Apparently Jessica and Cash didn't have time to take advantage of being in Paris after Eva and Tony's wedding, because the two were at the airport on their way out yesterday morning. And don't they just look thrilled as usual (though I'm loving her coat)? Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer may have been a bit overshadowed by the other Summer blockbusters, but the Teen Choice Awards committee took notice and nominated Jessica for 3 awards: Hissy Fit, Female Hottie, Action Adventure Actress. The show isn't until the end of August, but you can vote here. Mark my words, teens love Jessica, but she may have to lose to Seacrest in the Hissy Fit category.

We Meet the Female Stars of Mamma Mia!

This week I had the amazing opportunity to meet the stars of Mamma Mia! just before they walked the blue carpet at the big world premiere. Here's an excerpt of the Q+A with the women of the film: Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski and Amanda Seyfried. In the lead up to the movie's release on 10th July, I'll also bring you the lowdown on what Colin Firth, Pierce Brosnan, Dominic Cooper and Stellan Skarsgård had to say about their experiences on set.

To set the scene, the three actresses all dressed in black: Meryl accessorised with a long necklace, natural makeup and her hair up; Christine donned a double string of pearls, perfect hair and red lipstick; and Amanda's huge eyes peeped out from her long straight hair. They laughed a lot and seemed to genuinely like each other.

Meryl and Christine, Julie Walters isn't here, but the three of you have a fantastic rapport on screen. Did you have to work at that?

MS - I had to work so hard [laughs]. You have no idea. [Julie]’s so divine and she’s so warm and she’s very wicked about everyone. So we had lots of fun. The outtakes – I hope they never appear.
CB - Friday night was the one night we could go out and have a little English martini together.
MS - [singing] Friday night and the lights are low...
CB - It was all research. We just kept saying:
MS and CB in stereo - “It’s research, darling!”
CB - It was so immediate and so spontaneous, the three of us liking each other and wanting it to look like fun and I remember we said to each other: “You know this is going to really work if it really looks like we’re having fun every single take”. And so I’m happy that we’re getting that feedback that it looks that way, because that’s what it was.

Amanda, feeding off the more senior members of the cast must have been fun.

AS - You know what, sometimes I felt like I was trying to come on set and be serious because I’d have all these completely seasoned talented actors and I’m coming on so intimidated. But really I felt like I was the serious adult and everyone was without concern having the time of their lives. Eventually I finally came to a relaxed place and I was able to join in on the fun, but at the beginning I was like [puts on eager voice] “I want to have fun too”, but really I was just so nervous!

Meryl, you sent a well done letter to the cast when you saw the Broadway show.

MS - I took my 10-year-old and her birthday party and it was right after it had opened and it was right after September 11th and everybody was feeling really low and I thought what am I going to do with all these kids? I saw an ad in the New York Times and it said “New British musical“ and something like “buoyant fun” and I thought “Boy I’m there”. I took the kids and we all just were dancing in the aisles and down the street, bought the cast album and sang the songs for two years and that’s why I wrote the note to the cast to say basically thank you for the music and thank you for the injection of joy which was so needful at that moment.

Are you nervous about your children's reaction?

MS - Oh I’m not nervous any more, I was, but then I showed them all the stills and they’ve already had their mortification moment about me in the white spandex [laughs]. We have to get over this! I can’t wait for them to see it, it’s like we’ve done it for our daughters, right Christine?
CB - Yeah, really.
MS - And my son will be, I don’t know, appalled. But I think he’ll actually like it, because he’s a musician and he’ll get a kick out of it, he appreciates the musicality.

The three of you come from different film backgrounds, so what was it like working your characters together?

AS - I just feel that the more you laugh with someone off camera, the easier it is just to make something work. I kind of just let things happen. When you’re in the zone with someone ... you’re sharing something... We just all laughed more than I have ever experienced with anybody, with a whole group of people.
MS - It’s true. People who are in plays get to have this experience. In most movies people fly in and do their bit then they fly out... This one, because we were incarcerated in that barn and trying to learn “Voulez-Vous” for three weeks before shooting started, all we thought about was “Voulez-Vous”. I didn’t have time to worry about anything else. And Colin Firth was so worried about it. Stellan Skarsgård was beside himself. Pierce was drenched in sweat every day. But we all bonded over that, I mean didn’t we?
AS - We were all humiliated!
MS - We were a company and we lived together. I couldn’t get rid of these people!
CB - There was a summer camp quality to this, there definitely was. Let’s put on a show for camp and then we get to go on the islands.
MS - Definitely, as they say, they saved the best part 'til the end. We went to Greece and they put us in the most beautiful places in the Northern Aegean.

