If you caught my latest Designer Spotlight, you know to expect a masterpiece from architect and interior designer Scott Weston. His residential work is phenomenal but I've also got to give him cred in the commercial department. I was blown away by his design of this Sydney hair salon.

I can't even remember the number of times I've walked into a salon asking for "a voluminous blow dry like Lauren Conrad" and have ended up looking like Sarah Harding! I also have friends who swear they only said they wanted a trim and yet came out with four inches lopped off. Plus I have a distant memory of some blonde highlights that were supposed to be subtle but in actual fact resembled tiger stripes.

Blow Styling Salon, located in the trendy meatpacking district in NYC, is a unique and fun one-stop-shop to help get you primped and pretty for a night out on the town. They don't do haircuts; just blow-out's, makeup applications, nails and waxing.
Inside, everything is pink, and the clients are A-Listers who vow never to go above 14th street again or they'll get a nose bleed.

Have you ever left the salon feeling not-so-fabulous about your cut or color? Maybe the blond was a little too yellow for your liking, or there was an obvious bleed mark in your fringe. Or perhaps it was just that your new cut wasn't cooperating with the texture of your hair, leaving you with a string of bad hair days.

Nicole Richie had a Starbucks in hand Monday as she headed out of a salon in LA. Nicole popped in to have her hair done after just getting a few inches chopped off last month. She's sometimes partial to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf when Harlow is around, but this time she was grabbing her drink of choice without the help of her toddler.

Can this BFF rift really be true? For years, hairdressers and celebrities have been besties. Take Jessica Simpson and Ken Paves, Jennifer Aniston and Chris McMillan and SJP and Serge Norman for example.

A few years ago, I asked you how often you get your hair cut. The majority of you said that you go every few months, which was also the same response to how frequently you get highlights. When you add up all of the appointments you book with your hairstylist and colorist throughout the year, what does your magic number turn out to be?

Some of you might remember a brand from the '80s called Salon Selectives. It was one of the first mass-market haircare lines to promise salon style and results at an affordable price. However, after a buyout and brand redesign in 2001, the line suffered and had to be pulled from shelves.

You say honey, I say honey, but what color comes out on your hair? People have different interpretations of hair color descriptions, so just as it's smart to take pictures of what you like and don't like, to the salon, it's wise to keep track of your color.
My favorite stylist keeps index cards on all her clients with their colors, conditioning treatments, cuts, etc., which proved very handy when I relocated.

Getting pampered at the salon is one of life's little pleasures, from the massage at the shampoo bowl to the precision cut down to the final blow-dry and style. Recently, a co-worker and I were chatting about our salon visits, particularly the "style" portion of the service.
Both of us agreed that while we might love the results of our actual haircut and/or color, neither one of us are ever really all that excited about the way the look was finished.
