I love the look of the Sundance Catalog's Midcentury Studio Stool ($245). The varnished raw steel has an understated, industrial look that seems as fitting for a bistro or bar counter as a kitchen or home office. At 27 inches tall and 17 inches wide, they're also a great size — big enough but not too hefty.

It was high fives all around as Kate Hudson and her dad Kurt Russell cheered on the Yankees during their game against the Angels last night in LA. Kate's smiles weren't enough to propel the team to victory this time, but she'll have another chance to watch A-Rod on the field tonight. When she isn't chilling in the dugout, Kate's making time for fitness in California — she hit the Pilates studio over the weekend, showing off her fine form and belly chain after class as she gets in tip-top shape to promote Nine this Winter.

Rihanna showed off a new hairstyle yesterday, which is quite a feat considering her ever-changing hair, as she headed into an NYC recording studio. She's putting the finishing touches on her new album, which apparently will be out on Nov. 23.

Last January when asked if you would want to join Gwyneth's gym she was planning to open with her trainer Tracy Anderson, most of you were not swayed by the celebrity affiliation.
Well, the inner workings of the gym have been revealed, and for starters it is not a gym — it's a studio. Let's start with the cost of joining the gym studio.

Britney Spears is on a break from the rigorous performance schedule of her Circus tour, but that isn't stopping her from keeping her dance moves fresh. She was decked out in short shorts and high socks yesterday for a visit to a studio in LA. Hopefully that means a music video for her newly-released single, "3," which you guys are loving.

If you are getting bored using the same old Pilates DVD over and over, you should check out classes at a studio near year. It seems like Pilates studios are popping up in neighborhoods at the same rate as Starbucks coffee shops. Chances are high there is a studio close to either where you work or live.

Hi Fit,
I have been practicing yoga on my own for years, and I love it all . . .

If you're one of those people who has a tough time sticking to a regular workout routine, here is some good advice: do all your workouts in the same place. Although variety can prevent boredom, it won't help if variety makes you skip out on workouts because you can't keep track of where and when you're sweating it out each week. So just to get into the routine, exercise in one designated place, whether it's the gym, your local park, your spare bedroom, or a yoga studio.

We've all been there: you waltz into a new group glass at the gym only to discover that the yoga is far beyond your reach or the dance moves are better suited to fly girls than fitness buffs. Getting in over your head can not only be embarrassing, but it can also lead to injuries.
So before you wander into a class based on a friend's recommendation or a cool-sounding description, stop by the week prior and peek into the studio.
