If you've so much as glanced at the news lately you'd know the economy has been going through rocky times. Some people are seeking financial advice from their church to hold their hands through the tumultuous market ride, and I just learned that thousands of churches around the world have added teaching the gospel of money to their repertoire.
Participants in such church groups say that the bible is packed with information on handling finances and for some it has helped lift the "spiritual burden" of being in debt.

Yesterday, I shared the sad news that Luella had lost it's license and financial backer. The British fashion house is loved by celebrities and mere mortals alike with Bartley scooping Designer of the Year in 2008. Luella is now seeking a new financial backer and looking to the future.

When it comes in the form of credit cards, plastic is dramatic. There are always consumers in the news discussing how they've been mistreated by a credit card carrier, and there seems to be an endless stream of hidden policies that rear their harmful heads when customers least expect it.
Take the case of Paul Smith (not of kitschy designing fame), a San Diego resident who was alarmed when his credit card limit was recently reduced from $7,000 to $1,400.

The Federal Reserve's latest survey of businesses around the country shows the US recession might be over. The recovery is projected to be a slow one and the economy is still fragile, but we can file this piece of news in the hopeful column. Recession or not, we should continue to follow the many lessons from these times of economic uncertainty to keep our financial houses in order — in good times and bad.

We've heard about the he-cession and how the economic downturn has affected men's mental health perhaps even more than it has women's.
One writer goes further and says that all of this bad news for men is just paving the way for the death of macho as we know it. Macho arrogance got us into a lot of this global financial mess, he reasons, and its exit stage left will get us out of it.

Talk about devotion. Bill and Marie DeCaro (ages 100 and 99) have been married for eight decades, making them the world's second longest-married couple. They were married in 1929 and endured the hardship of The Great Depression when Bill lost all of his money because of a shuttered bank.
