Rob, Kristen, and Taylor Are This Week's Entertainment

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, and Taylor Lautner have been posing for photo ops all over town - check out Pop's favorite promo tour moments - and it wouldn't be complete without an interview with Entertainment Weekly. In the cute interview, the costars quip about everything from Rob's attachment to his signature hair to Kristen's confession that she'd like to quit smoking to Taylor's obsession with hitting the gym for New Moon. There're also tidbits about Rob and Kristen's off-screen relationship and how Robert handles fandom. They're clearly a tight-knight trio, so check out the highlights below. If you can't get enough Twilight, keep the convos going in the Twilight Saga community group, and be sure to check back next week for my own interview with Ashley Greene and Kellan Lutz!

Robert Pattinson on his hair in Eclipse: I swear to you I’ve never experienced anything like this. It's every single day. In Twilight, they wanted me to have extensions down to my hips.
Kristen Stewart: He's a liar. He doesn't remember. He's remembering how they made him feel, but they were just, like, down to here [pointing to her shoulders].
Pattinson: So I told them, "Look, that's just not going to happen." I said, "It looks like this already – I'll come to set like this." I sound so stupid, but in a lot of ways the hair is 75 percent of my performance, so in the second one I said, "Listen, I need to tone down the hair. Let's make it a little more real, a little bit more . . . Method.” [Laughs] And then in the third one, I'm doing fight scenes and there's a strand going down my forehead and they're like, "We need to do it again because no one will recognize you! No one will know who it is!" I'm like, really, is my face that generic?
Stewart: They want proof that you're doing your own stunts, man!
Pattinson: I have to look like the poster at all times. Just in case they want to use any clip for the trailer. Any clip at all! There were about five people in different departments who, because of my forelock, ended up in tears.

For tons of more quotes, just read more.

EW: How are you all coping with living in a fishbowl?
Pattinson: It really depends on the mood. When I met you last year [before Twilight came out], I was doing interviews very sporadically and I never got recognized. Now it's like anywhere I go there's immediate recognition. So there's more of a responsibility . . .
Stewart: I don't mind working every day. It's just, suddenly, I have this other role. And that's really disappointing. All I'd like to do is go outside with a book and figure out what to do with the day. And if I can't do that, then I'm just going to sit in my hotel room on my balcony and chain smoke. [Pauses] I'm going to stop smoking. I'm not such a good smoker, anyway. It's not in my bones. I'm gonna drop it.
Pattinson: The three of us have been working for two years [straight]. It does feel like your day has a shape just as soon as you wake up. I just forget what it's like when you're free.

EW: Taylor, you're the only one who almost lost a shot at the sequels. Do you have a different relationship with fame because you had to fight for your job?
Lautner: No, I kept my eye on the prize 100 percent of the time. I was motivated. I wasn't even thinking about anything else.
Stewart: Thank God you got the job. I wouldn't have wanted to deal with you if you didn’t. After all those months of working out!
Lautner: I just wanted to focus on what I could control, and I worked really hard.
EW: You mean in the gym? Because I see your abs everywhere these days.
Lautner: Yeah, the gym was a major part, but I really studied the books and the character, too. And it all turned out good.

EW: Kristen, it must be nice to watch the guys' appearances get obsessed over for a change.
Stewart: Seriously, it's a trip to sit back and look at the sexual objectification of these dudes. I've never been asked to do any of this stuff.

EW: You guys are lucky. You clearly all dig each other.
Lautner: The amount of time we have to spend with each other – if I didn't like these two, it would be exhausting.

EW: Rob, you made Remember Me this summer, between sequels. Was that the set in New York, where you were knocked into a cab by hordes of fans?
Pattinson: That was completely made up. I was walking across the street, and there was one cab going about one mile an hour and it nudged my leg. The story ended up being how I got hit by a cab because of a mob of screaming fans, [but] it was 4 o'clock in the morning and there was one person there – a paparazzi. . . . And then there was another time – apparently they said on the news that I had a drug overdose. The security guy saw it on TV, and I wasn't in my room, and he was like, "Uh-oh!" It's just so weird. I wake up and my room is too messy to order room service, and so I end up eating a pack of M&M’s for breakfast – and it takes me about five hours to find it. That's my first five hours of the day. [Laughing] And then you see the news and think, "Who cares if he had a drug overdose? It would probably make him more interesting!"

