To Catch a Predator - With a PS3

Forget fancy expensive computers - Federal Agents have a new tool in the fight against child pornography - the Sony PlayStation 3. Turns out, when several PS3s are networked together, their processing component is perfect for cracking computer passwords, which are protected under the Fourth Amendment of the Constitution. So investigators can seize a suspect's computer, but they have to crack the passwords on their own.

The gaming consoles work well because of their computing power; producing detailed gaming graphics requires a lot of power. The PS3 is particularly well suited because it allows you to install Linux, an open-source operating system.

One funny catch: you can't install a new OS on the new PS3 Slim, released in September - it requires an older model. The solution? They're buying old PS3s off eBay!

The Office, "Murder": Best Lines of the Night and Video!

Well, I do declare! This week's The Office was silly good fun. Distraught over rumors of bankruptcy, Michael suggests that the employees engage in a murder mystery game called Belles, Bourbon and Bullets to keep their spirits up. Pam's recent bad attitude seems to lift as she gets into character, and Andy uses the opportunity to ask Erin on a date. (I can't wait for when those two finally hook up!)

Ready to take a look at some of my favorite quips from the episode (and share your own in the comments)?

Jim: "With all due respect to everyone here, I think the most worthy opponent of you is you."
Dwight: "That is correct. Unless there happen to be measles present."
How awesomely ridiculous is the opening scene where Dwight tries to fight himself during his own karate instructional?! That right there is why Rainn Wilson gets nominated for Emmys.

Check out Erin delivering yet another great quote this week! I'm curious to see what the writers do with her character, especially now that they're setting up this will-they-or-won't-they thing with Andy that's slightly reminiscent of another Office couple.

"You can all have jobs at Schrute farms as human scarecrows. It doesn't pay much, and you can't unionize."-Dwight
Leave it to Dwight to concoct a plan when news of the company's money loss hits the Scranton branch.

"Operation got me through my vasectomy, i.e. my operation. I don't think I would've been able to endure my breakup with Holly had it not been for Toss Across."-Michael
Michael explains his use of board games as a coping mechanism to Jim, but my favorite part is when he plays "Lullaby" by Sean Mullins on his computer to wallow in his sadness. Anyone else remember that song? Love the '90s nostalgia!

Kevin: "Now do the Swedish Chef."
Andy: "I'm not familiar, what province is he from?"
Kevin: "He lives on Sesame Street, dumbass."
Andy does such a good job with his Savannah accent using his "molasses" technique that oddball Kevin asks him to talk like the Swedish Chef from Sesame Street. But I have to mention Creed -I was dying when he shows up to the office, hears about the "murder," and speeds off in his car! Also, kudos to the crime scene with Meredith and to Oscar for putting on the strangest accent I have ever heard. Check him out in this video:

Sad thing is, Michael's probably telling the truth.

So what's your assessment of the evening? It sounds like there are tough times ahead for everyone, since David Wallace says the company will be out of money by the end of the year. More Seniors Are Taking the Plunge Into Tech

I may have a game-loving gramps, but he doesn't really venture into the Internet without a little assistance. I'll cut him a break since he's in his eighties, but a recent study shows that more and more seniors are taking the plunge into Facebook, blogs, and tech in general than ever before. Stats show that the senior population (age 65 and over) that uses the Internet has tripled since 2005.

Back in the day, it used to be nearly impossible for the older set to get a handle on tech, but it seems that as times progress and technology is a little easier to grasp, senior citizens aren't afraid to jump in and get their feet wet online. Even if your dad still needs help with his WiFi, you can give him props for at least having an email address. Do the seniors in your life use technology? Kate Hudson Gets Candid About Men and Botox in Elle

Kate Hudson is looking super fit and toned as she stars on the front cover of December's issue of Elle magazine! She talked to them exclusively about a range of subjects from her upbringing, to her rumoured engagement and her thoughts on cosmetic surgery. Here's some extracts from her interview:

On boys: "I sometimes feel like when you’re talking to boys, they just hear certain keywords. But if you had a bubble above their head, they’d be thinking about game scores, masturbation and food... I love boys, but I believe they’re really simple. Every guy likes to say that they’re complicated, but they’re so easy to figure out. What did that Dr Laura say? Something like, 'All men want is sex and for you to make them a sandwich.' I thought that was really funny – and not entirely untrue."
On her rumoured engagement to Alex Rodriguez: "Did you know that it was this one [ring], on my right hand? I hear about this and I’m like, 'Why would I even respond? What would I say if you’re going to lie about something ridiculous?' And if you really did your job, you’d look at the pictures taken that day and realise it was on my right hand."
On cosmetic surgery: "I was in a press conference once, and someone says, 'So, I can tell you’ve never had Botox!' Is that a compliment? Or are you trying to say I’m starting to get wrinkles? I literally was like, 'What?' Everyone’s so obsessed with who gets Botox, but it’s great! Are you kidding? The fact that women can avoid going under the knife, and get a little Botox treat and not have to worry about it? I’m glad it’s there for when it’s time."

