Penelope Prefers to Chat About Embraces Not Engagements

Penelope Cruz was busy in NYC yesterday, first making a stop by The Late Show to chat with David Letterman. She was out to discuss Broken Embraces before it opens in limited theaters this Friday, but Dave was a little more concerned with asking about her rumored engagement to Javier Bardem. She stood her ground and didn't reveal anything about her personal life - check out the video of her interview after the jump. Penelope wrapped things up with Dave and changed into an all-white outfit to attend a Cinema Society screening of her film. Her Nine costars Fergie and Daniel Day-Lewis were there to lend their support as the tight-knit cast continues to support each other's side projects.

Fergie's Legs Are Her Lucky Spot - Do You Have One?

After putting on 17 pounds for the movie Nine, Fergie learned it takes a lot longer to lose weight than it does to gain. Let's just say she's "2000-and-late" when it comes to learning this weighty reality (can you tell I've added the Black Eyed Peas' Boom Boom Pow to my workout mix?).

The extra poundage is nowhere to be seen on Fergie's skin-baring Allure cover shot, and the singer credits working out with her hot husband's trainer for getting her super-toned body back. In her interview with the magazine for its May issue, Fergie said,"If I don't do sit-ups, my stomach sticks out. Legs are easy for me. That's my lucky spot."

Well, it's a little reassuring to know that taut tummy doesn't come without hard work. Do you have one area that you can count on to look good without much effort, like Fergie and her stems?

American Idol Season Eight Goes Out With a Bang

Last night American Idol finalists Kris Allen and Adam Lambert took the stage for the last time, joined by former contestants and big stars alike. Nicole Richie enjoyed her dad's duet with Danny Gokey with Joel and her little sister Sophia, while Victoria and Romeo Beckham took seats in the audience as well. As promised, the night was full of fun surprises from Kara's surprise sing along (and smokin' hot bikini body - who knew?) to an awesome rendition of "We Are the Champions" featuring Queen.

Other favorites were Fergie getting down with the Black Eyed Peas and Allison singing "Time After Time" with Cyndi Lauper - what was your favorite moment? Of course, the biggest surprise of the night may have been Kris's big win, and no one looked more shocked than the new idol himself. Whether or not you agree with the results, both Adam and Kris proved their star power all season and we're sure that we'll be seeing and hearing a whole lot more from these talented boys in the years to come. Fergie's Still Talking, the Girl Can't Help it

After a quick stop by Fashion Week in NYC, Fergie was back in musical mode at the 4th Annual Peapod Foundation Benefit Concert in LA yesterday. She and John Legend got to practice their big Grammy duet, and Fergie also got to spend some time with her fellow Black Eyed Peas. The outgoing pop star always has plenty to say for herself, and in a recent interview she talked about everything from her man to Josh to her music to addressing those pregnancy rumors. Here are highlights:

On trying to maintain some privacy in her relationship with Josh: "It's hard, I have a really big mouth so I talk too much. We don't do red carpets together or photoshoots in our kitchen for magazines. But we go to movies and we're normal people so sometimes they catch you."
On comparing herself to Princess Di in Blender: "Oh gosh, that interview! I was talking major trash. I regret saying that. Sometimes I feel I'm so familiar with the person I'm talking with, and I have a big mouth. Please don't take it all too seriously. I apologise for putting myself and Princess Di in the same sentence. It was meant as a joke. It doesn't really translate in print. My grandma called me about that! It's my New Year's resolution not to treat interviews as therapy sessions or think I'm hanging out with my buddies."

On those pregnancy rumors: "Yeah, it's like the 15th time I've been pregnant. No. Not pregnant."
On the status of the Black Eyed Peas: "Taboo's getting married this year. Apl has an album coming out, Will's doing his thing, recording every day of his life. We're still together. I don't think we'll ever break up. As far as a new album, I can't say what comes next. I'm going to get into the studio and get inspired and crafty. I need some time to chill for a minute, go away and make some more music. I want to go home, be home and see my dogs, my man, my fiance."

Even if Fergie's mouth gets her in trouble from time to time, we always love hearing her make fun of herself. Plus, her realness is all just part of her charm, right?

