Tis the season for all that glitters! From sparkly eyes to shimmery lips, cheeks and shoulders, if you have any glitter makeup that you've been wanting to bust out, now is the time. Glittery goodies can be a lot of fun to play with, but remember that only one feature on your body should be the main attraction.

Who ever said that glittery makeup is only reserved for the middle-school crowd? At last night's New York premiere of Amelia, it definitely wasn't Hilary Swank. Wearing an unexpected silvery-blue shadow on both her upper and lower lash lines to coordinate with her steely blue-green gown, Hilary proves that sparkling, shimmery finishes don't have to look cheesy.

Halloween is the time of year to live out your hair and makeup fantasies. Let loose next Saturday night and let yourself get creative, or simply put a modern spin on the classics by dressing up as a sexy kitty cat, a feisty devil, a fairy princess or a movie or TV witch.

On Friday, Emma Bell showed her 2009 Spring collection which was inspired by cartoons. The clothing was designed in exaggerated proportions in bright neon colours with hints of sequins for an extremist, fantasy club-land feel.
The models wore body paint in addition to coloured tights and retro, 1940's styled hair.

Urban Decay's Eyeshadow ($16) has long been a favorite of makeup junkies, but lately the company has expanded its collection even further to include new textures and colors. Reader gooz1231 tried out the newest palette, and says:
"The brighter colors have great pigmentation and they go on lovely and smoothly. Some of the colors, like Midnight Cowboy Rides Again, tend to have chunky glitter, so I would avoid those—but the rest are really nice.

Freida Pinto has been making Paris considerably more adorable this week, holding hands with cutie boyfriend Dev Patel at the fashion shows and taking to the streets in a variety of sweet outfits. At the Louis Vuitton show, her makeup was the standout part of her ensemble. It was subtle, but it gave her a gorgeous glow and played up her features perfectly.

Leave it to Katy Perry to sparkle on the MTV Video Music Awards red carpet. (What, you thought she'd show up looking subdued?) Her dazzling eye makeup created maximum drama, but by pairing it with matte lipstick colors (coral for the red carpet, red for the performance) and soft pink blush, makeup artist Jake Bailey kept things from looking too Xanadu. Want to make a commitment to sparkle motion by mimicking Katy's look?
