You know, it's really hard to try to incorporate color into your wardrobe when Supers like Claudia make black, white, and nude look so good. Claudia attended the 2009 Fashion Fringe launch party in London looking like a modern Barbie doll. I also want to give a shout out to her wearing pants - you can do a lot with cool pants, but so many celebs veer toward skirts and dresses. And cropped pants no less. An animal print blouse spices things up while nude suede sandals elongate. Some fun is even delivered via a baubly bracelet. I think I'm in love . . .

Fab Flash: Fashion Fringe Announces Semi-Finalists

Fashion Fringe is a prestigious award and has launched the careers of many famous names including Basso and Brooke, Erdem and more recently William Tempest. The winning ceremony takes place during London Fashion Week and is judged by Donatella Versace, Natalie Massenet of net-a-porter, Colin McDowell and Grazia's Paula Reed.

The ten semi-finalists have just been announced as Damba Mihrican, Edna Cole, Elliot Atkinson, Go Tell Them, Jasper Garvida, LD.DA, Masha Ma, Romia Karamanea, Teatum Jones and Yelena Smirnova.

Colin commented, "Once again we are amazed at the variety of talent and the diversity of approach which applicants to Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden bring to the platform each year."

The semi-finalists will now attend a technical day at London College of Fashion where they'll be interviewed and assessed before the final four are selected. Good luck to all the finalists!

Behind the Seams: Fashion Fringe Launch

Last night, the 2009 Fashion Fringe competition launched in London with a star studded party. It was hosted by Vanity Fair, Donatella Versace and Colin McDowell who began the search for the next big name in fashion. Donatella resumed her position as honorary chairperson and revealed support for 2009 from a range of guests including Natalie Massenet of net-a-porter, Antoni Burakowski, of Antoni and Alison, and Grazia's Paula Reed.

Natalia Vodianova, Claudia Schiffer (if you like her look recreate it for less here), Roland Mouret and Holly Branson also attended the party. This year they added an accessories category to the competition which is chaired by Tamara Mellon. She commented, “I am proud to support emerging British talent and bring the winner of the Fashion Fringe at Covent Garden Accessories award under the helm of the creative team at Jimmy Choo.”

Breaking News: And the Winner of 2008 Fashion Fringe Is...

The Fashion Fringe competition has become a major part of British fashion. Discovering brands such as Basso & Brooke, Aminaka Wilmont and Erdem, it is now in it's fifth year headed up by Colin McDowell with guest judge Donatella Versace. Today in Covent Garden they held the final part of the competition in the midst of London Fashion Week.

The four finalists were Go By a Secret Path, LF Markey, Sarah Easom and William Tempest. But we can now reveal that the winner of £100,000 funding for their next collection is Eun Jeong Hong for her label 'Go by a Secret Path.'

There was plenty of celebrity support for the show from Alexa Chung, Emma Watson, Roland Mouret and Dita Von Teese. Donatella Versace presented a tearful Hong with her award.

Fab Flash: Stars are out for 2008 Fashion Fringe Launch

Fashion Fringe is a competition that celebrates upcoming fashion talent and is testament to London's dedication to young designers. It was launched five years ago by Colin McDowell MBE and global sports, entertainment and media company IMG. Previous winners include Basso & Brooke and Erdem.

This year the chair person will be Donatella Versace who attended last night's launch party at Claridges. She commented,

"I am very honoured to be joining the committee of Fashion Fringe as their Chairperson...This is an event which I have had great interest in since it began in 2004; London has an unbeatable reputation as the originator of unique fashion talent, and it is very exciting for me to be personally involved in discovering and supporting that talent through the Fashion Fringe initiative."

Budding young designers can apply for the competition via the Fashion Fringe website before 2nd May. 10 Semi-finalists will then be chosen and invited to London to begin a three-month programme of mentoring where industry experts will lend their vast knowledge.

The final show will take place in front of a panel of judges with the winner standing to get a reward of £100,000 and will show their collection at the following London Fashion Week in February.

London Fashion Week, Spring 2010: Eun Jeong

This time last year, Eun Jeong was crowned the winner of Fashion Fringe 2008 as her label Go By a Secret Path beat off competition from the likes of William Tempest to receive support from some of the industries biggest names. She received £100,000 as financial support towards her label and today she appeared on the main London catwalk.

The line was entirely cream, white and silver using soft, delicate fabrics like lace and silk. There was a dreamy feel to the collection which mainly consisted on mini dresses. Models walked down the catwalk showing off the soft folds and pleats of Jeong's designs often complete with trailing drapes. Overall, a delightfully feminine line.

Do Wear Your Fringe in Different Fashions?

It's no secret Britney Spears encountered a few stormy years along the way, but these days, she's looking better than ever. Last night, the singer took her boys to a Broadway show in NYC, sporting some heavier, parted-to-the-side bangs of the swooping variety. Of course, the great thing about midlength to longer fringe is that it can be easily swept away from the face to create a bang-free look. Even short bangs can be hidden with a little wax and/or pins. Gossip Girl actress Taylor Momsen created quite a stir as she showed off her new fringe at the Chris Benz show at New York Fashion Week, yesterday. The choppy bleach blonde style had a rock chick edge with rough layers and an almost mullet-esque feel to it. Taylor sensibly offset her cutting-edge hair do with a more glamorous gold satin dress that showed off her perfect, almost translucent skin.

With Victoria Beckham unveiling a new short, spiky crop at Fashion Week, and America's Next Top Model winner CariDee English recently getting a fringe cut, it certainly seems that one way to keep the papparrazi interested is to go for the chop.

As Kate Moss knew only too well when she sported this look earlier in the year – a long fringe that falls in your eyes gives you a mysterious, sultry appearance, making this a super-sexy, as well as on-trend look for Taylor. Thick fringe also draws attention to your nose and mouth, which is not so great if you have a large nose, but if like Taylor, yours is button cute then it works well. I love how Taylor has complemented the vanilla blonde shade in her hair with natural makeup and rose pink lip colour. Now we have something to gossip about.

Fab Finding Follow-Up: Parti Armani

I never tire of boutique parties. There's always amazing eye candy, yummy apps, and irresistible bubbly involved. A couple weeks ago, I attended an Armani party. The SF store had a special retrospective on gowns worn at awards shows and red carpet events - 'twas amazing.