Stars Rock Their Fashion at Radio City Music Hall

Justin, Beyonce, Rihanna, and Charlize are just a few of the A-list celebs that came out to Condé Nast's Fashion Rocks concert at Radio City Music Hall on Friday night. The annual event helps kicks off NY Fashion Week and this year it also helped support Stand Up To Cancer. Beyonce debuted her $5 million 18-karat engagement ring before taking the stage in dazzling gold to perform with JT. Rihanna rocked a feather headdress while showing off her long legs on stage and Mariah Carey brought Nick to watch her perform. We had the chance to interview many of the celebrities on the red carpet, including Chris Brown, which you can read after the jump. The show airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. on CBS but for now, check out Bella's and Fab's love it or hate it polls and tell us what you think of everyone's looks.

Fergie Is Still a Barracuda

Fergie squeezed into her tightest pair of liquid leggings to take the stage in NYC for the Today show this morning. She brought her usual intensity and sass, performing "Barracuda" just like at Idol Gives back - complete with the one-handed cartwheels. Between songs, Fergie talked to Matt Lauer about how she hasn't had made any wedding plans just yet, and what an honor it was to create her own take on the theme song for the Sex and the City movie. Reality Check: What's the Deal With Fergie's Vinegar Shots?

In a recent Glamour interview, Fergie Ferg revealed that one of her diet tricks is shots of organic apple cider, unfiltered. She said:

"Two tablespoons. For some reason I've noticed a difference on my stomach. I just trusted [my trainer] on this one. I'm sharing. I'm all about sharing secrets."

Does anyone else smell a magic bullet? Now, I have read that drinking apple cider vinegar (ACV) can help with many ailments, but never weight loss, so I decided to do a little investigation. To see what I found out just read more.

Basically what I found out is that there is very little evidence in the ACV for weight loss category, with little scientific backing whatsoever. WebMD does speculate that white vinegar (and perhaps other types) might help people feel full, but this was the results of a test on only 12 people. Remembering a quote I love from Dr. Andrew Weil about ACV, I decided to see what his expert opinion is on the whole matter. He said:

"There is absolutely no scientific evidence showing that apple cider vinegar can aid in weight loss or that it contains any magic ingredients that help you to shed pounds. Back in the 1970s when this diet took its place among the many weight loss fads and scams, proponents claimed that somehow a combination of apple cider, kelp, vitamin B-6, and lecithin fooled the body's metabolism into burning fat faster than it would normally.

These days the claims are far less elaborate - supposedly, all you need to do to lose weight is to take one, two, or three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar before every meal, starting with one teaspoon and then working up to two or three. I understand that taking more than three teaspoons isn't supposed to lead to better results. The only dieting advice you get with this 'diet' is to eat moderate portions at meals, avoid snacking, and wait for the apple cider vinegar to reduce your hunger and food cravings."

So there you have it. If you're looking to lose weight, I know it seems easy to say, "Fergie looks great and all she does is take two tablespoons of ACV," but I'm willing to bet my left arm that she works out and eats right and did not get that body from ACV. The formula for weight loss, once again, is healthy eating and daily exercise.

Fergie Clean and Sober (for the most part)

Fergie just can't stop talking about her meth addiction. She told Giant Magazine what her cracked out life was before she was part of The Black Eyed Peas. Here's more from the interview:

"It got to the point where I was doing meth day and night and had no more money," she admits. "I was hearing voices. I thought people were after me. I wasn't talking to any of my friends or family. I actually lost so much weight that my friends did an intervention. So I lied and said I was bulimic, just making stuff up."

Eventually with the aid of a hypnotherapist, Fergie quit crystal meth and hasn't looked back. She still indulges in alcohol ("I enjoy having a glass of wine here and there"), but she says her hardcore drug ways are a thing of the past. "I could have written a whole album about my struggle with drugs, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna feel comfortable with people knowing my dirty secrets."

It's a little too late for that, don't you think? But we're glad Fergie decided to skip the album documenting her days as a drug addict. We've already heard that True Hollywood Story too many times. Luckily, hers has a very happy ending. To read the full article and see more pics, just read more

Fergie Fights Meth

Fergie talks about the hardest break-up she ever went through for Time magazine this week. But the hardest boyfriend she had to break-up with wasn't a man, it was crystal meth. While promoting her new album, she's decided it's time to reveal that she used to have the addiction. Here's more:

"It was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with," Stacey "Fergie" Ferguson told Time magazine in an interview for the issue that hits newsstands Monday.

"It's the drug that's addicting," said Fergie, who has released her first solo album, "The Dutchess." "But it's why you start doing it in the first place that's interesting. A lot of it was being a child actor; I learned to suppress feelings."

When asked what she does now with those feelings, she said, "I have an hour and a half of performing every night and improvising. If there's a rafter, I can climb right on."
