My little one last night asked me to make Brussels sprouts and then proceeded to eat three helpings. This photo is from her early days as a veggie lover. And yes, after the photo was taken we had the "don't take such big bites of your food, you could choke" conversation.

Rihanna Wants Great Food and Great Sex For Christmas!

Following her stay in London this week, Rihanna arrived at LAX Airport yesterday in a cute and comfy outfit. She is the guest editor of MSN's music channel on Monday, and she's spoken with them about her plans for holiday season. When asked what she wants for Christmas, she replied: "some great food and some great sex"! Amy Looks Like She's Added Fuller Lips and Freckles

Hot on the heels of her recent breast augmentation, Amy Winehouse showed off what appears to be a fuller pout as she left a clinic in London yesterday. BellaUK wants to know: what do you think of her freckles and plump pout? She looks happy to flaunt her new assets and we know her dad Mitch thinks her new boobs are great. Mitch has revealed that Amy loves to play games like Pictionary and Boggle, and he's also spoken on his new series for Living about Amy's shock at Rachel Adedeji's exit from The X Factor last weekend, saying:

"Amy and I and the family were watching X Factor and when Rachel got knocked out – we thought it was a complete disaster. We were having a lovely dinner – I was having a chicken vindaloo and Amy was having a chicken Korma and we almost choked – almost put us right off our food. Almost but not quite…"

Kate Hudson Gets Candid About Men and Botox in Elle

Kate Hudson is looking super fit and toned as she stars on the front cover of December's issue of Elle magazine! She talked to them exclusively about a range of subjects from her upbringing, to her rumoured engagement and her thoughts on cosmetic surgery. Here's some extracts from her interview:

On boys: "I sometimes feel like when you’re talking to boys, they just hear certain keywords. But if you had a bubble above their head, they’d be thinking about game scores, masturbation and food... I love boys, but I believe they’re really simple. Every guy likes to say that they’re complicated, but they’re so easy to figure out. What did that Dr Laura say? Something like, 'All men want is sex and for you to make them a sandwich.' I thought that was really funny – and not entirely untrue."
On her rumoured engagement to Alex Rodriguez: "Did you know that it was this one [ring], on my right hand? I hear about this and I’m like, 'Why would I even respond? What would I say if you’re going to lie about something ridiculous?' And if you really did your job, you’d look at the pictures taken that day and realise it was on my right hand."
On cosmetic surgery: "I was in a press conference once, and someone says, 'So, I can tell you’ve never had Botox!' Is that a compliment? Or are you trying to say I’m starting to get wrinkles? I literally was like, 'What?' Everyone’s so obsessed with who gets Botox, but it’s great! Are you kidding? The fact that women can avoid going under the knife, and get a little Botox treat and not have to worry about it? I’m glad it’s there for when it’s time."

On her upbringing: "I grew up in a family where, if you felt any kind of suffering or sadness, if you didn’t go there and really understand it and delve into it, you wouldn’t understand what it was like to be really joyful."
On the joys of being a girl: "I love being a girl. I love clothes and I love the rituals of facials and body treatments, all the stuff girls get, make-up, scarves, hats... And we’re like a tribe. That’s just our nature. You get a group of women together and, somehow, we keep it together. I love that we can be that powerful, as a group. Men, you know, it’s survival of the fittest."

Smarter Eats: Use Chalkboard Labels on Jars

Take a peek into my kitchen cabinet for a healthy eating tip. If you can't tell from the picture those are jars with chalkboard labels. I've been using them for almost a year now and for two good reasons: health and money.

I love nuts but find that it can be easy to eat too many at one sitting. I use the chalkboard labels to remind myself of the nutritional breakdown of the stored nut and its serving size. For instance, on my almond jar I've written 20 almonds equal 180 calories, 14g fat, 7g protein, and 6g carbs. This method has been a really great way to keep me from overindulging.

Having these jars is also an incentive to buy from the bulk aisle. Most food, especially organic, is cheaper when purchased in bulk. Plus buying in bulk cuts down on wasteful packaging, and I don't confuse things that look alike. The labels create an easy way to remember cooking ratios - if I'm storing a whole grain or beans, I write the name of the grain and the ratio of the grain to how much liquid it needs to cook.

You can either buy chalkboard jars for cheap or make your own using chalkboard paint. As an alternative you can use paper or sticky labels but using the chalkboard method helps cuts down on waste.

Is Taking Pictures of Your Food a Realistic Diet Plan?

A new study has been floating around the health airways that claims taking pictures of everything you eat can aid in weight loss. I can't but help but think, "That's great, but who can realistically do that?" I guess with all the cell phone cameras out there these days it's not too much of a burden, but I am never one to promote diet ideas that are not something we can easily adapt into our lifestyles.

A food journal uses the same principals, recording evidence of meals hold us accountable, but does not require us to photograph our food. I'm sticking with my picture-free journals for now, but what do you think? Do you think that taking pictures of your food would be a realistic way for you to lose weight?

Are You On the Twilight Diet?

Have you heard about the Twilight diet? At first I thought it was a term Twilighters - aka die-hard Twilight fans - used to describe their voracious appetites for all things Edward and Bella - books, movies, pictures, life-size Robert Pattinson cutouts - but it's actually related to food. Twilight vernacular is everywhere, even in the world of health and fitness.

I've written a little about Taylor Lautner's quest to bulk up for New Moon. In order to be a believable Jacob the werewolf, the young star was in the gym every day for two hours to put on the needed 30 pounds of muscle. "I had to eat every two hours," says Lautner. "At one point, my trainer said, 'Put anything in your mouth. Go to McDonalds get the biggest shake possible. I just need to get calories in you.' Because my body fat at the time was only, like, 7.5 percent"

Lautner's fitness routine is what the urban dictionary calls the Twilight diet:

Person A: Yo man, I wanna get ripped.
Person B: Yeah man, follow the Twilight diet!

I wonder what Michael Phelps and Venus Williams would think if they knew they were on the Twilight diet while training, and didn't even know it?

I was curious if the Twilight diet was actually being followed, and not only did I find out that it is, I also discovered that there is another diet with the same name - and it seemed to be at odds with the already mentioned Twilight diet! What's a fan to do?

In the first movie we are introduced to the Cullens, a family of vampires who resist their natural desire to feed on humans. This desire becomes even more exasperated when Edward Cullen falls in love with Bella, a human. Some Twilighters are using this narrative as a model of self-control in their own lives. If Edward and the rest of the Cullens can resist eating humans then they, the fans, can resist eating chocolate cake.

There are tons of posts on Twilight boards and blogs affirming that Twilight has been a catalyst for lifestyle changes. Apparently fans are so busy consuming everything Twilight, they have less time to eat. On top of this they are also adopting the Cullen's method of self-control. This combo has led to some serious weight loss - some fans have lost six pounds, while others claim 25.

I admit that the Twilight diet is an easy target, but you can also look at it as inspiration coming in many different forms. For some it's a vampire series that spawns a lifestyle change. Odd? Perhaps. But it's great to see people making choices for the better, whatever the reason.
