Samantha Burke Shares Jude Views and First Pics of Sophia

Samantha Burke has finally opened up about her relationship with Jude Law in an exclusive interview with Hello magazine. She shares the first pictures of five-week-old baby Sophia and talks about how she met Jude and why they broke up, confirms that Jude is yet to meet his daughter, and reveals Sophia is already taking after her father. Here are the highlights:

On Sophia's features: "She has Jude’s chin and nose, and she does a little pout, that I notice he’s done before."
On whether Jude has visited them yet: "There are no plans for it to happen at the moment, but I know he’s busy."
On her relationship with Jude: "I ran into Jude in a nightclub one night. I instantly knew who he was, but he seemed really funny; he was cracking jokes with people and he included me in that. The next thing I knew I was on the pavement outside, being twirled around – it was a lot of fun. Following that initial meeting, Jude and I went out several times. He was a lot of fun to be around, always making me laugh and smile."

On why their relationship ended: "I was scheduled to move to Pittsburgh to help care for my grandmother. Around the same time, Jude was wrapping up his shoot in New York and I knew that he would be heading back to the UK. I knew that as we headed in separate directions our relationship would not continue. And I was okay with that. I was living in the moment and I really enjoyed all my time with Jude. I really have no regrets."
On why she waited to tell Jude about the pregnancy: "I needed time to come to terms with it myself before telling him. By the time that I attempted to contact him, he had been back in the UK for quite a while. The US-based number that I had for Jude no longer worked. Shortly after that, my representative spoke with one of his."
On how Sophia takes after Jude: "He’s very talented, and she might be just as talented, too: she might take after him. She’s already quite theatrical – I’ve noticed she makes a lot of dramatic moves!"
On her future relationship with Jude: "It would be great if we can have a friendship and be cordial. I want everything to be positive around Sophia, I don’t want any negativity. I’m really easy to get along with, so hopefully we can work things out."

Wonder Woman: Amy Poehler

She's had us rolling on the floor with her dead-on impression of Hillary Clinton during the presidential election and cracked us up as the junk food-eating, karaoke-singing surrogate mother to Tina Fey's baby in last year's Baby Mama. Now, Amy Poehler is back on our boob tubes as a public servant in Parks and Recreation.

The new mama - Poehler and her funny man husband Will Arnett welcomed son Archibald "Archie" William Emerson last Fall - went back to her Saturday Night Live Weekend Update chair just a weeks after giving birth to help have fits of hysterics through the final pre-election weekend. Shortly after, she announced her departure from the show in order to play an idealistic bureaucrat who is opening our eyes to the world of local public service.

When we spoke with Poehler during the Baby Mama press tour, she joked that, "I’m just gonna name my kids numbers. New Dude, Little Dude, and eight George Foremans." It looks like she took a different route, but we are loving her just the same.

Are Proper Names Passé?

Jack is short for John and somehow Molly is a nickname for Mary, but Adam Sandler isn't abiding by the proper rules of naming even if it upsets his mother. When the funny man stopped by the Late Show with David Letterman to promote his new, kid-friendly flick, Bedtime Stories, the daddy of two got to talking about his mother's issue with his second daughter's name, Sunny. It turns out the older Sandler thought it was more a nickname than a given one so he joked that his baby's birth certificate reads, "Sunday Night Football."

Scarlett and Samuel Are Like Ricky and Lucy in Spirit

Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson stopped by The Today Show this morning to help promote The Spirit. Over the weekend the costars gave a press conference in NYC, where they jokingly pushed and teased each other while talking about what it was like to play villains together. Frank Miller, who wrote and directed the movie, called Scarlett "one of the greatest comedic talents of our time" and said working with her was like "working with a young Lucille Ball." Here's more:

