Just Before Easter, Two New Easter Movies Announced

Just in time for this year's Easter weekend, two new Easter-themed movies have been announced - and they actually sound pretty darn adorable. Check it out:

Hip Hop - Sony Animation has preemptively picked up this script, planning to make it a mix of CGI and live-action. In the movie, "Easter Bunny decides to retire and hides out as a pet with a suburban family, turning their lives upside down. The tone is being described as along the lines of Alvin and the Chipmunks and The Santa Clause."

I Hop - No, not like the house of pancakes (though I kinda hope they do some kind of promotional tie-in). Anyway, this is the one that I think sounds cutest: "In I Hop, the Easter Bunny is hit by a car driven by a slacker. When the bunny can't hop because his leg is broken, the driver must train to take over the job and save Easter." Though it's probably meant to be a kids' movie, I kinda wish Seth Rogen would play the slacker in I Hop.

Looks like 2010 is gonna be hoppin'. (Ugh. Sorry, sorry!)

Bunny Hop Your Way to a Happy Easter

Happy Easter!!!!!

I just wanted to share a couple of my favorite versions of bunny hops with you. Remember doing bunny hops on your bike when you were a kid? Well maybe not quite as high as the one pictured here...but I have to show this 'cause I think it is so cool. Here's a refresher on hopping your bike. It is easier on a BMX bike so you might need to borrow one from a little kid if you don't happen to have a BMX bike of your own. Now, if you are going to attempt this trick, please wear a helmet. Thank you.

Now on the slightly tamer side of life is the dance. Who didn't do the Bunny Hop when you were little? Who still remembers how to do it? Here's a little refresher in case you have forgotten the moves. It is not complicated, but it is sure to make you giggle.

I happen to think that knowing a plethora of nonsensical information is an incredibly fun conversation starter, especially in awkward or uncomfortable moments. Roundup: I Want Some Bunny to Love

While most people associate the Easter bunny with the Christian holiday, according to Saxon tradition, the Easter bunny is the earthly symbol of the pagan goddess Eostre who was worshiped in the pagan festival of Eastre, which was a celebration of Spring. Only much later, when Germans brought the legend to the United States, was the Easter bunny integrated into Easter Sunday festivities.

Whatever the stories surrounding the origin, I love the Easter bunny - heck, I love all bunnies (unless they get in my garden, and then I get hopping mad). Although it may not exactly be tradition to send cards for Easter (Christmas, yes; birthdays, yes), I'd be delighted to receive this Hippity Hop Letterpress Bunny Card ($3.50). I'm loving the cute bushy tails and long whiskers of this quintuplet of rosy bunnies. Considering that Easter is fast approaching, and Spring has officially sprung, I most definitely endorse sending some in celebration of the vernal equinox, too. If Trix are for kids then bunny love should be for grownups, right?
