It isn't a pretty picture: you're stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic cursing out the cars in front of you for clogging up the road. Instead of yelling at your fellow commuters, whip out your fancy phone for easy access to mobile maps that will offer alternate routes, drive time projections and apps that will tell you how long it's really gonna be.

My new favorite online tool comes from Bookmaplet and it has revolutionized my life (OK, maybe not to that extreme, but it brings a smile to my face every time I use it!). I love to travel, and hate not knowing exactly where a place is when it's mentioned on a website. All you have to do is drag and drop Map That Address into your toolbar, and then whenever you're on a site that names a city name, an address, or even a country, just highlight it (like I did with Reading, PA, in the pic below) and click "Map That Address."

Google Maps has just announced a new feature called Favorite Places where users can select either the global or local option to see what trendsetters and local experts select as their favorite places and businesses. Google is using this new project as a way to bring attention to local businesses while encouraging those without websites to get online. As much as I like to think I already have my list of personal city faves, I absolutely love this feature because it opens up so many new options for me and you can see a gallery of photos from the location!

I spent some time exploring unfamiliar territory over the weekend and charted out my adventures and directions with Google Maps in advance. Blame it on the Henny the night before, or my inability to chat with my copilot and drive, but I got lost. As we sat at the side of a sketchy road, frustrated and ready for a Garden Burger, I thanked my lucky stars for my iPhone.