Scarlett, on why she chose the film: "I’m not really a comic book fan. That world always seemed kind of exclusive to me. What brought me to this project was Frank. I loved Sin City and 300 and I thought 'He must be a pretty interesting fellow.' I’d gotten a script and there really wasn’t any part for me, the Silken Floss character was kind of unwritten. . . we met and had this wonderful three-hour lunch meeting . . . at the end of it I'm like, 'I'm sad there's nothing for me to do.' And he's like, 'I'll think of something.' He decided to expand this character and I got super super lucky. That was really it for me."
On working with Samuel: "As far as Sam and I, it’s funny that [Frank] said Lucille Ball . . . the kind of comedy that we’re in, I feel like Sam was kind of the Lucy and I was the Ricky."
On being eye candy: "The character, she knows that's what she’s offering to the Octopus, and it's part of her appeal. She’s this giant brain who looks fantastic in a short skirt . . . These are her humble beginnings."

On his role: "It’s quite an honor to walk into a situation and put flesh and blood into a character. He gave me license to pretty much be as demented and as genius and as . . . that’s what I wanted. I kind of took that as my license to do all the things that I’ve ever wanted to do in a film and chew as much scenery as I felt like chewing and not be criticized for it. "

Frank Miller and the actors already seemed to be anxious to get to work on a sequel, but first we'll have to see how the holiday crowds treat The Spirit when it comes out Dec. 25.

NYC's Taxi TV: Might Be Annoying Unless Gossip Girl Is On

I'm bummed that I didn't get to experience Taxi TV when I was in New York - the service, though described by this New York article as annoying and wearing on city's taxi-taking populace, actually sounds pretty cool to me, aside from the apparent high volume and constant ads.

If you could get into the cab and pick what you wanted to watch, rather than be imposed upon by what Taxi TV chooses, I think it'd be awesome - most short cab rides would probably be only enough time for like four really funny jokes on 30 Rock, but whatever. How do you feel about Taxi TV, New Yorkers? Can you actually change the channel, or are you subject to whatever is on?

Anatomy of a Cat Brain

Although this is obviously meant as a joke, the Anatomy of a Cat Brain seems spot on nonetheless. Especially the part about the short circuit sending your cat from Prrr to Grrr in no time flat! Although I don't have a cat of my own, I've seen a few turn from cute to crazy, freak out at a can opener, and have heard firsthand about how some have a tendency to ignore you . . . seemingly on purpose! Cats are definitely funny (and sometimes totally strange) creatures – is your cat afraid of something weird and obscure or do you just have a funny kitty story? Tell us about it in a comment below!

Kennedy Honors One Wild and Crazy Guy Among Others

Last night celebs headed to DC to celebrate five stars from different areas of the entertainment industry with Kennedy Center Honors. Cameron Diaz looked fabulous in her funky strapless dress to present Martin Scorsese with an award for his directorial work. Jordin Sparks (is it just us or is she already looking thinner?) and Vanessa Williams were in the house to pay homage to honoree Diana Ross by performing her songs, while musicians Brian Wilson and Steve Fleischer also walked away with medals around their necks. Steve Carell honored one of our favorite funny men Steve Martin and of course threw in a few of his own jokes, saying, "His act was that of an idiot savant, minus the savant. He's a national treasure in the loosest sense of the term."

We've definitely been missing Steve Carell on The Office, but we're glad that we're still getting a dose of his humor during the show's hiatus. Lots more pics including Aretha Franklin, Martin Short, and Ciara so just read more

I hopped into the shower and felt the sting from the hot water on my sunburned back. Turning my neck to look, I noticed the imprint of my bandeau bikini top. It is going to burn for days but my fabulous time at the beach BBQ was so worth it. I still cannot believe that the first time I run into him I am relaxed and wearing next to nothing...couldn't have been better! Sure he may have been toting a pretty skinny little Christina Aguilera look-alike on his shoulder and I might have just gotten out of a Britney-post-Kfed phase, but I knew I looked good all cleaned up! I had gotten my act together since that fateful day when I found the my ex-husband stole all of our money on our joint bank account so he and and his young, blonde mistress could start a new life in Malibu. I don't know what's worst, that I didn't try to seek revenge like my girlfriends have suggested or that this sort of thing, husband leaving wife for a hot younger girl is so typical in our society.