EW: Kristen and Rob, why do you think people are so obsessed with the state of your off-screen relationship?
Pattinson: Good question. That's a little thing I have to think about every day.
Stewart: Maybe it's just my personality, but I'm never going to answer it. I probably would've answered it if people hadn't made such a big deal about it. But I'm not going to give the fiending an answer. I know that people are really funny about "Well, you chose to be an actor, why don’t you just f---ing give your whole life away? Can I have your firstborn child?"
EW: You don’t think just saying, for example, "Listen, we dated for a few months, it was weird, we're better off as friends" would end the speculation?
Pattinson: No way.
Stewart: People are deeply judgmental and I'm not strong enough. I would love to be like, "I don't care what anybody thinks." But I'm a very private person. And think about every hypothetical answer: "Okay, we are. We aren't. I’m a lesbian." I've thought about this a lot. There's no answer that's not going to tip you one way or the other. I'm just trying to keep something. If people started asking me if I was dating Taylor, I'd be like, "F--- off." I would answer the exact same way."

Jackie O in (Vintage) Nude Photo Scandal!

A word to the wise: naked photos can always resurface - even decades later. As archivists sort through 610 boxes full of memorabilia and junk collected by the late Andy Warhol, they recently stumbled upon an autographed nude photo of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Jackie O was a frequent muse to the packrat artist and apparently gifted him a naked poster signed, "For Andy, with enduring affection, Jackie Montauk." Matt Wrbican, who is overseeing the project of the Andy Warhol Foundation, says the handwriting matches that of Onassis, who often visited Warhol's Montauk, NY, beachhouse. Here's more:

So, after her second husband, Aristotle Socrates Onassis, got a paparazzi to take pictures of her skinny-dipping and it landed in the hands of Larry Flynt, who turned it into a poster for his porn magazine, Hustler, Jackie O sent a copy – likely as a joke – to Warhol, Wrbican said.

Wow, those guys are lucky that Jackie had a good sense of humor about the whole thing. In another funny twist, the relic was found amid junk ranging from receipts to fan mail and even Caroline Kennedy's wedding cake. Just goes to show you never know where things will turn up.

Open House: How Does Your Home Have a Sense of Humor?

Refinery29 recently toured the home of Vena Cava designer Lisa Maycock and while I did love the easy elegance of her home's "lost and found" look, what struck me most was its sense of humor. In a corner of her living room, she placed a wooden triangle pegged with metal spikes on her Marcel Breuer Wassily Chair. In her bedroom, a poster titled "Just Bone Me" with skeletons in kama sutra poses hangs above her bed.I once had a cocktail party, and lined the shelves of my medicine cabinet with medicine bottles filled with candy. Or, sometimes I'll write silly notes to my guests with lipstick on my bathroom mirror. On most days, though, my house is tame, aside from its playful attitude toward scale and trompe l'œil effects like my painted headboard. How about your home? Do you play tricks on your guests? Do you have any funny posters or artwork? Any revolving doors that go nowhere? Tell all below!

Source

We've all seen beer posters and fridge magnets for dudes with messages like "The more I drink, the better you look." Well, there are a lot of cool cocktail napkins for the ladies - some inappropriate, some corny, but all funny. So sit back, sip your Old-Fashioned, and check 'em out.

Emma Watson turned 19 this week, and had a pre-birthday celebration at Whisky Mist. A new Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince trailer and accompanying poster was also released!

Record producer Phil Spector was found guilty of murder, he'll be sentenced on May 29 and faces at least 15 years in prison for second degree murder, and three years for improper use of a firearm.

Following reports that a woman is pregnant with Blake Fielder-Civil's child, Amy Winehouse has apparently written a song called "The Ultimate Betrayal".

Lindsay Lohan made fun of herself in a parody dating advert for website Funny or Die, which the majority of you thought was really funny!

Jade Goody's widower Jack Tweed was jailed for twelve weeks for assaulting a taxi driver.

In amongst many other Guess Who quizzes, I asked you to guess who turns 35 this year!

It was a High School Musical and Hairspray reunion as Zac Efron got all his old costars back together for the LA premiere of 17 Again.

We got our first glance at Keira Knightley in costume and filming new movie Never Let Me Go.

Last weekend's opening show of Britain's Got Talent gave us a couple of very interesting characters - burlesque dancer Fabia Carrera, and the angelic voice of Susan Boyle.