It was a pleasure to listen to these actresses talking about their experiences shooting this film, and their enjoyment really came across. Mark Simmons Monotonously Packs His Knives and Goes

On the last episode of Top Chef, we said farewell to Mark Simmons. All of his midnight musical serenades and bubble bath hi-jinks couldn't convince the judges to keep him there.

Yesterday I was lucky enough to engage in a funny conversation in which Mark told me what he's been up to and what he thought of the whole process. He's not bitter, but he's not rooting for anyone, only himself. To find out what he had to say, read more.

YumSugar: How'd you end up on Top Chef?
Mark Simmons: I'd just seen this really big line of people about eight months ago and I thought - for sh*ts and giggles - that I'd go stand at the end of it.

YS: Really? You didn't know what it was for?
MS: Well I figured out it was for Top Chef. There were some really crazy guys there. Guys drinking vodka straight out of the bottle. I was thinking to myself there's no way I could compete against these guys. But then I ended up on the show.

YS: Was the experience what you were expecting?
MS: Yeah, I knew it was going to be an experience of a lifetime. It was going to be a great learning event, a very difficult situation where I'd be living with 16 other cooks in a small house.

YS: What was it like living with all those other people?
MS: Not so easy, and I don't think they appreciated me playing the didgeridoo at twelve o'clock at night. But it was fun, like me and Spike would often have a bubble bath together on Sundays after the challenges.

YS: Are you keeping in touch with any of the other chefs?
MS: Yeah, you know there are quite a few of us in New York. Me, Andy, Spike, Dale, we go into each other's restaurants to catch up and for a cheap-meal [laughs].

YS: Did you think you should have been sent home when you were?
MS: I think it could've been any of us three. In one way or another our dishes were flawed. I was surprised I was going home. I didn't have a speech prepared. I was totally surprised by the [goes into a pretty funny Padma impersonation] "Pack your knives and go" of her monotone voice that she does [laughs].

YS: What was going through your head during judge's panel?
MS: To begin with, when I said to Tom, "You don't like me," it was just light-hearted banter. It took the edge off of it for me. It was an innocent joke that I enjoyed. . . What was going through my head? Well I was just trying to decipher what the challenge was. In my mind the challenge was to create a meal for $10 from Whole Foods. Other competitors went and bought $10 worth of food and then used another $10 worth from the pantry.

YS: Did they ever say you couldn't use it?
MS: Well it was a point to me. The challenge was create a meal for 10 bucks. You shouldn't have to rely on other ingredients.

YS: Did you end up tasting other dishes?
MS: No, and I'm glad I did not. I didn't get to try them, there wasn't a lot there. I literally had a carrot, some squash and I couldn't afford to give anyone any. I mean, Tom ate a lot of mine, straight from the pot even. And ironically, he was double-dipping his spoon. I think that's where some of the banter came from.

And you know, Andrew's did look really good and refined. I was surprised that he didn't win.

YS: So who are you rooting for now?
MS: Myself.

YS: Now that you're out of it, who are you rooting for?
MS: Now that I'm out, I'm not rooting for anyone. I'll continue to root for myself. But I think Dale is very strong at the quickfire challenges, and Blaise is very methodical, and Antonia is a strong contender too.

YS: You said it was just banter, but at the end, Tom reassures you that he doesn't feel that way. Do you think he took you seriously?
MS: I'm surprised he brought it back up. My approach to humor throughout the entire time was very deadpan. I'm usually a lot drier, so I was surprised he thought I was serious.

YS: What's it been like watching yourself on TV?
MS: There are a couple of episodes I had to watch with one-eye closed. Like, oh sh*t, not fun. It was really surreal. Watching myself, this is who I am in real life. I'm glad I was portrayed as who I am.

