When Summer rolls around, we always make it to the fair so my girls can ride the ferris wheel, win a stuffed animal, and of course, eat some cotton candy. Food at the fair is not the healthiest, but in case you were wondering just how unhealthy, check out this nutritional breakdown.

When you're on the road, sometimes the occasional stop at a fast-food drive-thru can't be avoided. If you're not into ordering a hamburger and French fries because of the saturated fat and high calories, then chicken could be your choice for a lean protein. Choose your chicken wisely, though; not all your choices are necessarily lean.

What is it about french fries that makes us crave them so? Is it the saltiness? The crispy outside and soft, warm inside?

In the Summer months, I crave cool, crispy raw salad greens, but when cooler temps roll in, I'm all about cooked greens. I often sauté them in a little olive oil with garlic, and they're flavorful, low in calories, and full of vitamins and nutrients. If you've ever wondered just how nutritious they are, I made a little chart so you can find out.

Being a curious creature, I like to compare things. Recently, I decided to focus on cooking oil. I tend to use canola and olive oil when cooking since they're healthy oils, but as I peruse the shelves of oils at the grocery store, there are so many more to choose from.

Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and Snickers were my favorites when it came to Halloween as a kid. After a night of trick-or-treating, I loved to sprawl my goods on the kitchen table and count how many I got of each. Now I would never eat as much candy as I could fit in a pillowcase, since many of them are high in calories and contain trans fat, but I still like to enjoy a couple pieces this time of year.
