The Time Traveler's Wife: Doesn't Fulfill Its Destiny

What makes the book The Time Traveler's Wife so magical is how well it marries two genres: romance and sci-fi. But the big-screen adaptation leans more toward old-fashioned Hollywood love story, with the attendant schmaltz and a touch of slapstick.

Fans of the cherished book - myself included - had many hopes and fears about the film. Although the movie didn't make me swoon, it is satisfying to see the story on screen, and the movie is very sweet in parts. Still, what should be an epic tale and a first-rate tearjerker sadly let me down.

Rachel, Brad, and Eric Look Heavenly at Time Traveler's Wife

Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana got a special visit from their executive producer, Brad Pitt, at the premiere of The Time Traveler's Wife in NYC last night. The actress showed off some skin in her dress and was without a date amid rumors things are over with Josh Lucas. Rachel recently compared life as an actor to the film saying, "Actors are gypsies and we're constantly going in and out of our lives and jumping into others. As a person who travels a lot, I hope that the person I am with would be patient with me, because that's the nature of my life." Fresh off traveling cross-country, Brad was also decked out in white - the opposite of his and Angelina's black-on-black at Monday night's big premiere of Inglourious Basterds in LA. Only Eric had his partner by his side, wife Rebecca Gleeson, at the screening and afterparty.

Brad, Eric and Rachel Time Travel In NYC

New movie The Time Traveler's Wife had its premiere last night in New York city, with stars Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana dressing up for the occasion. Rachel looked stunning in her extremely low cut white dress, which Eric looked dashing in his suit. Brad Pitt also attended the event - his company Plan B productions optioned the rights to make the novel into a movie before author Audrey Niffenegger had even published it. It's released here in a couple of weeks, will you see it or skip it?

Funny People Celebrate the Latest From Judd Apatow

A handful of Hollywood's most hilarious actors and actresses gathered together for the premiere of Funny People in LA last night. Eric Bana and Seth Rogen suited up while Adam Sandler kept to his casual style. Leslie Mann made a splash in her all-pink ensemble, but Rashida Jones looked equally gorgeous in muted tones - what lipstick shade do you like best on her? Director Judd Apatow had three dates for his big night, though his wife and daughters earned their tickets with roles in the film. On July 31, we'll get to check out the film, and it already seems like a home run with such an entertaining cast.

The Time Traveler's Wife - See It or Skip It?

This new movie is based on the novel The Time Traveler's Wife, by Audrey Niffenegger, which follows the lives and eventual romance between Henry and Claire. They meet when Claire is six and Henry is in his 30s, and marry when she is 20 and he 28, which is possible because Henry can time travel. Rachel McAdams and Eric Bana star as Claire and Henry in the film, which comes out on 14 August. I'm looking forward to it, as I enjoyed the book, but I'd love to know what you think - will you see it or skip it?

Movie Preview: The Time Traveler's Wife

Phew! It's finally here. The fact that we've waited this long for the The Time Traveler's Wife trailer - and the fact that the release date has been pushed back (originally to February 2010!) - had me mighty worried, not gonna lie. I wondered if there were serious issues with the movie that might ultimately delay the release even more, or I thought the studio was ashamed of it! But now the trailer is here and it's just . . . beautiful. And tender, and sweet, and filled with love.

For those who haven't read the book, it's a story about Henry (Eric Bana) and Clare (Rachel McAdams) whose love is unique because Henry can travel through time. Their relationship spans Clare's entire life as Henry travels to various points in Claire's past and future. The movie is now scheduled to open Aug. 14. To check out the trailer, read more.