I'm hoping that my trip to Madrid, funded by my wonderful mother, will change my life, and who knows, I might meet a gorgeous Spanish bullfighter. Okay a woman, in her mid-30s, can still wish like a teenager, right? Anyways as I look through the closet filled with turtle-necks sweaters and cardigans, I thought of hitting the local boutiques to find myself new wardrobes. That's when I realized that my old friend from college Elizabeth has a villa on the Southern coast of Spain in Puerto de Santa Maria in Cadiz! She owns and runs a beach bar with her boyfriend Enrique, maybe I could get a little place there and work behind the bar for awhile. I turn from the closet eager to contact her and go to the nightstand where I left my Blackberry. I dial her up and tell her about my situation. She invites me over for coffee. When I arrive at her villa, I am taken aback by the beauty of it's architecture. I walk into my room, as Elizabeth proposed that I stay with her and as I looked out my window in the mid afternoon, I saw that Spain is just amazing - its architecture, it's culture so rich! This is a great escape from the craziness that I was in. I plan to enjoy myself, have a good time and meet some great people.

Then I hear Elizabeth calling me so that she can show me around. As I come down the stairs, I see Elizabeth and Enrique's friend Ocatvio who is extremely gorgeous standing there in khaki shorts and a blue button down shirt accompanied with brown leather loafers. He smiled at me, all six foot two--manly broad shoulders of him--smiled at me. I lusted myself towards him and held my hand out to greet him. He leaned down and kissed my hand when I felt I was blushing and then noticed that Elizabeth and Enrique were staring at me like a museum exhibit.

Elizabeth chimed in and grabbed the both of us saying "Octavio is Enriques family friend, ahem, hes a very astounding artist here in Spain and he also has an amazing yatch that we are so reluctant to be able to spend the day on! Right Ocatvio??" He laughed and said "of course, I hope you have some deck shoes because those heels wont do you any good on the boat."

i looked down at my shoes, took off the straps of my shoes, placed them aside and slipped in a pair of Elizabeth's sandals. "That was fast," Elizabeth said with a smirk. We all started to laugh as I though to myself that everything will go smoothly today as long as I don't get seasick. We pile into Enrique's small silver car and cruise through the Spanish streets toward the marina. I'm in the back seat next to Octavio, the wind running through my hair. I turn towards him and he leans in and whispers, Pardon me for noticing, but your dress strap has, uh, slipped. I looked down and groaned -- apparently I had been channeling my inner Britney or Tara, and half my breast was showing. I covered up, and then tried to make light of it by saying, "Oooops... guess my girl couldn't wait til we got to the beach to come out. I've always wanted to go to a European beach where clothing is optional. I can imagine it to be a very liberating feeling. What do you think??" Octavio smiled and said,"You can be 'liberated' once we get on my yatch."

As we were walking towards the yatch I tripped and fell and face planted into the ground. I broke my nose and blood spurted everywhere. Enrique, Elizabeth and Octavio ran over to me as well as everyone else on the boat dock. Enrique pulled out a cloth from his pant pocket and held it over my nose as Elizabeth shrieked at the site of my blood. I sat up and noticed I had torn my dress and I was a complete mess. All of a sudden I felt a deep cry coming on and tears began to uncontrollably roll down my face. I couldn't control myself, I was sure a sight to tourists because people wouldn't stop starring. Suddenly Octavio picked me up while Enrique grabbed my tote bag and carried me onto his yatch. He sat me down on the couch below deck, pulled out ice from the champagne bucket then wrapped it in a towel and placed it over my nose his soothing voice comforting me. My sobs of pain and embarrassment soon began to quiet down, traded in for little giggles as Octavio joked about the time he fell off his yatch.
"I was sure a sight!" He said, and I laughed. Elizabeth brought me some water and soon I began to slowly drift off to sleep, with Octavio holding me I woke up some time later, with that uncomfortable feeling of not knowing where you are, or how long you've been asleep.