We took a look back at Victoria Beckham's Life in Showbiz and quizzed you on her life so far as she turned 35 years old!

Artists of the Day: Interview With Aesthetic Apparatus

Design duo Dan Ibarra and Michael Byzewski, better known as Aesthetic Apparatus, have made a name for themselves in the niche market of rock posters but make their bucks off of imaginative identity and packaging design. Dan (the Funny One) and Michael (the Sexy One) met working at a design studio in Madison, Wisc., called Planet Propaganda. Those days marked the kickoff of their screen printing career, and they have since opened up studio in Minneapolis. Bona fide music nerds, they design, screen print, and sell limited edition posters for, dare-I-say, "indie" rock bands like Spoon, the Unicorns, and We Are Scientists. They sell these, along with art prints, test prints, some cheeky merch, and a print series called DoomDrips, on their website. Their portfolio of corporate identity branding and packaging design boasts clients like Chronicle Books, Harper Collins, the now-defunct JANE magazine, and ad giant Crispin Porter + Bogusky, for whom they designed (gasp!) a Burger King crown. Michael Byzewski was kind enough to sit down and introduce me to Aesthetic Apparatus in my virtual salon. To read my interview and hear about his plans to design an "expansive line of erotic sleepwear for horses," read more.

How did you two connect? Was it poster love at first sight?
We met each other in a bathroom at the airport . . . errr, wait . . . we met while both working at a design studio in Madison called Planet Propaganda. One of the owners had a band and asked us to screen print some
posters for his band, and we just never stopped after that.

What got you started designing posters for bands? Was there any band that you were dying to make posters for?
We're both big music nerds so it was just a great way to combine our love of design with our love of music. We've been able to work with a lot of musicians that we admire. I think we'd still both love the opportunity to
design something for Tom Waits. Or Stryper.

A band/record label hires you to make them a sweet poster. Where do you start? Do they have an influence on how it turns out, or is it all you?
We start with getting to know as much about the band as possible. Obviously, listening to music is important but we also try to dig up as many interviews and stories about the bands as possible. So, in that way they
have a huge influence. But we also want them to be as involved in the design process as possible, which sometimes they are directly involved and then sometimes they just give a final "A-OK" to the design.

When/why did you decide to start selling art prints in addition to band posters?
We've been doing art prints since we started Aesthetic Apparatus. Recently we've started doing quite a bit more just as another outlet for us outside of rock posters. People can only have so many rock n' roll posters
on their walls.

I love the color mash of your test prints, and I've never seen anything like them. Whose idea was it to make a buck off of them?
Early on we recognized the test prints as something sort of special. We'd throw the ones we thought were "finished" in a pile. Honestly, the test prints are really our favorite prints, and they've actually influenced how we
design. And I guess we figured if we like them so much, others may be interested as well. And they have been!

You have a great portfolio of logos and packaging design. Was that type of design something that just happened and evolved, or were you actively trying to do branding design, DVD packages, etc.?
We've been doing that sort of work since the beginning. The poster work we do is not, for the most part, really how we make money as a studio. The more traditional design jobs like you mentioned are typically how we pay the bills. However, the poster work we do act is a great form of self promotion for us.

So it looks like you've made your way into the "merch" market . . . hoodies, buttons, even a toy. When does your home décor line come out?
We have a line of cat box liners coming out as well as an expansive line of erotic sleepwear for horses. We're gonna take the pet market by storm.

Pop Preview: The Duchess

Keira Knightley's latest period offering, The Duchess, is finally released at cinemas across the UK today. We've seen the stars at the world premiere and attending radio interviews, and now it's time to see if the film lives up to all the hype. Although the poster carries the famous Diana quote - "there were three people in her marriage" - the film has nothing to do with her (as the cast and director told me when I met them recently) so that aspect of the trailer is for marketing and doesn't reflect the content of the film. As Keira said, the Duchess is a fascinating character in her own right.

Keira plays the part of Georgiana Spencer, who becomes Duchess of Devonshire when she marries the much older Duke (Ralph Fiennes). The Duchess was famous at the end of the eighteenth century for her beauty, fashion sense and appetite for gambling. She became a shrewd political operator and a doting mother, but it is her search for love that forms the heart of this story. The complexities of her relationship with her best friend and husband's mistress, Bess Foster (Hayley Atwell), and her affair with Prime Minister in training Earl Grey (Dominic Cooper), drive the plot as Georgiana faces heartbreaking decisions imposed on her by her powerful husband.

