Before an expectant working mama checks out to welcome another baby to the world, she usually has a good idea of how much time it will be before she settles back into her desk. In some countries, mothers take the entire first year of their babe's life to stay at home and get to know them. In the States, it's a bit different. While some women have the luxury of taking months off to recuperate from their life welcoming event, others have to jump right back into the game leaving little time for bonding and resting up. While finances, benefits, and childcare are usually the decision makers, many mums are eager to get back to the job for the adult companionship it provides.

So tell mommy, did you take full advantage of your maternity leave?

Group Therapy: Interview Help After Being Fired

My supervisor recently confronted me about an email that circulated the office. It was written by one of our clients complaining about this supervisor. When I denied distributing it, I was told that this subject would be dropped if I would give the name of the person who did circulate the note. I refused. After work, I spoke to the coworker who passed around the email and told her I had been accused. The next day, she admitted to her wrong doing but a few hours later, I was fired for insubordination since I refused to rat out my coworker. The guilty party of course still has her job. I'm over being angry, now I'm just trying to pickup my life and get a new job. One of the doctors from the office called to see how I'm doing and told me to put her down as a reference since I was such a great asset to the company. As great as this was to hear, it doesn't help my nerves. How do I face the interview question about being fired? My stomach is just in knots thinking about it!

Group Therapy: Pregnant and Job Hunting - Do I Tell?

I recently got laid off and am happy to report that I've had many job interviews over the last several weeks. I've already received one offer and hope that more are on their way. The problem I'm facing is that I've just discovered that I am five weeks pregnant. This is not only significantly changing the kind of job I'm considering taking, but I am very unsure about how to proceed. Upon receiving an offer, do I accept and then tell them that I am expecting, accept and wait several weeks until I'm further along to tell them, or tell them prior to accepting the position? What is the proper protocol here?

Ask Savvy: I'm Bored With My Job After Only Three Months

Dear Savvy,

I'm lucky enough to have found a job after being laid off from my old one, and I've been working at my new company for about three months. I really like the people and the place, but I'm already bored with the job itself! I obviously don't want to look for another job after being unemployed for months and the company is in the industry where I see my career growing. But I'm afraid that I'll go crazy with boredom if I'm stuck with the work I'm currently doing. Any advice?

Savvy says: Three months is a pretty short honeymoon period with a position, but I don't think you're doomed to days full of dull duties. See my tips for overcoming this hump when you read more.

Make a promise to yourself that you'll really give this job a chance before looking for a new one. Then, write down exactly why you think you're bored with the job. Is it the type of work you're doing, that you're not busy enough, the predictability of your days, or a combination of these? Once you've targeted the problem, you can begin working on a solution.

While you won't be able to shake the responsibilities that come with your job description any time soon, you can always ask your boss to include you on different projects and take it upon yourself to find new ways to complete everyday tasks. You're still new at the job, so if you don't have enough on your plate it could be that your boss didn't want to overwhelm you from the start. It's up to you to let her know you're ready to handle more.

You may never have been in love with your job if you've only been there for a few short months, but some of my tips on how to fall in love with your job again could still apply. Keep chugging along with your career in mind, and stay alert for any opportunities that open up within the company and might be a better fit for you.
