Mar 4 2008 - 3:30pm Every other Wednesday on BuzzSugar, I post a
Recast challenge, where I ask you to choose new actors for a classic TV show or movie. The reader who submits the best cast wins a BuzzSugar t-shirt!
Interestingly, some of my favorite recast suggestions this week were for the part of the psychologist character in Good Will Hunting, Sean Maguire, originally played by Robin Williams.

Congrats redscorpio. Okay if these was actually being made, could you imagine the accents in the film: Irish, British, and Scottish. hahaha i love it, but then again they'll probably have to adopt a Boston accent. BUt Natalie Portman must stay away from imitating a British accent FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE.
"you're my sistah; therefore you're hof of me." :ROTLF:
...ANDDD a shout out from Buzz is good enough for me.
1pinkflats: Firstly, I have to agree with you on Portman's accent. It bugged me.
2Secondly, however, in the original Good Will Hunting, Minnie Driver had to cover up her accent with an American one.
Though, it's true, I bet these guys might some difficulty with the Boston accent!
i didn't think that was natalie's accent, i'm pretty sure scarlett is the one who said "you're my sistah; therefore you're hof of me."
3Congrats to all! The new cast is great. As always, I admire everyone who is clever enough to enter these recasts. They're fun!
4Well, Scarlett says that "hof of me" line to King Henry when he asks why she's defending Anne, but I still wasn't particularly fond of Natalie's accent, personally.
5did minnie driver really cover up her american accent in the film? because, correct me if i'm wrong, she did use her british accent in the film. and didn't she tell will about her being from england but studying at harvard? hmm...maybe i have watched too many films in my life and i'm messing up my plotlines.
"i'm pretty sure scarlett is the one who said "you're my sistah; therefore you're hof of me.'"
i only picked out those lines because they were the ones being repeated in every commercial for the film, and the ones that stuck out from me. nonetheless, bad british accents is bad british accent.

7ack, double post. sry.
8Ah, you are correct, pinkflats. My mistake!
9Hilarious cast! If you set the film in England instead then Natalie can use her American accent and be the student from America. James does a spot on English accent and I am sure Jonathon Rhys Myers could do one as well.
10yiddidea: You are a genius.
Also, I love your avatar!
11Thanks Buzz. Love me some McAvoy!
12My three favourite male actors in one movie...if only! A girl can dream...
I think the guys would all do a great job...and I think they could probably pull of the accent too - James in particular seems great at getting the different accents spot on (English (several different local ones), American).
I like Natalie Portman...not sure about her in that role but I'd definitely give her the benefit of the doubt!
13I am really glad you all liked my recast!
Hugh Laurie was the one that came
immediately to my mind, Mc Avoy right after and Jonathan Rhys Meyer was the last.
14yiddea: you are right about England - I had also thought of the movie taking place somewhere in the UK. Portman could indeed keep her American accent or try a english one - unless I am mistaken, Portman has already done a rather good job with english accent at V for Vendetta so maybe she could try it again. But we can only dream of such a recast so ...
And may I add how amazing I believe Hugh Laurie would have been in this role? A-ma-zing!!!!
15Man, all this talk about how this movie would work is making me really want to see this remake, haha!
16Seriously - who do we have to talk to to get this into production?
17PollyPlissyPants: Should we try Matt Damon & Ben Affleck? Maybe they would like doing a remake of their Oscar-winning film...
18redscorpio: Seems like a good place to start! I think they might jump at the chance to work with those talented people...
Or wait...I would jump at the chance. They might take some more convincing
