New Mom Naomi Watts Admits She Isn't Sleeping

Naomi Watts may look like a million bucks less than two months after baby Samuel's December birth, but this morning she admitted to Ellen that she isn't getting any shut-eye. The mama to two lil ones (she and partner Liev Schreiber also have one-year-old Alexander) said on The Ellen DeGeneres Show:

I'm getting no sleep - literally, because I'm feeding all through the night. He's still eating every three to four hours... I'm really never grounded these days.

Naomi, who is promoting the film The International, also admitted Alexander has "regressed a little bit" and wants attention whenever his bro has middle-of-the-night feedings. Getting enough zzzs is an enormous challenge with a new baby, especially when juggling two youngsters, but most lilsugar readers have Naomi beat by six to eight hours per night. Did you suffer complete sleep deprivation when your child was born?

CNBC's Money Honey Doesn't Have a Credit Card

What's one way to make sure you never go into credit card debt? If you never have one in the first place. Ellen DeGeneres couldn't believe that CNBC's Maria Bartiromo, a.k.a. Money Honey, doesn't own a credit card and the two briefly chatted about the topic when Maria was a guest on Ellen. Maria explained that she uses her debit card and doesn't own a credit card, but she's considering getting an American Express card because it requires you to pay off your balance in full every billing cycle. Ellen does ads for Amex and she got a kick out of the company's mention. Check out the exchange in the video below.

Mariah Carey Called Champagne Fattening - Is She Right?

When Mariah Carey tried to get out of a champagne toast with Ellen DeGeneres as a guest on Ellen, she initially reacted to the host's persistence by exclaiming that champagne is fattening. When Ellen proceeded to hand her a glass of bubbly to toast to Mariah "not being pregnant" (a trickster, that Ellen!), Mariah tried another route and said that it was too early in the day for alcohol.

The first thing that comes to mind when I think of champagne isn't the word fattening, as it apparently is for Mariah, but the singer does have a point. When you're attending one holiday party after the next and clinking glasses with everyone you know, those fun servings of bubbly can add some serious calories to the other holiday fare. It's OK to toast the season with a little champagne, but control your calories by drinking this beverage in moderation. One 4.1 fl. oz. glass contains 91 calories (similar to a serving of white wine), while an entire 25.4 fl. oz. bottle has 495 calories.

Save Your Money: The Chin Gym

I was watching some old Ellen (I know, I am obsessed with her) videos the other day and came across her mom, Betty, trying out "As Seen on TV" fitness contraptions. One product, the Chin Gym, caught my eye as I thought there was no way this product existed but I was wrong, it does exist.

The Chin Gym ($39.95) is basically a really complicated looking contraption that promises to reduce the double chin and define the jaw line by trimming, toning, strengthening and removing wrinkles from chin, neck and jaw line muscles. Here is the deal, the only thing really able to rewind the effects of aging and gravity is plastic surgery if you are willing to go that far. If you're looking to remove excess fat from your facial area, unfortunately there is no real way to spot reduce target areas like your chin or your back. I know I may sound like a broken record, but it is true: Exercise and eating a healthy blanced diet are the only real ways to get rid of fat (without going under the knife) including your chin and back. Talk show hosts, the book business, and the media are scrambling to keep up with the buzz around a controversial, new self-help book, The Secret, which is currently the best-selling title at Amazon.com. I'm including links here and here to articles discussing the value and legitimacy of the book's promises, so you can do a little research before spending your cash. I took away one useful thing -- a reminder, really -- from the interview I watched with Ellen. We're advised to change our thoughts and the language of our thoughts, but in order to do that, of course, one must become more aware of them.

Now there are multiple studies that confirm the ways in which our thinking impacts our physical bodies, and thus our moods, through neural and chemical processes, so I can get on board with that challenge. I felt resolved -- after considering the interview and other things I know but haven't implemented, ahem -- to stop every day at 2pm and write down as many of my thoughts as I can remember from the day, in exactly the words I was thinking them. In this way, I hope to become more aware of my patterns, of what I choose to focus on and how I describe things to myself. I'm going to do this for 2 weeks, see what I can learn about myself, and make a plan for recasting the thoughts I believe are limiting my life. I don't want to attract anything, per se, just hope to get clearer and cleaner about myself. Anyone care to join me in the exercise?
