The show airs at nine o'clock tonight live from Berlin on MTV, and I'm so excited because the red carpet is already on fire with artists and other celebrities looking fierce. Would You Rather Your Guy Wear Makeup or Have High-Maintenance Hair?

Last night in New York City, MAC Cosmetics held a private artists' studio tour event for talent that loves and supports their makeup. British clothing designer Gareth Pugh was there with perfectly straightened hair and American frontman for the band Semi Precious Weapons and jewellery designer Justin Tranter was also there with a piecey platinum coif and heavily lined smoky eyes. Tell me, would you rather your guy wear makeup or have hair that takes him longer to style than it takes you?

Earlier this year, we were all mesmerized by pictures of men in makeup, and now, I present to you, part deux of guys rocking eyeliner and lipstick. Should Guyliner Be Banned?

At the end of last month, a 13-year old boy was told by school officials in Hamilton, OH that he needed to remove his black lipstick and eye liner because his makeup was "extreme and distracting." The boy, Matt, didn't see it that way, saying, "I don't find this distracting at all." His mom felt that the school system was being discriminatory. But administrators claimed that the same rules apply for girls wearing excessive makeup. Do you think the school was right in singling him out? Or should Matt be able to flaunt his WentzPentz with pride?

What Do You Think of Makeup on Men?

With the recent launch of Guyliner,– a black eyeliner specifically for men – not to mention celebs like Russell Brand, The Horrors, (pictured), Pete Doherty and Robbie Williams, wearing black eyeliner – the makeup look for men has gone stellar.

I'm all for experimentation where makeup is concerned, whether you're a girl or a guy. Although, personally I have a good/bad list for what I consider attractive on men. Good: Black eyeliner, smudgy kohl, a touch of mascara, black nail polish, theatrical looks like dark glitter. Bad: Blusher, too much foundation, any hint of red or pink lipstick or lip colour, delicate, 'pretty' makeup.

At the end of the day (or night) though, it's really about personal preference. What do you think of makeup on men?

Guyliner, Manscara...The Boys Are Back in Town

Boys in bands and indie men have been stealing our black eyeliners and smudgy kohl pencils for a while now – whether they're heading to a festival or just hanging out in Camden. The voice of middle England, aka The Telegraph, may be expressing subdued shock at the new 'guy-liner, man-scara' trend, but edgy London boys have been rocking the makeup look for the past few seasons.

British bad boy, Russell Brand is often photographed in eye makeup, although he covered up in dark glasses, for a night out at Boujis, last night. While Pete Doherty, The Killers' singer Brandon Flowers, The Horrors, and The Libertines, all regularly rock out in dark eyeliner and sometimes chipped black nail polish.

Guyliner is a black kohl pencil specifically designed for men, to make their eyes look bigger, or for a grunge-inspired rock look. Now I'm not sure why men need a specific eye liner all of their own, but I'm tempted to buy it for Mr Bella, just because of the name. The cosmetics brand, Taxi are also bringing out a concealer and lip balm, for men, later in the summer – all stocked at Superdrug.

Peter Kelly, the creator of Taxi's range for men, told The Telegraph, "We've developed essentials any guy would borrow from his other half. It's about subtle make-up rather than wanting to create the drag queen look."

Thing is, most of the cool, indie boys I know love to wear drag now. Plus, surely the whole point of a man wearing makeup (as oppose to just using good skincare), is to push the boundaries of what is and what isn't acceptable. Surely as soon as eyeliner...sorry...Guyliner, becomes the norm, then the boys in bands will have to find something else to draw attention to themselves.

Maybe Sophie Ellis-Bextor style rainbow false eyelashes, or catwalk-cool glitter on the eyelids, perhaps?

Russell Brand Is a Trend Setting Goth Detective

Russell Brand and Noel Fielding took to the stage as a double act yesterday evening, reprising their Goth Detectives team for a charity gig at the Lyceum Theatre. Although Russell covered up with sunnies when he left Soho House, we got a glimpse at his eyes in all their smudged guyliner glory when he joined pal Noel in a taxi after their peformance. Both "guyliner" - which is thicker than normal eyeliner to make it easier for men to grip - and "manscara" will appear on shelves in Superdrug this week, with the company's director of trading highlighting Russell and Robbie Williams as famous masculine men who have set the trend. My girl Bella UK's got the lowdown.

Although Russell has apologised to police - following that joke he made recently in Northampton, where he told police he'd spotted a wanted sex attacker - the pretend detective has said he won't rule out making hoax calls on stage again. Fortunately the mischief maker has got lots of projects coming up to keep him out of trouble, reprising his character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, playing a con man in a film being produced by Adam Sandler, and of course hosting the MTV VMAs. Whose Male Rocker Makeup Do You Like Most?

Punk, glam, and goth hit their peak decades ago, but a few rocker dudes still sport makeup today. There's Gerard Way from the band My Chemical Romance, who has worn everything from black to purple to red eye makeup. Then there's Pete Wentz who loves guyliner so much that he created his own line of makeup (kidding - sheesh)! Last but not least is former teen heartthrob Jared Leto, who wears creamy metallic eyeshadow, liner, mascara, and even stripes of bright-pink lipstick on his cheeks.

These guys have a style that's all their own, but I gotta say, it reminds me of angsty dudes I knew in high school - so it isn't exactly the sexiest look to me personally. Out of these three rebel rockers, who do you think pulls the look off best?

Love It or Hate it? Russell Brand's Forgetting Sarah Marshall Premiere Look

Well well, look at what the cat dragged to the Hollywood premiere of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. What one man deems as an edgy hairstyle another might call frizzy and maybe even a little bit freaky. And how about that guyliner? I'm all for taking beauty risks, but is it me or does it seem like Russell and Flowbee duked it out right before this event? How do you feel about Russell's red-carpet look?