To find out why I gave The Duchess four stars, and to read the cast and director's thoughts on the film, just read more

The acting is first-class, and Ralph Fiennes' performance is particularly strong. The Duke is an unsympathetic character on paper but the director, Saul Dibb, said it was very important to Ralph that the Duke was a rounded character. Although it is a dark story, there are a lot of darkly funny moments, and these are courtesy of the Duke. Saul told me his thoughts on Ralph and these lighter moments:

"He just gave us a brilliant performance. I think they are blackly comic, a lot of these moments, often because he absolutely said with conviction things that belonged to the time, values that belonged to the time. For modern audience it’s just so extraordinary to hear those things said so bluntly. He’s also got amazing comic timing".

The locations are breathtaking too, and testament to the decision to film practically every scene in real country houses and impressive buildings rather than studios.

Another strength of the film is the wardrobe. Designed by Michael O'Connor, the outfits that Georgiana and Bess wear are out of this world, or out of this contemporary world anyway.

We also get to see how their clothes are constructed in the undressing scenes, with layers upon layers of dresses, corsets and frames offering us a glimpse beyond the facade.

The wigs are incredible and used as plot devices, like when one catches fire and when the Duke and Earl take theirs off in moments of vulnerability.

My girl FabUK has got the lowdown on what Keira and Hayley said about their experience of wearing the costumes.

The relationship between G (as she is sometimes called in the film) and Bess was the most intriguing part of the film. As Hayley told me, it was a very complex relationship, and I would have liked to have seen more of an exploration into it, but after Bess betrays G's trust the film's focus turns elsewhere. If you want to see more of Hayley on the big screen, she'll be appearing in Brideshead Revisited next month (read the book with me ahead of the film's release!).

The love story between Georgiana and Earl Grey was wonderful, and was my favourite aspect of the film. Dominic gives a great performance, even though at times he comes across as too modern to completely fit in to the period. Ever since he told me all about the practicalities of filming sex scenes I haven't quite been able to look at him in the same light, but he is totally convincing as the man the Duchess truly loves.

Keira is in practically every scene and I was more impressed by her performance in this film than her previous period outings. She only overacts in a couple of scenes, and she made me care about the character. She told me "it was a wonderful challenge" to take on such a big role, but also "completely terrifying". Keira also has strong views on the ending. Without wanting to give too much away, it is seen by some as a happy one, but not by Keira. She told me:

"I think the whole journey for her is from idealism in to reality, in a strange kind of way, and I think she gets very much broken down in the end. The whole thing is like a card game and she plays her cards out and for me, no, she didn’t get a happy ending. She does survive, which is I suppose in itself a happy ending".

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the film, and whether or not you think it's a happy ending, so do let me know once you've seen it.

All in the Family: Barack Obama's Brother Found in Kenya

Far from the hustle of the campaign trail, in a patchwork town on the outskirts of Nairobi, Kenya, Italy's Vanity Fair says they've tracked down Barack Obama's brother. He shares a father with Barack though not a mother. Living in a hut measuring six-by-nine feet, the 26-year-old named George Hussein Onyango Obama, survives on less than a dollar a month.

Plastering the walls of his hut are football posters and one front page newspaper clipping of Barack. This detail topped my heartbroke-list this morning: he says he's embarrassed by the poverty in which he lives and shies away from any Obama connection:

I live like a recluse, no one knows I exist. . . If anyone says something about my surname, I say we are not related. I am ashamed.

That makes my insides cry. To see a picture of George, read more.

George says he's met the Obama we know so well, twice - once as a young boy, and once when Sen. Obama visited Nairobi in 2006. George said it was like meeting a stranger - indeed George gets one brief mention in Barack's autobiography, described as a "beautiful boy with a rounded head." George has had a rough go of it, but is working on setting things right - he's starting classes at a local technical college.

Reading this, I can't help but be amazed. When Obama said, "he doesn’t look like the other presidents on the currency, he’s a got a funny name," stories like this bring that wealth of diversity he was talking about into focus. The US might have a president who has a brother who lives in a hut in Africa. Wow. Are you fascinated by this too?