On her upbringing: "I grew up in a family where, if you felt any kind of suffering or sadness, if you didn’t go there and really understand it and delve into it, you wouldn’t understand what it was like to be really joyful."
On the joys of being a girl: "I love being a girl. I love clothes and I love the rituals of facials and body treatments, all the stuff girls get, make-up, scarves, hats... And we’re like a tribe. That’s just our nature. You get a group of women together and, somehow, we keep it together. I love that we can be that powerful, as a group. Men, you know, it’s survival of the fittest."

Exclusive: Chris and Ola Share Strictly Backstage Secrets!

I'm loving this series of Strictly Come Dancing so I was very excited to have the opportunity to put some questions to Chris Hollins and his professional dance partner Ola Jordan. From their favourite routine to the most challenging dance, who they want to see win, and which judge they'd most like to have dinner with, the couple gave me all the gossip from backstage. What's been your favourite dance and why?
Chris: It's got to be the rumba. it was my second ever dance and from the moment I started it I hated it, I didn't want to ever do it and gradually, slowly but surely I got into the mood of this romantic dance. And from the very first time that all our colleagues saw us do it we knew it was quite special. And then we got 30 points. Sadly never been near it since. Was it yours as well?
Ola: Yes, it would definitely be the rumba. I think we felt comfortable in the rumba and we had quite a lot of training before that dance.
Which dance has been the most challenging for you so far?
Chris: 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Quickstep! The problem with fast music is that you've got more steps to learn.
Ola: And it's not even just that, there's a lot of kicks and movement and you've got to stay in a posture. It's just a difficult dance and I don't think it was Chris' dance.
Chris: The difficulty is if you forget something then it's practically impossible to get back into it. It's not like the rumba which is 1,2,3,4. If you miss something in the Quickstep it could be 16 steps before you can catch it up. I forgot 3 bits which is 3x16. That's quite a lot of steps. 48!

If you don't win which couple would you like to see win?
Chris: Gosh that's a good questions isn't it. [To Ola] Shall we go for James? We'll go for James and Zoe. He's got to have some consolation for losing his wife.
Which judge would you most like to have dinner with?
Chris: Well, I'm going to look funny if I go to dinner with Bruno, Len or Craig but I would love to go for dinner with Len because I think he's got so many funny stories to tell. Yes, I'd go for Len as I think he's a real smoothy and I think he'd have a lot of funny stories.
What's the most fun aspect of Strictly and what's the most challenging?
Chris: I think the best thing about Strictly for me is the training with Ola. We have fun and you're doing something totally out of your comfort zone. Really enjoying just getting it. The worst thing about Strictly is having to perform it for me because you get everything right and then on Saturday you've got to show everyone what you've learnt and I find that really really tricky. Not the first week but since then I've found it really tricky not to panic. Most challenging is having to put it all together on Saturday night when you're nervous.

The Difference Between First, Second, and Third Babies

The game telephone may have been popular back in grammar school, but grown women get all kinds of information passed to them via email or word of mouth. Some forwards ring more true than others. First baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN
confirms your pregnancy.
Second baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
Third baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.

Preparing For the Birth:
First baby: You practice your breathing religiously.
Second baby: You don't bother practicing because you remember breathing
didn't do a thing.
Third baby: You ask for an epidural in your eighth month.

First baby: You prewash newborn's clothes, color coordinate them, and
fold them neatly in the baby's little bureau.
Second baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard

Diapering:
First baby: You change your baby's diapers every hour, whether they need
it or not.
Second baby: You change their diaper every two to three hours, if needed.
Third baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain
about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.

Activities:
First baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby
Story Hour.
Second baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
Third baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner.

Going Out:
First baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call
home five times.
Second baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a
number where you can be reached.
Third baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees
blood.

At Home:
First baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.
Second baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older
child isn't squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.
Third baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children.

Swallowing Coins (a favorite):
First child: when first child swallows a coin, you rush the child to the
hospital and demand X-rays.
Second child: when second child swallows a coin, you carefully watch for
coin to pass.
Third child: when third child swallows a coin you deduct it from his
allowance!!

The ShamWow of E3: Splinter Cell Conviction

If you've seen the infomercials for ShamWow on late-night TV, then I'm assuming you're a proud owner of the super absorbent shammy. I know I am. So when I saw this guy at the Ubisoft booth at E3 yesterday, it totally reminded me of the commercial. He was so excited about the new features in Splinter Cell Conviction that he had a huge crowd forming! Hey, if you weren't already excited to play the game, then you should be now. "Mark and execute" the video of this enthusiastic developer (and seasoned salesman) in the short video below.
