampson, Signature and The Saturdays.

2008 Nickelodeon UK KCAs: Arrivals On The Orange Carpet

Today FabUK, BellaUK and I have all been focused on the 2008 Nickelodeon UK Kids' Choice Awards, so make sure you check out all of our love it or hate it polls! Dannii Minogue was hostess for the ceremony (which will be televised next weekend) and she turned up looking stunning in a beautifully glam silver and blue dress.

The Saturdays showed up in their trademark matching outfits, I wonder if they ever get bored of all dressing similarly?! Those gorgeous boys from McFly looked casual as they jovially posed for photos, while Heidi Range kept it smart but simple in a high waisted black skirt and shirt with absolutely towering heels!

UK Celebs Celebrate Halloween!

While the US celebs certainly pushed the boat out for Halloween in their costumes, here in the UK our stars dressed up too! Jonathan Ross held a celeb-packed party, The Saturdays enjoyed a birthday / Halloween bash while Anna Friel, Pixie Geldof and others put on their gladrags and went out on the town. What spooky fun!!

Do Ya Like McFly's Zombie-Filled Christmas Video?

McFly released their Children In Need single "Do Ya" yesterday, and they've also filmed this festive / zombie themed video to go along with it! It's a family Christmas with a kooky McFly twist as Dougie, Harry, Tom and Danny end up playing to a load of zombies, what a scary gig! So, let me know do you applaud this video? Or will you avoid seeing it again?

Radio:ACTIVE by McFly - Fun High-Energy Power Pop

In July, McFly gave away their album Radio:ACTIVE with a Sunday newspaper, and today they've put the CD out on general release, adding three extra tracks (including latest single "Lies") and a two part documentary about the making of the album and the promotion that followed it.

If you're a McFly fan (and I love those boys) you know what to expect - big choruses, catchy riffs, and strong hooks that create alternately fun and angsty power pop melodies. On this disc - their fourth album, but the first on their own record label Super Records - they've amped up the guitars and energy on all the self-penned tracks. The stand-out songs are "Lies", "Smile", "Corrupted" and "The Last Song", but I enjoyed the album as a whole, though it could be said that a couple of the tracks feel a little too similar.

As I mentioned, the DVD has a two part in-depth "The Making of Radio:ACTIVE" documentary, with the first part following the boys in Australia as they made the album. It has input from hyperactive producer Jason, manager Fletch (who you may have seen on short-running MTV series America Or Busted) and various other people who work with the band. We get a peek behind the scenes at Harry's competitiveness, and Dougie as the permanent target of the others' pranks, and then we get a walk through the songs on the album. There's a whole bunch of footage of their down time too including clips of the amiable boys doing some surfing, a funny section where Tom is hypnotised on stage in Australia at a comedy club, and shaky footage of the band skydiving. The second part of the documentary shows the band promoting the album, including their time at T4 On The Beach (see if you can spot me!), their Olympic party performance and shooting their latest bizarre video for "Lies".

All in all it's a great package for fans of the band, and those curious about the making of the album. If you're not too bothered about the DVD and packaging though, you could preview and buy the individual extra tracks on iTunes.

McFly Take Olympic Baton Along With Will and The Feeling

McFly have been announced to play the massive Olympic Handover party that will take place in London at the same time as the Beijing Olympic Closing Ceremony on August 24th. Other acts playing the concert near Buckingham Palace include Will Young, Scouting For Girls, The Feeling, and James Morrison. Tom, Harry, Dougie and Danny also played Pop In The Park in Cheshire on Saturday and got some teenage hormones a-jumping with some tracks from Radio:ACTIVE and some older hits too. I bet those 40,000 people who were allocated tickets for the Olympic party can't wait for the 24th!