YS: So what's next for you?
MS: I'm back in New York and at Public. They're looking to open another space down the way and I hope to be involved with that. But actually, I just got married on Friday.

YS: Congratulations!
MS: Thanks. So yeah, I'll be on honeymoon in a couple of days. So I won't be working, I'll be in the Greek Islands.

YS: Sounds fantastic, why'd you choose there?
MS: I travel a lot, and so does my wife, and it's some place neither of us have been. It just sounds truly wonderful and romantic.

Now on to the Vegas rumors. K-Fed had his party Friday night at Pure and even though Britney was reportedly going to support her man, she was no where to be seen. Turns out they had a huge fight at dinner just prior to Kevin's big event and she took off. Luxe Life reports:

A weeping Britney Spears fled from hubby Kevin Federline in full view of diners in the Nero's restaurant at Caesars Palace last night, Friday, April 21. It was just moments before he was due to walk the red carpet with her to debut his new CD appropriately titled Playing With Fire at the nearby Pure nightclub.

"It was a full blown war of words that got louder and more heated as the dinner went on" said one eyewitness. "It was a very bad night for Britney."

Another eyewitness says, "It really was huge fight."

Finally shaking and in tears, Britney fled the restaurant and raced up to her suite alone -- boycotting his performance at the nightclub.

A wall of silence was lowered around Britney Spears and Kevin Federline last night as the distraught couple hammers out their differences and try to reconcile or end their brief and muddled marriage. Neither has been seen here since their late Friday night breakup. The couple got into an escalating feud over dinner. One eyewitness told me, â€œThis was a bad night for Britney. It was a full blown war of words that got louder and more heated as the dinner went on.â€?

A business friend of Kevinâ€™s told me, â€œShe wanted to be with him on his big night, and despite all the help sheâ€™s given him, he wanted to go solo so he had all the spotlight. That discussion spells disaster. He just didnâ€™t want her to become the focus of the night -- and that would be inevitable if they were together. He wanted it all to himself for once.â€?

Another eyewitness added, â€œIt got so ugly that she stood up shaking and in tears and literally ran out of the restaurant crying and up to their suite. Moments later he went onto the red carpet for photographers and TV crews as if nothing had happened. But this was an ugly one.

â€œThe business associate added, â€œFifteen minutes, later Britney called to the club to see if she could come down and was told she wasnâ€™t wanted there. Her people told the club managers that she was very upset and decided to go to bed. But we had to tell everybody she wasnâ€™t feeling well.â€?

Four-thousand club-goers were oblivious to the dramatic behind the scenes bust-up as Paris Hiltonâ€™s mom, Kathy, introduced the former back-up dancer to the fans. With 30 of his family and friends in his entourage, Kevin had DJ Logan spin his songs â€œAmericaâ€™s Most Hatedâ€? and â€œRockstarâ€? (his new single) -- in a rap-fest that had the packed room buzzing.

As if heâ€™d forgotten he had a sobbing, distressed bride upstairs, he yelled into the microphone, â€œWeâ€™re all hitting the craps tables after this. Las Vegas is my home away from home. I love it here. I love the drinks. I love the club. I love the ladies. Lets get hyped, Vegas!â€?

He was determined to have a wild time drinking Jack Daniels and Coke throughout the night until the lights were turned back on. He tore off his jacket and peach-collared shirt after midnight and stripped down to his signature white-ribbed â€œwife-beaterâ€? tank top with a white LA Raiders hat. Then he danced up his own storm on Pureâ€™s white VIP beds and asked the DJ to play TIâ€™s â€œBring â€˜Em Out.â€? Also in the VIP section with proud Paris parents Kathy and Rick Hilton were Houston Rockets basketball star Tracy McGrady, and Muhammad Aliâ€™s daughter Tatyana -- not together!

â€œWe just didnâ€™t know what was going to happen next,â€? said one guest. â€œThen Kevin spotted rapper YaBoy and they suddenly did an unexpected performance together. It was 3AM with everybody going home before he called it quits. Who knows if they can hold their marriage together after a night like this.â€?

