Matt Damon Has Two Ladies and One Cameo

Matt Damon spent his Friday night hard at work on The Adjustment Bureau in NYC. He was joined by Emily Blunt for the late shoot, and his Ocean's Thirteen costar Ellen Barkin even dropped by to say hello. Matt's currently all about his film project, but he took a little time last week to speak about his ONEXONE charity at the Clinton Global Initiative. He'll also be showing up to promote his organization on the season finale of Entourage, and a recently leaked video from the set shows an enraged-acting Matt telling off Adrian Grenier's Vince - check out the video below.

2009 Sundance Spotlight: Brooklyn's Finest, The Informers, 500 Days of Summer

While I won't be heading down to the 2009 Sundance Film Festival this year, I will be sorting through the humongous pile of festival entries to share with you some of the films I think look most promising. From quirky documentaries to talented young filmmaker debuts to a potential runaway hit, Sundance is filled with entertainment possibilities. Here are today's selections:

Brooklyn's Finest
Directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), Brooklyn's Finest just became this year's first sale at Sundance. Apparently "Senator Distribution nabbed North American rights . . . on Saturday night, 24 hours after its world premiere at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival. . . Senator says it will release the film in the fourth quarter for awards consideration." According to Senator president Mark Urman, the company "went into aggressive pursuit right after Friday's screening." Wow! All of this spells good things for the cop drama which features a stellar cast (Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, Wesley Snipes, Ellen Barkin). The plot is described as: "Three unconnected Brooklyn cops wind up at the same deadly location after enduring vastly different career paths." The guy responsible for the screenplay has a unique and intriguing story himself (you can read about it here). No clips available just yet, but now that it's been purchased I'm sure we'll hear and see much more about this film in the future.

Two more great-looking movies, with talented folks like Zooey Deschanel, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Mickey Rourke, if you read more.

The Informers
Well, the long-awaited movie adaptation of Bret Easton Ellis's collection of short stories is upon us. The movie, starring a whole lot of people from the '80s and early '90s (most notably Mickey Rourke, continuing his amazing career comeback) is about LA in the '80s in all its beautiful, indulgent, moral-decaying glory. The Informers also includes Kim Basinger, Winona Ryder, Billy Bob Thornton, Chris Isaak, and the late Brad Renfro (his final role). I have mixed feelings about this movie, but then again, any trailer that includes a song by A Flock of Seagulls deserves a chance in my book.

500 Days of Summer
Oh, man. Could these two be cuter together? I think not. I was so excited when this casting news first came out and I'm even more thrilled that the movie's premiering at Sundance (to not-bad reviews so far) and has a release date (July 24) and now has a super cute teaser trailer (see below!). At first glance, the movie's description sounds like a little tale of unrequited love (boy loves girl, girl doesn't believe in love) but here's the part that got me really curious: "energized by dance numbers, split screens, and two dynamic performances from Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel." Citing a lack of stories to tell in a second season, HBO won't be bringing back Tell Me You Love Me after all, Zap2it reports.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Ridley Scott's Nottingham movie (starring Russell Crowe as Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller as Maid Marion) has been "indefinitely postponed."
Alexis Bledel and Scott Porter are joining Julio DePietro's romantic comedy The Good Guy, ComingSoon reports.
Harvey Keitel will play a detective in ABC's Life on Mars, marking the first time he's taken a regular TV role, the New York Times reports.
Billboard has the news that Coldplay's album Viva la Vida climbed back to the top spot on the U.K. charts.
Showtime is developing a drama about Studio 54 called Studio, writes Hollywood Reporter.
Ellen Barkin, Ving Rhames and Rob Corddry will star in the indie comedy Rogues Gallery, Variety writes.
Family Guy showrunner David A. Goodman will adapt Blatant Comics's Last Blood into a horror film, according to ComingSoon.
Entertainment Weekly reports that Nelly will guest-star on CSI: NY as a club owner.

Stars Come Out to See Country Girl in the Big City

Some of our favorite actresses from the big screen got dressed up for the theater in NY last night at the opening of The Country Girl on Broadway. The show stars Morgan Freeman, Frances McDormand and Peter Gallagher, who were all out afterwards to celebrate their big night with the likes of Julia Roberts and Amy Adams. Natalie Portman and Kirsten Dunst both looked perfectly content to be flying solo without their new - one rumored, one real - men. While the play itself is getting mixed reviews, it's hard to believe that there will be any trouble selling tickets while such an all star cast is up on stage.

