The New Nintendo DSi LL Is Bigger But Is It Better?

That rumored new DSi, with the larger 4.2-inch screen? It's real, and it's coming to Japan on Nov. 21. Said to be priced around $220 and eventually making its way to Europe in 2010, the DSi LL will be released in dark brown, wine red and natural white and as you can see here, the screen is remarkably bigger than the previous DSi, which had a 3.25-inch screen and the DSi Lite which had a 3-inch screen (the outline shows the size difference). The DSi LL is said to also offer a better better Internet surfing experience. I love how Nintendo is always shaping its products to consumers wants and needs, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see the DSi going even bigger.

Ghostwire For Your DSi Looks Freaky, Fun: Are You Into It?

If you like SciFi's Ghost Hunters, Most Haunted, and hey, maybe even The Ghost Whisperer, then you're going to love the latest game slated to hit the DSi Store later this year. Called Ghostwire, this game uses your Nintendo DSi's cameras to search your pad for spirits, apparitions, and EMF's so you can be your very own Ghostbuster. I love ghost stories, and this game brings them to life since you can pan around your room, suddenly see a ghostly figure hanging out by your closet, then poof! It's gone. Kinda freaky, and yet, kinda fun. I'd recommend this game for your (or your 12 year old's) next sleepover for a modern-day twist on the Ouija Board. Yeah, I said it, Ouija.

Make Your DSi's Camera More Effective With a Flash

Although the DSi isn't available in stores yet, the accessories are already rolling in. Sure there are some cases, some "starter kits" coming with extra accessories, but what about something that actually improves your DSi?

Special Delivery: An Early Look at the Nintendo DSi

As you know, I've been anxiously waiting for the arrival of the Nintendo DSi (which comes out this Sunday), but lo and behold, I got a special delivery in the office yesterday: a Nintendo DSi cake and the DSi itself! After taking in the craftsmanship of the cake, I dove into the DSi to take a few first impressions.

Right off the top? The DSi's looks haven't changed much from its predecessor - it is a bit lighter, but definitely feels more rugged with its matte finish. As expected, the dual screens have a richer color, and the two cameras (one facing you and one facing outward) take some pretty impressive photos for being just 0.3-megapixels. Actually, some of the funnest features of the camera come with the distortion and customization tools you can play around with, like turning your face into a kaleidoscope. It reminds me a lot of Photo Booth that comes standard with a Mac, and who knows how many hours I've spent playing around with that!

Although I wasn't able to test out the DSi Shop or buy any games with my 1000 free Shop points (it goes live April 5), I had no problem picking up Sugar HQ's WiFi signal, which is a good sign for online play and downloading. I'm kinda in love with the DSi's music feature. Not only does it play back your own music (which almost makes the DSi the only portable entertainment system you'll need), but you can record short sound clips of your own as well. And just like the camera, you can distort the clips - run them backwards, forwards, and even drag your stylus to change the tone.

Overall, the DSi brings the fun of the DS Lite, but with more bells, whistles, and things to play around with when you aren't involved in a game. Stay tuned for a full review of the DSi next week when I can open up the DSi Shop, and really take this baby for a test drive!

Your DSi Is Sneaking Around and Hooking Up With Facebook

Well, it will be soon anyway. One of the features that I love about the Nintendo DSi is the fun photo editor, and in the next Nintendo DSi update coming this Fall, you'll be able to send those hilarious custom photos directly from your DSi's photo library to Facebook. And as we all know, eventually, everything ends up on Facebook.

Japan and the UK will enjoy this feature first, but it will be a cinch to install for everyone. Just go to the DSi Ware section, download the free update and the Facebook app, and you're all set to go to upload your DSi photos to your online album.

Playing Around With the DSi: Now With Video!

Nintendo's DSi Shop Gets Prices, More Details

More details about the DSi were announced during the Game Developers Conference today, including the consoles downloadable content prices. The DSi Shop will allow you to download tons of games through your wireless connection, which will cost anywhere from 0 - 2000 points per game. The point-to-dollar system seems pretty standard (and perfectly reasonable) with 100 points costing one dollar.

There is some bad news coming for you Game Boy Advance fans with this new console roll out: your GBA cartridges will no longer work in the DSi like they did on the DS and DS Lite. However, to make up for it (and to encourage early adoption), Nintendo is tossing in a free 1000 points to all you gamers that pick up the DSi before October. That way, you can download your favorites so you don't go through GBA withdrawals. They are the classics, you know.