Immediately I felt a pounding in my face around my nose and I recalled with all-to-clear accuracy where I was. Whether I was asleep for minutes or hours, I didn't know, but Octavio had not moved from his spot. He smiled down at me as I woke up and said "How do you feel? Everyone is on deck getting ready to have lunch, are you up to some crab cakes?" I pondered the thought of moving from where I was because my dress was still torn, my face still throbbing and I’m sure I was rather unattractive at the moment. "Sure, I just need to freshen up, where’s the restroom?"

After I safely made it to the tiny restroom that was big enough to only bend at a 45 degree angle, I dug through my bag and changed into some shorts, my cute bikini I just got and a white flowy tunic. I looked at my face in the mirror. Not too bad, it was workable. I pulled out my concealer and dabbed it over my pink nose and soon I looked decent enough to be seen in public again. I threw on some sunglasses, my big floppy hat and made my way upstairs to the deck where I could hear music blaring, laughter and the sound of champagne bottles bursting open. I glanced around searching for Octavio, then saw him waving at me from his table. I made my way towards him, brushing past strangers and stopping when Elizabeth asked how I was doing. I assured her I was just dandy, and continued my way to Octavio, who had the most cutest grin on his face! Plopping myself down beside him, he poured me some champagne and set the crab cakes he promised in front of me.

"Dig in!" He said, and I did. As I ate in such a hurry. It had been hours since I'd eating and crab cakes were one of my guilty pleasures. "I see you keep your word" I murmured as I swallowed the tasty crab cakes. Octavio plastered a huge grin across his face as he whispered in my ear "You look very lovely today, despite your little accident, the most gorgeous woman I've ever laid my eyes on" Of course I started to blush and giggle like a school girl. He grabbed my hand and squeezed gently and stared me deep in the eyes. I couldn't stop concentrating on his beautiful lush brown puppy dog eyes, I could feel myself falling, and falling fast, as his face grew closer to mine. "I know our day didn't start out on the right food, but I am so happy to have you as my guest, I just have a funny feeling this is the beginning of something amazing."

I couldn't believe this was actually happening to me -- I gave him a kiss on the cheek and whispered, "I couldn't have said it any better".

Proper E-Mail Etiquette

I have a couple of questions about the proper rules of e-mail. I am 37 and have really just started to embrace my computer after being a stay at home mom with four young kids. I've never really had the time to use it, but now that I am working part time, there are definitely a few things I am unsure of.

For example, is it impolite not to respond to every message that I get? Also, is it acceptable to forward e-mails? Lastly, it seems like everyone is so short with each other over e-mail. It's really hard to tell sometimes when/if someone is being rude. Is my perception correct, or is this just the new way to write? Out Dated Daisy

Dear Out Dated Daisy
These are excellent questions for those of us at any age. We all use computers, and it's never too late to remind ourselves of the proper ways to conduct our behavior...even if it is via e-mail. Here are my answers to your questions.

No, you definitely do not have to respond to each and every e-mail that you get. Think of e-mail the same way you think of getting a phone message or a letter in the mail. You have the right to pick and choose the messages you deem important. However, it is quite simple to send a note of courtesy. So when in doubt, send a short, polite note back.

Forwarding e-mails is dangerous. If something was sent just to you, then it was meant just for you. Would you ever pass around a personal handwritten letter? It would feel very wrong, and that is because it's a betrayal. Now, there are of course exceptions. Group schedules, links, funny stories/jokes etc... are all OK to send around. This is just the kind of thing that makes e-mail an easy and wonderful asset to our lives.

Oftentimes, it does seem like everyone is short on e-mail. People tend to rush offline and you can hide behind your computer and say things that you wouldn't necessarily say face to face. Some helpful advice is to read the message before you send it. Many times, people don't even bother to check what they are sending and they become embarrassed and regret the message later on. Also, be careful with humor and sarcasm. It can be misinterpreted since tone and fluctuation is difficult to transmit online. Good luck.