Clooney Might Have to Settle For Actor/Director/Producer

George Clooney was the last man standing from the Leatherheads cast, with neither Renee Zellweger nor John Krasinski showing their faces at a screening of the film in NYC last night. He did have the support of Bruce Willis, his close friend Ellen Barkin, and Julianna Margulies - which is a fun little treat for fans of old-school ER. Clooney looked like he was in good spirits as usual, but behind the scenes of his new movie, things have been less than perfect. The Writers Guild of America refused to give him writing credit on Leatherheads, even though he claims to have written most of the film. As a result, George has decided to become less involved with the WGA, even though he'll stay on as a member. Even if Clooney got burned a little, he's got plenty of other talents to keep paying those bills.

Behind the Seams: Dining With Diane, Revelations With Rachel

Here's something worth losing my gloves in the taxi for . . .

I had the honor of attending Diane von Furstenberg's postshow dinner. In her fabulous studio next to her store in the Meatpacking District about 200 fashion folks (Ann Duong, Hamish Bowles, Suzy Menkes) and celebs (Molly Sims, Ellen Barkin, Susan Sarandon, Rachel Zoe, Rose McGowan) wined and dined. While I usually leave the celebrity doings to Pop and party talk to Party, it was an exciting, all-encompassing evening. When I wasn't with my new-found friends at Fashion Week Daily, I was taking pictures for you guys and talking to Ellen Barkin. Oh, and sipping bubbly.

Catered by long-time fashion favorite restaurant Indochine, the lady of the hour looked at ease and happy after another successful runway show. There was a giant screen with the Super Bowl playing - it was the NY Giants playing, after all. Amongst all the stimuli, it was also shoe heaven. Party goers had clearly gone home after the shows to change into less comfortable (more fabulous) shoes.

Because it was open seating, I chose to sit at the same table as Molly Sims and Rachel Zoe. Molly on one end, Fab on the other. We ate, drank, and chatted, like any normal dinner. Molly ran over when the fashion crowd gave a loud cheer to the game - what?! Fashion and football do mix . . .

Five minutes with Zoe! We gabbed about her new show on Bravo. She said it was more documentary than anything. We will see what she does day to day and she thinks it’s cool for people to see what kind of a job a stylist has. It takes place in LA and NY, even more so in New York with all the designer cameos. But don’t worry - there are plenty of celebrity drop ins.

We talked jewelry. I told her about how since reading her book I’ve tried to wear more. She complimented my earrings - art deco stolen from my mom. Coincidence: One of her gold bracelets was stolen from her mom. Get out! So I said the less-is-more philosophy is not really her thing, she said no way, "more is more." And that’s how she felt about life in general. Here’s where we got spiritual. She expects more from people and life and thinks people should push themselves and do what they want to do. Obviously the woman loves excess, but it was cool to hear how she translates that into her everyday life. She thanked the Sugar sites for saying nice things about her and I thanked her for being so nice to me. Zoe + Fab = BFF.

That's about all I recall from my fashion and celebrity sprinkled evening with DVF's gang. Now I have to go over to Saks when I have a break between shows and buy some new leather gloves. I wonder which ones Rachel would recommend . . .

Javier and Amy Are Among The Critics' Choices

Last night in NYC some of the years biggest breakout stars like Javier Bardem and Amy Adams came together with old favorites at the 2007 New York Film Critics' Circle Awards. The winners were announced last month with both Amy and Javier among them and his No Country For Old Men taking home the honor for best movie of the year. Maggie and Peter left the baby at home for the night and Bella wants to know what do you think about her more natural look? Javier's not looking so bad himself these days, though his girl Penelope wasn't by his side for the night. Who knows, this may not be the only award Javier wins this week - with the Golden Globes on Sunday he may be getting another statue for his mantle.

The studios offered the striking writers a new contract that promises increased earnings when work is viewed online. Singer Lou Diamond Phillips and his wife welcomed a baby girl named Indigo Sanara on Oct. 9. Hopefully their new marriage and baby are excellent signs that everything has smoothed out between these two. Congrats to the family. - People
