What to Expect on the High Street Next Spring

Attending catwalk shows and reporting back is always exciting, but when you see the High Street interpretations it gives you an idea of how the trends will really manifest. Yesterday, Arcadia held their Spring press day which presented the items due to hit store from January 2010. Although I can't show you any images just yet (patience is a virtue!) I wanted to tell you a bit about what to expect.

First up, I checked out Miss Selfridge which was very girly. It was divided in to two key trends; neutrals and '90s florals. There were nude shades covered in sequins for flapper style dresses with subtle jacquard floral prints and delicate feminine fabrics. These were contasted against bright, floral prints, grungey designs and '90s boho.

Next up was Topshop, which is always the most trend driven of the High Street stores. They split the Spring collection in to four key themes; body armour, la latina, meadow and techno traveller. Body armour was my favourite part with sportswear inspired designs and '90s column maxi dresses. La latina is the high Summer collection with bright fun prints, whilst meadow is a bit more subdued with soft floral prints. Finally, techno traveller will appeal to festival fans as pieces were bright, cheerful with embellishment and fringing.

Israeli model Bar Refaeli looks adorable in this flapper-style peach and silver dress. I'm surprised to see her hair styled in waves, as opposed to smooth and straight like usual. I happen to like her with a bit of volume and oomph to her hair - how about you?

Which Marchesa Was Most Fab at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala?

Last week at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala, Kerry Washington and Georgina Chapman wore pretty, poufy frocks from Georgina's coveted Marchesa line. Both dresses were white, but notice how the two styles varied in texture. Kerry's tulle embellishment and streamlined shape gave a more architectural appeal, while Georgina's feathered creation emoted flirty, flapper energy. Both beauties accessorized with sleek black clutches and matching pumps. This one's a toughie: do you prefer the designer or the celebrity?

Designer Spotlight: Annie Havlicek

Finding hidden talent is my mission in life - I love sharing undiscovered treasures with you. Annie Havlicek, for example, is a prodigy in the making. After studying at the prestigious Parsons School of Design, the designer took on a bunch of internships at various powerhouses, such as Michael Kors, before embarking on her own line. For Fall, Annie showed off her love for the vintage '20s with a selection of flapper-inspired dresses, silky skirts, pleated tops, and tailored wool coats. It's all very soft yet sexy, and I adore her sharp eye for detail. All of a sudden, I feel like heading to the local speakeasy . . .

Wearing a Matte Red Like Diane Is Easier Than You'd Think

With her loosely pulled-back hairstyle, matte red lips, and shimmery black dress, Diane Kruger looks as if she stepped right out of a 1920s speakeasy. In actuality, she was stepping out for a screening of Inglourious Basterds in New York last night.

Diane's flapper-girl style has some modern-day touches, with gold eye accents and a hint of glimmery highlighter on the cheeks and forehead. Note the contrast between the warm matte lipstick and sparkling accents. Whether you choose a warm tone or a cool one, check out some matte red lip products below for inspiration. Blair Stubbe's outfit is pure velvety goodness. It's completely original, not to mention slightly flapper chic. I especially like that she wore black leggings underneath the dress for a more casual approach. She knows her stuff, clearly.

The Met's Costume Institute Gala: Gisele Bundchen

Leave it to leggy Gisele to bring sexy to the Met stage. Check out the Super sporting a shimmery sequined blue mini by Versace and matching peep-toe booties. The detailed bodice gives her dress structure while a flapper-inspired hem creates flirty movement. Dangly earrings, black clutch, hot hubbie, and a bodacious wavy 'do complete her sizzling ensemble. Thoughts?

Rachel Bilson in Nude Fringe: Love It or Hate It?

Everything Rachel is wearing during her latest LA excursion is entirely on trend: the color nude, the heather gray tights, sky-high Louboutins, Ray-Bans. Her fringed Phillip Lim dress exudes a modern flapper look and the gray tights feed into the softness. The black Loubs, Wayfarers, and black wallet, on the other hand, add a pinch of severity. What I want to know is: Do all these current pieces come together flawlessly for you or not?

Lauren Conrad Stays Stylish Even in the 1920s

Lauren Conrad looked beautiful dressed up as a glamorous flapper with her pink feather and matching boa at the Pur Jeans Halloween Party at STK in Hollywood on Friday night. Lo Bosworth showed up as Little Red Riding Hood and JC Chasez played astronaut. LC wasn't the only flapper that night, Kim Kardashian showed off yet another costume with her NFL boyfriend Reggie Bush. Looks like a blast was had by all before Lauren had to head to Atlanta for another campus visit on Saturday.
