TV Tonight: Duel

A battle of reality-show wills kicks off tonight when NBC's special singing event, Clash of the Choirs, faces off against ABC's week-long game show, Duel. The tournament-style Duel pits 24 contestants against each other in a battle of trivia and strategy, with the winners from each of the game's first five nights moving on to face each other in Sunday's finals.

Based on a French game show, Duel pits contestants head to head in a match that mixes Who Wants to Be a Millionaire with Vegas-style gambling. Contestants place bets on how sure they are that their answers to various trivia questions are correct, and right answers drive up the jackpot - while just one wrong answer gets a player sent home.

Questions cover a wide variety of pop culture trivia, from the number of eyelids on a camel's eye (three) to which footwear company uses Heidi Klum's designs (Birkenstock). Of course Duel requires knowledge, but there's also luck involved; I had several great rounds on the show's online game, then hit a string where I didn't know even the first question. Duel also adds in strategy, with the betting and the twist that each winner gets to choose his or her opponent in the next round.

In general, I've found TV trivia shows too drawn-out for their own good ever since Millionaire. But the fact that this one is only six nights long makes me want to see what it's all about. Will you be watching Duel? To watch a preview, just read more.

From breastfeeding to diaper changing, everything is a learning experience for new parents. While the trials and tribulations of having and raising the first child are no secret, many get accustomed to the routine of a first born and choose to bring another tot into the mix. While some folks find the task of juggling two little people (or eight, or 19) more difficult than just one, others feel that the second baby is a breeze compared to the first.

Lindsay and Samantha Skip Valentine's Day in Miami

Lindsay Lohan and Samantha Ronson were all over NYC this weekend, which means they skipped out on commitments to host and DJ a Valentine's Day party in Miami on Saturday. While there are rumors another blowout fight is behind the cancellation, the girls asserted that it was sickness that kept them. Ronson said, "We really feel bad, and I work sick when I can, but unfortunately I couldn't drive to Miami, so I'm stuck in New York City with doctor's orders not to fly. Any reports otherwise are false and unfair." Lindsay was supposedly also coming down with something - possibly the girls had dueling ear infections? - and the event was rescheduled for March 7. Lindsay wasn't too sick to miss a day of shopping or to hit the Fashion Week events like the opening of the Matthew Williamson store last night.

Get the Bod: Britney Spears

This week belongs to Britney Spears: between her Circus album dropping (can we say new workout songs?) and her standing-ovation-worthy performances, we seem to be witnessing the pop star's long-awaited comeback. Britney worked hard getting back into world-tour shape, and she admitted to Glamour magazine that she thinks going to the gym "isn’t fun . . . so to do it every day would be horrible. Three days a week is cool, even two. It makes me feel good and feel like I’ve done something. It's important to take care of your body."

Britney acknowledged dueling feelings toward her post-baby body and said, "Recently I started to appreciate my body a bit more from before I had kids. But it completely changed." Her rigorous dance practices and workouts with her trainer, Kacy Duke, are responsible for the pop star's toned physique. Are You Buying These Vibrating Mascaras?

There's a considerable amount of buzz about two mascaras: Ôscillation from Lancôme ($34) and TurboLash ($30) from Estée Lauder. The dueling products both promise to add volume, length and curl to lashes through their vibrating wands. TurboLash sold out immediately upon its July debut, and Ôscillation had 21,000 names on a waiting list before launching this week.

Of the two, I've tried only TurboLash. It's a good mascara that delivers natural-looking, long and separate lashes. But it's not as though manually wiggling mascara through my eyelashes is a huge burden, so I doubt I'll replace regular mascaras with vibrating ones permanently. What about you - have you tried these? Are you interested?
