Madonna, Lindsay, Jessica and More Get Filthy and Wise

Madonna took a break from her Sticky and Sweet tour and put on some crazy gun-heeled shoes to premiere her directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom in NYC last night. Lindsay Lohan must have enjoyed her Sunday night at the material girl's show, because she went right from her leggings launch to the red carpet while Samantha headed back to LA amid rumors of trouble in their relationship. Dolce and Gabbana cohosted the event leading to some decked out ladies like a gorgeous Jessica Alba out for the night without Cash and a glowing pregnant in purple Naomi Watts. Chace cleaned up nicely for the show instead of staying home to watch the new Gossip Girl on TV. While Madonna's husband has been busy promoting his own new movie, RocknRolla, he didn't make it to the premiere with his wife. It looks like a certain famous Yankee stayed away from Madonna's big night too.

Madonna Takes Her Filth To New York

Madonna's directorial debut Filth And Wisdom was screened in New York last night, and attracted a rather celeb-packed audience! Gossip Girl castmembers Chace Crawford, Ed Westwick and Taylor Momsen arrived looking smart for the event, and Ugly Betty stars America Ferrera, Vanessa Williams and Becki Newton also looked glam on the red carpet. Lindsay Lohan also posed for the cameras, sticking to the clothing colour of choice for the evening - black.

Naomi Watts and the movie's star Eugene Hutz brought a pop of purple to proceedings, and Ed wore a rather eye-catching tartan blazer that would be most befitting of Chuck! When I polled you, the majority of you said you'd like to see this movie, and I have to admit I'm rather curious too. I wonder what the audience thought last night?

First Glance: Filth And Wisdom - See It Or Skip It?

Here's the trailer for the upcoming Madonna-directed indie movie, Filth and Wisdom. I've been curious to see it as I watched the Queen of Pop herself directing the action outside a local pharmacy last year!

The trailer is narrated by the main character, a Ukrainian man named A.K. (Eugene Hutz, from Gogol Bordello), who moonlights as a cross-dressing dominatrix to finance his rock star aspirations. The movie revolves around A.K. and his two female flatmates: "Holly (Holly Weston), a ballet dancer who works as a stripper... at a local club and Juliette (Vicky McClure), a pharmacy assistant who dreams of going to Africa to help starving children."

I'm not sure whether I'm interested enough to go see the full movie when it comes out, but what do you think? Will you see it, or skip it?

Movie Preview: Madonna's Filth and Wisdom

So, Madonna directed an indie movie, Filth and Wisdom ("they are two sides of the same coin"). The trailer is narrated by the main character, a Ukrainian man named A.K. (Eugene Hutz, frontman of gypsy punk band Gogol Bordello), who "finances his dreams of rock glory by moonlighting as a cross-dressing dominatrix." The movie follows A.K. and his two female flatmates: "Holly (Holly Weston), a ballet dancer who works as a stripper and pole dancer at a local club and Juliette (Vicky McClure), a pharmacy assistant who dreams of going to Africa to help starving children."

All I know is that the music is by Gogol Bordello, so that aspect is probably great.

Maybe the characters seem more likable in the actual movie. But then again, I'm not totally sure I'm interested enough to go see the full movie when it comes out Oct. 17. What do you think? You can check out the trailer if you read more.

Madonna's Light on the Filth, Heavy on the Wisdom

In her second black dress of the day, Madonna and the stars of her directorial debut Filth and Wisdom attended their premiere last night in Berlin along with festival staple Diane Kruger. The movie focuses on three characters striving for stardom, which apparently hit close to home for Madonna. She said, "If I look back to the beginning of my career, I can recall those moments of struggle like it was yesterday." We all know Madonna's not struggling for success anymore (uh, to put it lightly). The movie's reviews, however, are a different story.

Madonna Shares Her Filth and Wisdom

Madonna slipped into a sexy see-through number to show off her latest project at the Berlin Film Festival in Germany today. Her film Filth and Wisdom marks the directorial debut she's been working on for the last year, and she was joined by her cast at a photocall and press conference for the film. The movie sounds pretty controversial and racy, but M was just happy to finally get her feet wet as a director. She said,

"I have always admired the art of filmmaking and the ability to tell a good story. After almost three decades of being in front of a camera, I decided to put my money where my mouth is. Filth and Wisdom was essentially my way of putting myself through film school. When the film was finished, I realised that they were all aspects of me, so the whole experience was both artistic and therapeutic."

Madonna has tried to see if her talents extend to another realm before, but we'd prefer to see the superstar in front of the camera rather than behind it.