The couple has had an on-and-off rocky relationship since getting married and Vegas has been the scene of many of their stormy splits. Even friends have predicted that despite their year-old son Sean, the marriage is eventually doomed for disaster.

Only time will tell, and only in Vegas.

North Weathers the Big Storm

We had one crazy storm here in San Francisco last Friday – between the wind and the rain, it was certainly enough to keep my pup inside and not on his normal excursions at Golden Gate Park. While I was at the office, North spent the afternoon in his crate. When originally choosing a space for North's crate, I stuck with standard recommendations that it be in a "people area" (so he doesn't feel banished or punished) while also keeping it at a distance from drafts and heat sources. However, living in San Francisco, I took that one step further and also considered earthquakes. I ended up placing his crate in my dining room under a solid wood table and against the wall. It's away from windows, falling objects, and I felt the table might provide an additional layer of protection. So while the storm was doing quite a bit of damage outside, learn about the damage going on inside my apartment when you read more.

I return home from work on Friday wanting nothing more than to stay in and watch bad movies on TV. I walk over to North's crate and notice that he is not sleeping inside (as usual) but instead sitting in the far corner of the crate staring at me. I let him out and he takes about two steps, sits, and stares at me some more. It was fairly chilly in my apartment at this time so I pick up the pup thinking he's just cold (and that the heater went out), and head into the living room to check out the listings. I enter a freeeezing cold living room – through a door I always leave open– flip on the light, and notice a curtain blowing straight out from the window. Now, perhaps this was due to the amount of cold medicine I was on, but it takes me about 10 seconds to process that curtains don't blow on closed windows and then the mess registers.

At some point during the storm, the wind blew out one of my windows leaving glass and water all over my TV, couch, side table, and floor. The lighter items from my mantle were also on the floor and the coffee table papers scattered all over . . . and soaked. After the shock sank in, and I had figured out a game plan, I couldn't help but stop and be grateful that my pup's crate was where it was. The ruckus in the next room certainly spooked North, but I am still happy that the damage to my little one wasn't worse. Things could be replaced, movie nights could be rescheduled, but there's certainly only one North!

Friday Night Lights Still Shining For Minka Kelly

Great news for Minka Kelly - so let's skip the whole here she is walking her dog in LA yesterday bit and go straight to the good stuff. Friday Night Lights may (fingers crossed!) be coming back for a third season. Most of the show's fans thought that it was dead in the water after the lackluster and totally depressing abrupt (due to the writers' strike) end to season two. The new season would be thanks to some deal NBC made with DirecTV, the details of which are still a mystery, but no matter what I'm happy. Yay for more Minka and yay for more FNL.

Netflix Partners Up With NBC to Offer Shows Online

Tensions certainly grew in my house this week when we realized that someone forgot to set the DVR to record Heroes. Thankfully, I had a Dr. Phil lightbulb moment and remembered that my laptop is connected to a Slingbox, so we ended up watching it online-crisis diverted! If you happen to be a Netflix subscriber, NBC has announced a deal with Netflix to offer more TV content on Netflix.com. This deal will allow subscribers to view past episodes of other NBC series including Heroes, 30 Rock, Friday Night Lights and The Office. Fall TV Preview: Friday Night Lights

The much anticipated new show, Friday Night Lights premieres tonight at 8/7c on NBC. The show is based on both the book and the movie of the same name and even has the same director, Peter Berg. So was it really necessary to make this into a TV show also? Anyone remember the disaster TV show that was based on one of the best movies of all time, Clueless?

For those of you who missed the movie, the show has the same premise in that it takes place in a small town in Texas that revolves around the high school football team. Coach Taylor has just been promoted to head coach and is under a lot of pressure by the townspeople to do well. The hands-down most exciting thing about this new show is Kyle Chandler as Coach Taylor. Kyle played Dylan, the hot bomb squad guy that got blown up last season on Grey's Anatomy! Just like in the movie, the star quarterback gets hurt at the end of the first episode and it seems that the rest of the season will tell the story of the rise of the second string quarterback and the trials and tribulations of the first time head coach. I actually enjoyed the pilot, but with all of the good new shows out this season, I feel like I've already seen this one before.
