Pepsi Halloween Cans: Love Them or Hate Them?

For Halloween, Pepsi released a special limited-edition costumed can. Instead of the typical jack-o'-lanterns or orange and black theme, however, the soda company simply printed Halloween-related words like boo and ghost on the cans. Have you seen them in stores? What do you think of the design?

Website of the Day: Mypictr

So now that you've secured your perfect Facebook URL, and are all over the Twitterverse, you're going to want a selection of profile pics to swap in and out on a regular basis. I mean, you don't want your adoring fans and followers to get bored, right? So if you just want to crop a new and cool photo on the quick, without having to open up Photoshop or iPhoto, just use Mypictr.

Mypictr allows you to upload a photo from your computer and quickly crop to either highlight your face, or just edit out the rif-raff in the background. It's easy to use and quickly gets the job done.

First of all, join the Website of the Day group.
Click the pink "Share" menu on the top left side of the page.
Choose "Blog" and "Regular Post."
Give your story a "Title."
Fill in the "Body" with a link to your favorite website and the reasons why you love it.
Click "Next."
Choose the audience for your story to "Website of the Day" in the dropdown menu.
Add keyword(s) (for example mine for this photo was "Website of the Day").
Change channel to "Technology and Gadgets."
Fill in tag field with relevant tags.
Click "I’m done" to submit content.

So join the Website of the Day group and share information about all your favorite sites! Yours just might end up on the geeksugar homepage!

HP's Envy 15 Beats LE Comes Bundled With Dre's Headphones

I'm already in love with the sound quality of Dr. Dre's Beats headphones I tested out last year, so getting a free pair with an HP computer bundle would be pretty sweet. Add this to your already-expanding list of free online photo- and video-editing websites, but one that provides endless entertainment in the process: Masher. Not only can you upload your videos and edit them for free, put together an impressive photo slideshow of your last shindig (and set it to music), but you can browse through free clips from sites like BBC Motion Gallery and Rip Curl to add some flavor to your flicks. Once you're finished, you can upload your masterpiece to the site for all to see.

We all want to have perfectly cropped and edited photos to post to our Flickr accounts, but how can you do that if you are working without some reliable software? Take it online that's how. We received this question from TeamSugar member bluespirit who wanted to know more about free photo editing software:

"I've wanted a free photo editing program for awhile now but can't afford something like Photoshop. A simple Google search turned up quite a few results, but which is the best free photo editing program out there?"

Good news for you, my photo-loving friend, because I have posted a ton of suggestions for amazing (and free!) online photo-editing sites here already. But to see my suggestion for you, and to find out which site is my current obsession, just read more.

Since you mentioned you'd love to get your hands on Photoshop, but can't afford the price tag, you should check out Photoshop Express. It contains most of the tools you'll find in the full-scale version, but it's online and free! That's right, free.

The photo-editing site that's rocking my boat right now is Flauntr. Flauntr lets you edit like you're in Photoshop or iPhoto, plus it helps get your photos out of your computer and into the hands of friends and family all in one stop.

Fab Plays Dress Up With Edition by Banana Republic

One thing's for sure: Banana Republic isn't afraid to try new things. Last year they opened a concept store in NYC housing their limited edition BR Monogram collection. They're having another go, but this time with accessories and in the company's hometown, San Francisco. Given the uncertainty of the economy, and the popularity of costume jewelry, it's interesting that Banana has chosen to offer luxurious accessories at affordable price points - most of the Edition items are under $100. This is somewhat of an experiment - the Edition store will be in San Francisco's Westfield Centre, only. Not online, not in the shopping mecca we know as New York City. The store itself with be different from Banana stores, displaying items in open cases so people can play dress up . . . and we did in our SF Sugar offices!

The BR folks let us fawn and fondle over the Edition pieces. I was most drawn to the semi-precious, Bollywood-esque pieces, but there were also ultra modern goodies. Handbags will also be a part of this collection; intricate hand-woven details and soft leathers in of-the-season colors. We bid Banana luck in their Edition experiment!

Considering Nicky Hilton consistently wore Matthew Williamson for H&M before it came out, I'm not surprised that she's the first celebrity to jump on the Gap CFDA Design Editions line. Girl knows her fashion. She recently went out in LA wearing Vena Cava's Khaki Zip Dress ($88). And guess what? I also have it! If you're not already, start sporting and supporting the stylish collection. It's khaki at its hottest.

Fab Ad: Gap Design Editions, Summer '09

I was on the fence when I first peeped Gap's latest Design Editions team-up, but seeing its ad campaign has changed my outlook. Shot by Craig McDean, the shots feature models Raquel Zimmerman, Anna Jagodzinska, Arlenis Sosa, and Coco Rocha wearing khaki collaborations from Alexander Wang, Vena Cava's Lisa Mayock and Sophie Buhai, and Albertus Swanepoel. I love the fun, no-fuss fashion angle and the clothes - which retail between $40 - $88 - look cute and wearable.

The plain background allows the cool khaki creations and models' bright faces to take the forefront. Also, notice how each designer is posing alongside his/her designs. That way, we know who designed each item. Effective yet simple. What do you think?
