What to Expect on the High Street Next Spring

Attending catwalk shows and reporting back is always exciting, but when you see the High Street interpretations it gives you an idea of how the trends will really manifest. Yesterday, Arcadia held their Spring press day which presented the items due to hit store from January 2010. Although I can't show you any images just yet (patience is a virtue!) I wanted to tell you a bit about what to expect.

First up, I checked out Miss Selfridge which was very girly. It was divided in to two key trends; neutrals and '90s florals. There were nude shades covered in sequins for flapper style dresses with subtle jacquard floral prints and delicate feminine fabrics. These were contasted against bright, floral prints, grungey designs and '90s boho.

Next up was Topshop, which is always the most trend driven of the High Street stores. They split the Spring collection in to four key themes; body armour, la latina, meadow and techno traveller. Body armour was my favourite part with sportswear inspired designs and '90s column maxi dresses. La latina is the high Summer collection with bright fun prints, whilst meadow is a bit more subdued with soft floral prints. Finally, techno traveller will appeal to festival fans as pieces were bright, cheerful with embellishment and fringing.

As fashion begins to return to the world of elegance and glamour we see the emergence of fringe detailing. This delicate addition to tops, dresses and accessories adds texture and movement. It featured on the catwalk at Chanel and Jaeger but also at Gareth Pugh where (never one to do things by halves) he used actual hair. Fringe detailing is most strongly associated with flapper dresses but can adorn tops and jackets just as effectively.

Look of the Day: Fierce Fringe

Which New Moon Premiere Hairstyle Looks Best on Kristen?

Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner kicked off the world wide press tour for New Moon on Tuesday in Paris. Kristen arrived in a girly, flesh-toned dress with her hair styled all down and parted in the centre. The following day in London, she wore her hair up, and last night at a fan event in Madrid, her hairstyle was more rocker looking with her fringe parted on the opposite side, and her layers less wispy.

Miss Moss in fur - how Fab. Kate walked out of a London restaurant wearing one of her favorite fur chubbies. Underneath she kept it basic: black tank, black cardigan, and black jeans. But her scuffed-up tan buckle boots and fringe Genevieve Jones bag are not-so basic. Notice the tiny emerald earrings that dress her earlobes and her prominent cocktail ring.

I Love Your Shopstyle: Singin' in the Rain

The nonstop precipitation has me in a bit of a funk, but natural born styler brightened up my day. Her rainproof ensemble makes me want to start singin' in the rain. She refrained from featuring the per-usual rain jacket and galoshes, and, instead, chose a pair of patent boots, skinny trousers, Lichtenstein sweater, and fringe poncho complete with a clear, kitschy umbrella! Now that's what I call slick, wet-weather dressing.

2010 Paris Fashion Week: Isabel Marant

Isabel Marant - a Fab obsession - opted for more detail, more color, and more leg for Spring. Per usual, I adore everything, minus the camouflage boots. Marant delivered an eclectic chic mix of frilly skirts and dresses, sumptuous tweed, cool prints, girlie ruffles, city shorts, hot hot pink, and sweet turquoise. Railroad denim is redone: teeny short shorts, patchwork miniskirts, and cutoff jeans. Khaki jackets and vests are far from preppy in silky fabrics and utilitarian styles.Pants are either laid-back loose or sexy tight, shown in silky black, Carmen Kass multicolored stripes, hot pink, and cool gray; this pictured pair of laced up black pants are a new classic, totally unique.
