With his dreamy eyes and kind-looking but intense face, Emile Hirsch has something of a poetic air about him.
His movie choices have been eccentric and moving — from a young gay man coming of age in San Francisco in Milk to the inscrutable character in Into the Wild who sets off to live in the wilds of Alaska. Now, he's in Taking Woodstock, and I can't wait to see it!

I wasn't sure what to make of the trailer for Ang Lee's Taking Woodstock; it seems like such funny material for the Academy Award-winning director of Brokeback Mountain and The Ice Storm.
Then again, maybe there is more of a dramatic arc here with comedian Demetri Martin's role as a shy, closeted teen. Is it the story of his coming out, his family's role in putting on the legendary festival, or is it just an excuse to put Liev Schreiber in a dress?

Claire Danes stepped out in NYC on Wednesday night for the premiere of Taking Woodstock. Her usual red carpet sidekick, Hugh Dancy, was off promoting his own movie Adam, but she was joined by a few other leading men. Liev Schreiber and Sebastian Stan posed for photos without their own partners, Naomi and Leighton, while Emile Hirsch brought along his lady friend Brianna.

Emile Hirsch stepped out of his car and into the street as he headed to a taping of It's On With Alexa Chung in NYC yesterday. His new movie, Taking Woodstock, hits theaters at the end of August but it seems like Emile is getting a head start on promoting it. The comedy looks different than his role in Milk, but those of us who have been fans of the actor since The Girl Next Door know he's got the range to shine in all kinds of genres.

Emile Hirsch spent his Monday night partying at Guy's in LA with a few friends. He usually hits the town with his girlfriend Brianna on his arm, but it looks like this one was an evening just for the guys. A toast was in order for Emile, as he was one of the actors recently invited to join the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen finally had its big LA premiere last night ahead of the movie's release tomorrow. Sexy in white Megan Fox and Shia LaBeouf were once again attached at the hip on the red carpet. Michael Bay may have been ready to pitch a fit about the sequel's promotional budget, but Shia and Megan have been making sure all eyes are on them as they brought it around the world.

The next generation of entertainers hit the red carpet in LA last night at the Young Hollywood Awards. There were plenty of statues to go around at the star-studded ceremony, with Ed Westwick, Emile Hirsch, AnnaLynne McCord, and Adam Lambert taking home honors. Adam found time to show off his vampire moves with Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke, while Bar Refaeli and Kellan Lutz made the rounds together.

To sparkle, or not to sparkle. That just may be the question when Catherine Hardwicke takes on some of William Shakespeare's most well-known material and makes it into a "modern-day supernatural thriller." The Twilight director is apparently teaming back up with Emile Hirsch (the two worked together on Lords of Dogtown) for this adaptation of Hamlet, which was initially Hirsch's idea.
