Girls, girls, girls: Everybody needs a little extra hair refreshment now and then, and award-winning Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo ($19) is a hair care staple for reader Nikisix. Here's what she had to say about this oil-absorbing product:

I have always washed my every day, even when I know I'm not supposed to. But my hair would get so greasy at the roots I could never break the cycle. I've tried other dry shampoos that came as a spray and they just made my hair feel gross, and ultimately wouldn't last. Pronto, however, is fantastic. It lasts well over one day, so I'm now able to wash my hair every other day. It's great, and the fragrance isn't too overpowering. I could see how brunettes might not like the white powder, but it works great for my blond hair. Will definitely buy again.

Product Review: Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo

Klorane Extra Gentle Dry Shampoo With Oat Extract ($16) has been my savior ever since I discovered it about a month ago. It's the perfect solution for when your hair needs a proper washing but you just don't have the time or the energy.

What I love about this product and why I think it stands apart from other dry shampoos is that it feels light on your hair. And since it's odorless, it's not going to overpower your perfume (something you better be wearing if you haven't showered that day)! And since the product is delivered through an environmentally friendly aerosol spray, the powerful mist gives your head really great coverage without having to rub your hands through your hair (which would make it even oilier).

Simply spritz, wait two minutes for it to absorb, and then brush your hair out well. That's all it takes to keep your hair looking fairly fresh throughout the day. The drawback is that it will really only last you one day. After that, my darlings, you're going to have to find the time to shower the good old-fashioned way!

John Frieda's Root Awakening Nourishing Moisture Shampoo is formulated for dry hair, but it also works to help feed roots. Reader Brandysbug tried out the newer shampoo recently, and here's what she had to say:

I usually need to apply a hair mask after shampooing/conditioning, but I skipped it the past two days when using this shampoo, and my hair has been super silky and shiny. Plus, the eucalyptus scent is so refreshing in the morning.

Charles Worthington Results Balancing Act Dry Shampoo

I've had a bottle of Charles Worthington Results Balancing Act Dry Shampoo (£4.55) in my closet for some time now, but didn't try it out until last week. Boy am I bummed out that I waited so long - this product is nothing short of a savior in a bottle!

I'll start by telling you how awesome it smells. The scent is a clean, crisp, fresh and not overly flowery to mask your dirty hair smell (yes, I know that's gross, but it's true). Instead it actually seems like it's dry cleaning your hair and taking the odor away entirely. Also, it has a light and consistent mist that doesn't concentrate in just one area. I believe this is the reason why, (unlike some other dry shampoos) it won't leave your hair wet when you first spray it on, rather it simply and instantly absorbs any grease.

Lastly, what makes it stand out is that if you hair is fine (like mine) after going a day or two without washing, it tends to get limp. This helps give it texture and even a little bit of volume.

I won't tell you that this is some kind of miracle product, because it's not. It's just a really good dry shampoo that I'm excited to recommend. The effects won't last for 48 or even for 24 hours. In fact, depending on how oily your hair is, I'd give it about five to six hours max, which is enough to get you through an afternoon at work, or an event in the evening. After that ladies, I'm afraid you're going to have to bathe!

Product Review: Toni & Guy Label. M Dry Shampoo

It's going to take a lot for me to stray from my favourite Klorane Oat Milk Dry Shampoo, but after using Label. M Dry Shampoo three times, I'm happy to report that this is almost as good.

The lightweight, airy powder absorbs quickly in the hair, without leaving a thick white coating behind that can sometimes require massive amounts of brushing before disappearing. The spay nozzle is powerful and it has a wide wingspan, so a little bit goes a long way. However, the best part still is that this Toni & Guy version is less expensive than Klorane!

Truth be told that this has been my secret weapon throughout London Fashion Week. I received it inside of a free goodie bag at the Bryce D'Anise Amie Show and have been using it since to refresh and revitalize my blow-outs. So far. it's worked like a charm and hasn't weighed my hair down in the slightest. The only drawback for me is the rich, flowery scent. I tend to hold my breath while I spray or else I find the fragrance a tad overwhelming. Do you have a go-to dry shampoo?

Product Review: Biolage Oil Control Treatment

What makes this Biolage Scalpthérapie Oil Control Treatment ($16) so unique? It's a cross between a dry shampoo, a scalp stimulating treatment, and an anti-dandruff prevention product. It contains glycerin to help absorb any excess oil and mint and kola nut to energize and balance the scalp. Guys will love it too. There's that fun tingly element to it when you spray the product onto your scalp, plus the scent is clean and refreshing without being floral or sweet.

I also have to mention the nozzle because the pointy appendage on the spritzer indicates to me that this company has thought long and hard about hair. It allows for precise application as opposed to other dry shampoo powders that can sometimes concentrate and clump in one area of the hair and/or scalp. All you have to do is aim it at your scalp and massage it in. Tip: your hair will look much better if you brush it out after you spritz.

I liked that I saw immediate results. Once I worked it into my scalp a little bit, I noticed that my hair wasn't separating and shining as much as before. Most of the oil was absorbed and it really helped increase the longevity of my blow-dry.

Yay, thumbs up to Biolage. I was hoping this old-time brand would redeem itself after my last unfortunate conditioning experience, and it didn't let me down.

Reader Review of the Day: Living Proof Straight Making No Frizz Styling Treatment

Living Proof's Straight Making No Frizz Styling Treatment for Thick to Coarse Hair ($24) is one of the newest frizz-fighters on the market, and it promises everything from a humidity barrier to the ability to repel dirt and oil so that you can go longer between shampoos. Reader sabriel2 finds that it does deliver in some areas, but still gives it mixed reviews. She says:

I have long, thick, dry hair, so I was pleased with the amount of straightening and control I got when I heat-styled after using this. The only thing is that it left my hair feeling lackluster, kind of "gummy" to the touch, and hard to style - and I hadn't even used that much. The next day, the product buildup was even more nasty. I wouldn't recommend this to someone who doesn't wash their hair every day, but it does straighten fairly well.

I like so many Burt's Bees products, but I'd never even heard of Burt's Bees Shea and Grapefruit Deep Conditioner ($8) until reader Yogaforlife reviewed it. It sounds great, though, and I'm really glad she mentioned it. She says:

"I normally use Pureology shampoo/conditioners to protect my color-treated hair in between salon visits, but I noticed that my hair felt really dry lately. I wanted to try a hair treatment and a friend recommended this. I shampooed like normal and then put this conditioner on. I left it on for about 20 minutes and then rinsed it using cold water. When my hair was wet and I tried combing it, I must admit I got a little scared that it didn't feel super slick like most conditioners leave my hair. Once my hair was dry, though, it felt incredibly soft and shiny and smelled so good. I now use this once or twice a week, and it's made such a difference."

There are so many shampoos out there that claim to do various things, so it's nice when you find something simple and un-gimmicky that works well. Reader laratf says the Ted Gibson Daily Cleanse ($25) has a lot to recommend it despite its high price:

"You [only] need a very small amount of this to get a good lather. Ted Gibson Daily Cleanse leaves hair really clean without stripping it or drying it out. I am loving the scent and the texture of my hair (which I abuse daily with a flat iron and blow dryer). GREAT stuff."

This is my favorite toning shampoo. Every hair color - dyed, highlighted, or natural - fades and gets brassy from time-to-time. This is the only at-home product I've ever used (gloss, color-focused shampoo, etc.) that I've seen an actual result with. I usually lather up twice and let the second round sit for a few minutes while I tend to my other shower-related duties. When I dry my hair afterwards, it looks like I've gotten it freshly touched up at the salon. It's been my life saver as both a redhead and a blonde.
