The Black Balloon: See It or Skip It?

Multi-award winning Australian film The Black Balloon tells the poignant story of Thomas (Home & Away's Rhys Wakefield) and the difficulties his family face. When his pregnant mum (Toni Collette) has to take it easy, Thomas starts to take care of his autistic older brother Charlie (Luke Ford). With the help of his new girlfriend (Amanda Seyfried lookalike Gemma Ward), Thomas learns the importance of love and kindness over the need to fit in. It's out on DVD on Monday, with commentaries and interviews amidst the extras. Check out the trailer and let me know if you'll see it or skip it.

Fab Flash: Gemma Ward to Retire From Modeling?

Australian model Gemma Ward has been branching out recently taking acting roles in major films. She has already starred in both The Strangers and Black Balloon.

Pedestrian magazine is today claiming that Gemma Ward is close to officially retiring from modeling. They say that she is retiring to pursue her Hollywood acting career.

I think that Gemma is a great model and looks amazing in editorials for fashion magazines. Here she is pictured on the catwalk at Valentino where she looks gorgeous.

The retirement has not officially been announced yet but it's been rumoured for a while. We wish her luck in Hollywood!

Something about viewing go-see Polaroids of models seems invasive, but cool. It's almost like getting a sneak peek of your favorite models in the comfort of their own home, without tons of makeup, without all the serious posing. For those who aren't familiar with modeling jargon, a go-see is an appointment arranged by the model or her agency as an opportunity to interview with clients. Models are asked to keep their face bare and their clothes simple and form-fitting. That's because designers and magazine editors want to see the real girl, sans all the fluff. Here are a bunch of go-see Polaroids that cast a new light on some of your favorite models, including Gemma Ward (left), Erin Wasson, and Daria Werbowy.

Welcome to the . . . circus? That's what happens when you throw Agyness Deyn, Caroline Trentini, Gemma Ward, Iselin Steiro, Lily Donaldson, and Sasha Pivovarova in a park with drag queen-style makeup and colorful clothes that give new meaning to the term mismatched. Fashion Rocks 2007's "In My Tribe" editorial is one big, crazy lovefest outfitted by what looks like House of Holland on acid. Agyness must be in heaven! The funniest is Lily (center), double hoola hooping like she doesn't have a care in the world. All the while, the white bunny rabbits in the back are thinking, I wonder how these models feel about interspecies dating!
