Who Wore It Better? Cobalt Silk Marchesa Mini

It's stiff competition when it's between the model-like designer of the dress and an actual model. Alas, we must decide. Both beauties wore this cobalt strapless silk wool dress with draped bodice and kept everything to a minimum, to let the dress shine. Stunning earrings were adorned by both, as well as neutral pumps - though Jacquetta's sandals have a slight gold sheen. We don't witness Georgina's handbag, but Jacquetta's embellished gunmetal Marchesa clutch looks pretty cool. Who wore it best?

Last week at the Music Unites Fall Masquerade Gala, Kerry Washington and Georgina Chapman wore pretty, poufy frocks from Georgina's coveted Marchesa line. Both dresses were white, but notice how the two styles varied in texture. Kerry's tulle embellishment and streamlined shape gave a more architectural appeal, while Georgina's feathered creation emoted flirty, flapper energy. Both beauties accessorized with sleek black clutches and matching pumps. This one's a toughie: do you prefer the designer or the celebrity?

Over a year ago, it was announced that Marchesa designer Georgina Chapman would be a guest designer for classic jewellery house Garrard. The jewellers was previously under the direction of Jade Jagger. Last night in New York, her first efforts were unveiled to a celebrity crowd. Rachel and the Gossip Girls Keep the Fashion Fun Coming

Spring Fashion Week is moving right along in NYC, with lots of celebs turning out to take it all in. Rachel Zoe put aside her fashion flu to join Blake Lively and Brad Goreski last night at Marchesa to check out their Madame Butterfly-inspired collection. Leighton Meester kept her show stamina up after seeing 3.1 Phillip Lim yesterday, attending Proenza Schouler's urban scuba collection alongside Rachel McAdams and Anna Wintour, whose recent chumminess has people speculating about her future Vogue collaboration. Janet Jackson even stepped out for her first time, taking in Ralph Lauren today with his daughter Dylan.

Marchesa Enters Handbag Land

Marchesa is known for its ultraglamorous gowns, but the luxury house is about to be recognized for its equally stunning accessories. Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig have decided to enter handbag land for Spring '10. "We were frustrated because we couldn’t find [an evening] bag to fit it all," said Craig. The collection consists of 28 clutches and evening cases with elaborate details such as beading, pleating and corsetry. Elements of jewelry are also in the mix - handles have beads and crystals. Expect to find Marchesa handbags in evening-wear departments where its dresses are sold, as well as on the main floor in accessories departments. If I'm excited, then Rachel Zoe is for sure going bananas!

Trend Alert: Making Straight Look Great

At last night's New York City screening of The September Issue, a documentary about Vogue, Anna Wintour and what goes into putting together the biggest issue of the magazine, the crème de la crème of the fashion world rocked the red carpet. I don't know about you, but I especially loved this photo of Sienna Miller touching Anna Wintour. Doesn't it just make you feel uncomfortable to see someone warmly and openly engaging the model ice queen?

I also loved gawking at Georgina Chapman (Marchesa designer), Vera Wang and Bee Shaffer's shiny, long hair. They make straight look glamorous and enviable with evenly cut edges and a kind of body that only comes from what I have to guess is hours of mane maintenance. Seriously, it looks as though their hair has been spun from silk! No matter how many deep conditioning treatments I incur, my hair will never grow to be that long and look that healthy. Do you have any secrets for how to get luxe hair like Georgina, Vera and Bee?

Designers Make a Cameo on Gossip Girl

We don't know what fabulous drama will unfold in next season's Gossip Girl, but we do know who will be making a stylish cameo on the show: Tory Burch and Georgina Chapman. The two designers were spotted shooting scenes for the Oct. 5. episode. Their lips were sealed on the fashionable storyline but they did tell us that the scene will take place on a set made to look like Burch’s real life office. “I am a huge fan [of ‘Gossip Girl’],” said Chapman. “I was very nervous [on-set].” Gossip and fashion in one juicy episode? It doesn't get better than this people.

Freaky or Fabulous: Georgina Chapman Poses With Exotic Animals

We can't help but be amused by the oxymoron between the ethereal gowns Georgina Chapman creates for Marchesa and the dark nature of her photo shoot for Harper's Bazaar, shot by by Peter Lindbergh. Channeling the energy of the brand's muse - European socialite Marchesa Lusia Casati - Chapman dressed up to look like Casati with fluffy hair and a moody makeup palette. But what really catches our attention are the writhing snakes and cheetahs pictured with Chapman. It's definitely a side of Marchesa we're not used to seeing; do you think it's freaky or fabulous?
